can someone please answer this, allot of old PC games don't bother me with outdated graphics ect, in some cases I actually enjoy the DOOM look and all the old classics. My problem is older games used to be allot less "Hold your hand" and I am just worried if this game will indicate objectives and locations and destinations easily ? does it help at all and I only have a laptop so what would be best to buy as a controller to play it rather than use a keyboard which I HATE. also is SAVING easy ?
I'm sad to say that the 1st time I played SS2 was through pirating, but soon it became my favorite game. I got to the point where you have to abandon the area that leads to the bridge, and later you find the laser sword before I decided I should try to buy a copy. The problem with this is that copies on amazon and Ebay go for anywhere from $50-$300, with most copies in the $50 range being rather low quality. EA has a death grip on the license and won't re-release the game or let gog.com sell it.
Don't be sad that was how I played it for the first time too. As for finding a copy I waited until one was available on Ebay, but I don't see why you can't Torrent it again.
I am playing System Shock 2 right now for the first time. In the game, when comes the moment you have to purchase a special object and if you do not have enough nanites, you must start all over?
Also the part where you have to start over that in the video game industry is called a class A bug which most companies try to ship without and are considered game breaking. I am right there with you though in the merciless style really brings horror to life =D
I remember eagerly following the development of this game back in '99, because I was a big fan of the original. Every screenshot of this game is filled with atmosphere - I've never seen a game which is so morbid. Amnesia perhaps, but there's still something about this one.
I love this game soo much its one of the best games i ve ever played also the first one that was awesome too i think we need a system shock 3 not bioshock because it lacks the shodan and the cyborgs i loved reading the logs in system shock reliving the events that happened on the ship even in teh cd version of the first one where you found the log of the resistance member parovski i actually felt like i was near her dying one of the best games ever really need a sequel
my god, ive played bioshock so much...but never system, always wanted to just never knew how... from a dedicated bioshock to a dedicated system shock, thank you.
Your story is identical to mine ;) I wanted to talk more about Bioshock in the review. Due to the time limit and fear of possible hostility from dedicated fans, I decided not to involve it.
I found my dad's old game and played it. Everything worked fine. But I came across any actual movie cutscenes though, like I do in the Thief game series. Is it supposed to be like Half-Life where you just go in a area, and your actually within that cutscene type of thing? Because I never remembered those clips from the game (in the beginning of your vid)
The cutscenes were recorded in a specific resolution, so they may not be able to play. There are only two significant cutscenes, Watch the introductions before you play the game, then watch the end cutscene when you think you have completed the game.
while I love antisocialfatmans review for ss2, I hate to admit it, but this one was betyer, and in case you didn't know, that is one of the biggest compliments a reviewer can get. i love ss2 a lot, and it is one terrifying game, the audiologs were so well done and it seemed like people doing their normal lives, ss2 deserves more credit, one of, if not THE best games ever

This is one of those games i never played back when it came out and have recently really wanted to play, do you think i should play the first game in the series first? or just go for the sceond! it looks good with the mods :)
Excellent video. One day I have to get around to playing this. I had trouble getting it to work about a year ago but will try again soon. LLLookAtYouHacker you are definitely a true game player and know how to make great reviews.
Yea, How do you use the modmanager? I have downloaded a handful of mods and some of them do go to the mod list, the ones with the .ss2mod end, but all the others go to winrar and I want to transfer them to my "DataPermanantMods" folder but I don't know which files to send and sometimes the ones that go directly to my mods list don't show their effects in the game even after I activate them. So if anyone can help me with that please send me a message.
If they end with .ss2mod, then you should be able to simply drag them into the SS2 Modmanager, without having to do it all manually. That's how I did it.
@LLLookAtYouHacker hmm i think i know why, you weren't using any graphical enhancement mods here were you? i was (am actually cuz i haven't finished the game yet) using that rebirth thingy, that's why it must look different, anyway this is a brilliant game! we need more survival horror-FPS-RPG-kickass games like this (ohhh and that's why the cut scenes weren't playing for me, i started the game having no idea what happened to the ship)
That's a very nice review! Thanks, I think I have to setup some Windows 98 PC to play i properly (got only linux here), urge grows ... cannot withstand..... must....
The new Resident Evil is a vast improvement over the previous version. It's ALOT longer, and will have a truely emotional ending. When will I post it up? I'm afraid I can only say, when its done. I'm very fussy when it comes to wording e.t.c I'm glad you admire my reviews :)

