  • Great video! Set up your ecommerce business for free with our Easy Help Zen Cart Tutorials:

  • If the page is aligned to the left this works for layout. However when the page is aligned to the center, the Ap div's are staying at the same place. Which is the problem whem you strech the browser wider, they don't ajust themveles to the layout. Is there is a way to correct this problem?

  • this was a great tutorial. thanks a lot!

  • this is complete rubbish i just made an entrie website using AP divs and once i open it in another computer the graphics are all over the place yet on the screen they were made on they are exactly where i want them, AP divs aren't stable when going from browser/monitor to another

  • Hi, Thanks for your video, I have a question.

For example, you've insert a bird img as a DIV tag's background, how can I make the img fit that DIV? can image be resized auto by DIV tag's size?

  • with the css styles there is nothing obvious!

  • with the css styles there is nothing obvious!!

  • saved my life man

  • That's why divs are way better than tables. I really don't know how so many people can build their websites mostly on tables. It's like really bad idea.

  • I have watched a TON of videos, attempting to learn how to do the things you've taught about here. This is -- by far -- THE most helpful, well-organized, and understandable video on this subject I've ever seen. Heartfelt thanks!

  • Hi im trying to embed a u tube video on my site im trying to put it to a part on my page but cant get the video to were i want it i though i could use the div but still no good what would i need to do?

  • DONT WASTE YOUR TIME sure it may seem magical but it's disgusting how he used peoples ignorance for views, ap divs are never used for a sites layout, they take too long to load and don't keep consistency across different browsers. Take my word for it and read a couple lines on ap diva before watching this crap. Missleading bill crap.

  • @farchijet

He is showing people how to use an ap div, sorry u wasted ur time watching a video about something u already know abour

  • After al lthe Layout is made, how can I center everything to avoid it to stick to le left side of the browser.

  • Brilliant!

  • Another great tutorial and as usual I did learn a lot, Keep up the great work !

    Eric

  • when i draw the div and put in something then its not there when i preview it in the browser

  • @RateHacker

do you have the div description in the CSS file? if you do then it might just be a bug that you have to sort out, try opening it in two or three different browsers

  • @RateHacker you'r better of using just Div instead of AP Div, AP Div has an absolutely position that is "the top left corner" i know this cuz i had the same prob, but from there i tried the Instert Div Option instead, theres where u are able to use your css rule to do exactly whatever you want, even center it, and you know what?

it will remain centered! hope it helps !

    Yours: Serbiakk

  • Can I rename a div tag from apdiv to any other?

  • thank you. this is a good tutorials but. i wanted you to explain how to use static, relative, absolute, fixed and inherit div's. i am currently working on a template. but its gettting a lil crazy when i try putting relative divs and static divs in the same page. i mean it messes up the whole template. but thank you for the tutorial

  • thanks for the quick lesson

  • Awesome video. I'm just beginning to understand divs, but this tutorial was a ton of good information for me. Excellent job!

  • Very well done, thank you.

  • How well does this work in internet explorer browser?

  • I got all my AP Divs well placed and everything works well when i publish on my computer but i went to preview in a different PC and all those DIV's were coming off their position, all are place a little to the left when i preview, what could be happening , PLEASE ANYONE, i need to fix this.

    Thanks

  • For those who are facing issues with DIVs. This is an in complete tutorial. It just shows what those divs can do and one must also learn how the positioning types work such as absolute, fixed etc. If you define the positions as he has, they will not move when browser adjusted. There are better tutorials on DIVs on YouTube. Try them.

  • The only problem I am having is that when previewing the page in the browser the ap div tag just sits on top of the image that is being covered up. The ap div does not move with the page.

  • How do you keep your apdiv within a container?

When I preview in firefox or safari I notice they are outside my container.

  • @israelda1 I have the same issue.

  • @meggles48 Have you figured out how to correct the issue? I was not able to play with the program to figure it out as of yet. Keep me posted if you find out.

  • Great job. Thank you. Because of you i am a Dreamweaver fan.

  • excellent work. Thank you!

  • Best web design tutorial. More please!