@LLLookAtYouHacker haha okay thanks for the help. i think ill just buy it. sorry for like replying with the same thing like 3 times. i didnt realize it goes like below the comment bar and like not on the same stream.
This is one of the best reviews I have seen, well done. Yeah this game is over 10 years old but you know what, in both graphics + sound, and also story and gameplay it still holds up very well today. A remake would be cool but what would be even more chilling and fantastic is if they made a 3rd one. This time on a massive outpost/facility on a planet the von braun was visiting. And guess who or what hacks the systems. Man I I thought computers were suppose to help us, not become evil gods lol.
Same for me, and I can tell you exactly what the problem is. If you have screen that’s larger than the games native res, they won't be able to play. The cut-scenes are actually recordings of the cut scenes in AVI format, you can even find them if you explore the disc.
Notice that in the video the cut-scenes are not in HD, I had to literally fetch them from the disc :)
There are only 2 cut-scenes that really matter, the Intro and the ending. You can find them here on YouTube. Play the intro after you have completed the training exercises, and play the ending after you think you have completed the game.
thumbs up from me. this was a very informative and well done review, you really did the game justice. :) however, i have one complaint with this review, you mentioned the tired clech'e that ss2 is a survival horror game, which i dont agree with. i mean, if you die you just respawn, and move on. sure dying has a penalty, but all games do. my point is, if ss2 is a survival horror game, then so is super mario brothers. but this really is one of the best review ive ever seen, keep up the good work
I do that a lot with games. For example, I consider Diablo 2 an RPG, when really its a hack and slash with RPG implements. With System Shock 2, I consider it survival horror, because horror is its prerogative and your surviving "in my mind anyway". What in your mind makes a legitimate survival horror game?
@LLLookAtYouHacker well, ss2 is definiteley a horror game, but my idea of a survival horror game is one where you restart from the begining when you die, or if it had very few save spots, then it could qualify in my mind. in other words, when death is final, or sets you back alot.
@LLLookAtYouHacker i think its more silly that some people consider this a stealth action game too. stealth and espionage does not mean destroy every camera you see and/or hack them and youll be fine XD.
@DownTownDJ1 Good points. The same people who made this though also made the ultimate stealth/action game. Thief and Theif the Dark Project were awesome games. It is a 1st person game like this but it requires a lot of thought process as oppose to reflexes, muscle memory, and aiming. Its an excellent game and like this game it has stood the test of time.
System Shock 2 is a true masterpiece. This is the kind of art you create with love, not a desire for money. Many video game companies could learn a thing or two from games like System Shock 2. That's my honest opinion. -w-
And cool review. You should consider doing a commentary of the game, your style is pretty amazing. And that ending sequence was pretty damn awesome. Great work X3
It would have to be done in screenshots, but I could also do it in the description under the video posting links and telling you what to do. At the moment im doing another review for Age Of Empires: 2, but i'll probably do it afterwards.
Nope, no disc needed, it just uploads the files FROM the disc into your comp. Feel free to ask as many questions you like, it took me a long time to get it going ;)
Thanks for the help but i can't even install the game. When i insert the CD nothing happens etc. I know that the cd isin't to scrathy so it's not that problem. Played it a year or so ago. Im also not really good at computer stuff xD :D
I know exactly what you mean, System Shock 2 was made for Windows 98/95. The way I installed it was via a torrent, you just download UTorrent. That allows you to open torrent files, then download a System Shock 2 torrent file thats repacked for Vista or XP. Of course, you could just get a good old comp, but thats up to you :)
Is there anywhere I can watch your old Resident Evil review?

And guess who or what hacks the systems. Man I I thought computers were suppose to help us, not become evil gods lol.

Excellent review! It's the psychological games that are played on you in SS2 that make it such a powerful experience.

I used the utorrent option, but the game is missing it's cutscenes
Willsuitt1 1 year ago
@Willsuitt1
LLLookAtYouHacker 1 year ago
@Willsuitt1

@DownTownDJ1
LLLookAtYouHacker 1 year ago
@LLLookAtYouHacker well, ss2 is definiteley a horror game, but my idea of a survival horror game is one where you restart from the begining when you die, or if it had very few save spots, then it could qualify in my mind. in other words, when death is final, or sets you back alot.

@DownTownDJ1
I see.
LLLookAtYouHacker 1 year ago
@LLLookAtYouHacker i think its more silly that some people consider this a stealth action game too. stealth and espionage does not mean destroy every camera you see and/or hack them and youll be fine XD.
DownTownDJ1 1 year ago

@Fironkkuify
If you knew where that music was taken from for the ending sequence, you wouldn't believe me :)
LLLookAtYouHacker 1 year ago
@LLLookAtYouHacker Although I've never played the game before, I get the feeling that music is from Deux Ex. Probably wrong but still -w-;

LLLookAtYouHacker 1 year ago
Thanks, ill try that. Also i think you should do a tuturial video of how to install it.
First of all i would be super greatfull but not only that, you would help many more people.
I did a tuturial video on how to install it on xp, Worked for me a year ago, not anymore though XD
I will subscribe 2 you and if you did it would be awesome XD
Also i would post the link to that video in my system shock tutorial on how to install :)
Zemon95 1 year ago
@Zemon95
It would have to be done in screenshots, but I could also do it in the description under the video posting links and telling you what to do. At the moment im doing another review for Age Of Empires: 2, but i'll probably do it afterwards.
LLLookAtYouHacker 1 year ago

Oh okay thanks, so when i download torrent do i need the system shock 2 cd or so?
Thanks for your help :)
Zemon95 1 year ago
@Zemon95
Nope, no disc needed, it just uploads the files FROM the disc into your comp. Feel free to ask as many questions you like, it took me a long time to get it going ;)
LLLookAtYouHacker 1 year ago
Thanks for the help but i can't even install the game. When i insert the CD nothing happens etc. I know that the cd isin't to scrathy so it's not that problem. Played it a year or so ago. Im also not really good at computer stuff xD :D
Zemon95 1 year ago
@Zemon95
LLLookAtYouHacker 1 year ago
Great review! Thumbs up :)
I so wanna play system shock 2 now, i got the cd and all but it refuses so start on my computer XD ''/
Zemon95 1 year ago
@Zemon95
I know how that feels. Try installing patch 2.03. Or if you can bare a torrent, there are plenty around that have been repacked for Vista, XP e.t.c