  • I'm having troouble creating the div tag: I createed two different div containers but by seeing a preview on Firefox and IE8, the divs are not aligned? what am I doing wrong.

  • what type of dreamweaver are u using bc i am using CS5.. can u do the same?

  • Thank you for your information. PJ

  • Great tutorial! Thanks for this!

  • A question -

does it matter from an seo point of view if the site is designed with DW or with simple html or hand coding ...that is the search engines have a preference ...a language preference ?

  • @TorahTube no search engines just see html. dw helps you to create html codes easier

  • very good i was looking for something like it .

    tks man

  • is it possible to put an html file into a ap div?

  • does anyone know how to copy for example 3 ap divs and then paste them

  • Excellent! Thank you.

  • wow, this would be even more like drag and drop than what i have dreamed about...^^

  • Dear Tutvid.

Can you please give me some good advise, and suggjestions about what to do to prepare for these use of CSS codes (PHP, ect).

Im starting on a education called "Web-Integrator" where i will learn about to put up these. I just want some real good basic tips to become major hardcore on this subject.

    P.S i enjoyed you movie. 5/5 stars

  • awesome video! Thanks!

  • who uses ap divs and why. Not everbody has the same resolution so it will not show the same place unless you make your webpage align left which is not good.

  • you can also use % for width // height. There are many many options available for size and positioning. You can find details at w3schools under the CSS section.

  • divs are boxes there are used to build your website, not everyone can be happy when it comes to same resolution or positioning so work with web sizes, you have to work with smallest amount of resolution because the page will take to long to load

  • Please Please Please, do a WordPress customization TutVid Yours are the best on the web!

  • how can you solve that the ap divtags move depending on browser

  • Brazil ae na area so marcando preseça!!!!!!!!!!

    aueaueuaeuae!

  • How can you make a DIV link to something?

  • Your amazing! Thanks! I'm a new website designer and used tables....HEADACHE! Now it takes no time to build stuff that took hours. You are a great teacher.

  • Okay I'm lost when he resizes it at the begining it doesnt move but when I make mine and resoze it moves help please!

  • YOU ARE A LIFESAVER!!!

  • Or else I could just type 'Ned' which is this birds name haha! great tutorial!

  • Awesome tut! ty! ♥

  • Is there a way to have something like these that can move relative to the width of the browser window, like suppose I want them to always be centered? so as the window opens they move to keep the equidistant? Please anybody... Daniel?

  • Yes there is, here he is using absolute positioning, which means it is using pixels as a measurement. However if you select '%' instead of pixels when positioning your divs, then they will work across various resolutions.

  • can you help me?? when a changed to % when i save te page a press f 12 to see a preview i cant see the layer, if i change it to px i can see it but if i change it to % i cant

  • Excellent tutorial - thanks very much - keep up the good work!

  • Another excellent tutvid tutorial. well do Nathaniel keep up the great work

  • This is probaly the best explained video ive seen on youtube, thankyou

  • great vid,,,, i have wondered how you use AP divs... thanks! nice tutorial

  • great video man now i have a great understanding of how to make my website look alot better... thanks again.

  • Very cool, I liked it!

  • Great tut. I just took a web fundamentals class at my university and he never mentioned 'AP Divs' he only taught us regular Divs.

You know.. ID: #wrapper, then insert > Div Tag.. and so on.

AP Divs seem to be a lot easier the little stuff. Glad I found this tutorial.

  • I watched this informative video back in Sept 09 when I first began to learn CSS and found it useful then; now, months later, I find it useful again but in a new way. Thank you.

  • Hi! I need a help.I have puted my layer on my background (background is div tag image)but when i preview it in browser layer is not in place where it should it be.How can i fix that? I want my layer to be on place where i leave it. Can someone help? Tnx in advance!

  • You saved my ass! you are one of the best tutors on youtube. Do you know how long i been looking for how to put text on my sliced PNG's (custom context boxes). You did it in one click.. LAYOUT TAB!. i just discovered it and you fuckin' rock! and a css monster! i'll have this stuff down in no time cause of you! Thanks for investing so much time to teaching newbs like myself. (ever need professional audio editing hit me up!!!) or free web space. I got my own webserver

  • bascially i wont the outside spaces to collapse with the ap divs the same way they collpapse wen you use the tables...im a dreamweaver first time user

  • some one help me please.. when i use tables to posistion objects and view it in a browswer when you resize the brower screen (collapse it) the page kind of resizes with it depending if you have the space either side of the actuall body..but with the ap div's wen i use them an view them in our browser they dont move with the page at all there just static so the users can really use it with a minimsed screen unless they keep moving the horizontal scroll bar..(i hope this made sense)

  • wow I can't wait to get started on this! thanks so much:D

  • Is there anyway to place an absolute positioned div inside a "relative" div? Im trying to use the easy of just drawing absolute divs but having it change with screen resolution...

  • Awesome thanks

  • THANK YOU!!!!!!

    It is really GOOG

Same here I trying to have my own WebSite, I had no idea how to do it or what to to, now with your videos I have learned a lot.

    Thank you again

  • Thanks for the helpful video! :D

  • watch?v=t9-ugDDv-_o

  • this helped alot. I needed this info for my school website.THANKS

  • weird..me 2:))))

  • how do i center it because im using a div as the body of my site?

  • margin 0 auto

  • Create a "master" div that covers the entire page. Center the rest of your divs inside this 'master' div.

  • @Naruto62395

to center ur webpage, do not center the body div.

You center your 'wrapper' div. If ur not using a 'wrapper' div. Then use the same below method to center ur page.

Go to box in ur div edit options, then cancel the box that says 'same for all'

then select, right and left only. But select 'AUTO'

    then apply then save.

    job done!

  • thank you very much man..

u talk much u talk usefull u are a good tutor!

    ty 4 ur effort!

  • It has taken me weeks to get a clear handle on how to use divs, css, and dreamweaver cs3; trying to learn all at the same time. sleep with a headset on so I wake up with css on my mind.

Still I'm confused. Tonight I'm not going to bed until I can get my divs positioned where I want. Looks so simple when you do it.

  • i just started divs and CSS also, dont use AP DIVS, use just DIVS. Nathan says in another TUT he never uses AP div's

  • I actually code everything by hand. LOL. Makes more sense to me than Dreamweaver. : O

  • first time css made sense......learned so much...thanks

  • is it possible to align your horizontal from the center rather than the left? Like 200pixels right of center. Would work MUCH better w/ my BG image on different resolutions. widescreen its perfect, on 4:3 monitors its way to the right. Thanks

  • You're very good teacher. :)

  • when I draw the AP DIV , and browse it , the DIV move when I minimize and maximize the page?

I'm facing this problem for whole month , ANY IDEA?

  • I am learning so much from you and following along with you testing out CS4! Thanks.

  • Great job!!! Excellent tutorial.

  • great

    tnx for this tutorial

  • Very good tutorial. I now Know Something.

    Thank you.

  • When I click on DIV to create a layer, it doesn't create a layer, it creates a table...can you help me?

  • Very well explained, much appreciated !

    Cheers

  • Thank you so much for this tutorial. You have saved me a great deal of time not to mention putting content wherever i want is easy now.

  • Thank you very much for all of this!!

  • One of the other easier way to layer different thing is with css. And you can set theis in dreamweaver by going to positioning then z-index. Otherwise if you want to write it in code veiw, write it as part of a css style, and use z-index.

  • How do I make the background of the image transparent (like the dollar bills image in this video)? Please help!

  • u do that when u sabe the img. Set the img as a png extention and than u set transparenci on png sets. Photoshop can easly make this

  • Thanks man, it worked a treat. However, the image I want to include on my webpage is a picture of a white cup and saucer on a white background. Any advice on how I could remove the white background in photoshop to make it looking very sharp? At the moment the magic eraser tool is pretty much useless and there are white bits dotted around the picture.

  • You should do a select by color, then touch it up with the eraser tool. Save it as a PNG file (this will enable transparency) then you will have just the cup with no background. If you have any other problems or questions, just reply.
