After reading through the comments, I must agree. I've found that death metal/screamo is more complex and musically impressive than most other genre's (except classical music?). The lyrics are meaningful and carefully chosen to portray a well thought out, powerful message. The harmony and melody of all instruments (including the voice) are much more intricate than most any music you'll find today. I also find that many songs such as this refer to intellectual happenings and important events.
they have extreme rage fit into 3-4 minute songs that just blows ones mind. its good music but so much going on in it its hard to imagine whats going on in their minds as they play. lol i say 4 stars only because i feel like being the odd one out. i really say 5/5 though ^_^

Technicality, Sop wins, but surely we can agree that Origin is ferocious and brutal, their attack is simply amazing. I do love me some SoP though for sure. Both bands are great.

Now i think it does require skill to do what they do, especially on the drummers part, but the thing is they put in so much distortion their music is just fuzz, not a song.

The compositions are intricate, everything is played with precision, and their drummer reinvented how drumming can be done - literally. Research John Longstreth, he's highly regarding in drumming, he is Origin's drummer. Much of their music comprises jazz influence.

its ok, i once too hated this music and was very ignorant. Death Metal is what you would call an acquired taste (in my opinion, more rewarding) I also way back when went for the cookie cutter hits of the industry and knew nothing of what this music could offer. Most people are in a stupor and latch onto what is accessible immediately, radio hits with catchy hooks, anything that lacks substance. This music doesnt offer these men money, but a chance to do what they're passionate about.
hrm, the process was really gradual for me, you know soft clean singing some screaming, then onto more and more screaming, eventually bands with heavier riffage and growling, then full on death metal. It took almost an entire year for me to get to this music. Look up the lyrics, pay attention to every instrument individually, let it sink in, come back to it later. haha depressing? Ive never heard a sad death metal song.
So, despite the fact that their compositions are intricate, they play accurately, they can play faster than probably most anyone else you know, pesonally or otherwise, and sustain degrees of influence that are specifically death metal - just because you're too dimwitted to actually listen to what they're doing, and lack the attention span to get what's going on - they must be bad, just... because? Marco is not the original member, Dylan started the band by himself and recruited Marco and co. later. Plus Marco is boring as fuck to watch and uses the smallest sized shells he can get to pull off the fast gravity blasts and rolls at the speeds he does. Their new drummer > Marco.
I don't think you're wanting heavier than these guys, because as far as heavier - there's a lot, but it loses technical prowess by extreme degrees i.e. Whitechapel, The Acacia Strain. If you're wanting more technical types of metal that still crush your skull... definitely check out Brain Drill, Odious Mortem, Necrophagist (if you're into a neo-classic/death mixture), a lot of the bands on Willowtip, Relapse (ugh), etc.
u cant jump into this kind of metal straight away...for the longest time i wouldnt listen to this band if my life depended on it... metallica was my heavy "limit" when i was 12...now this just sounds...well normal
It's not so much that it's crushingly heavy, as it is technical and pushing the envelope on what can be on rock based instrumentation. To you it sounds like "white noise with a pig in the back (g)round", but it's legitimate composition, and if you actually listened to it without a preconceived notion of what you think noise is, and listen to what the instruments are doing, it's easy to see that this is an actual song quip full of downtuned melodies and composed riffage.

I agree that getting much heavier than these guys just starts to bring in the concept of genre. Personally, I'm a fan of Through the Eyes of the Dead. I love that they are melodic death and those guys can tear a new hole in my head to breathe through, but at the same rate, they are not quite the same type of death. Grunge vs. Melodic.

"Singing like a monster".. Precisely, and that's why it's fantastic. Origin is amazing, incredibly heavy both vocally and instrumentally.. There's not many bands that can replicate the instrumental 'explosion' that Origin can make. Best thing is, they're not melodramatically satanic or dark; it's all about the metal, which is where Death Metal started and needs to stay. Bands don't need to staple 'I <3 Satan' to their fore-heads to be metal. Anyways, Origin rocks. Need more video's.

So, despite the fact that their compositions are intricate, they play accurately, they can play faster than probably most anyone else you know, pesonally or otherwise, and sustain degrees of influence that are specifically death metal - just because you're too dimwitted to actually listen to what they're doing, and lack the attention span to get what's going on - they must be bad, just... because? No, you wouldn't get it because you have no idea what a piece of musical composition entails. There isn't a rule saying that if you can't understand what the guy is saying then it must not be music - like you want to believe there is. They don't just play random blathering musings of noise, they actually do write what they're playing. That's just one component on how it is music. There's plenty of music that doesn't even have words. Guess it must not be music either, right? Sheep.

No you can't, and for you to rate it as 'fucking noise' is nothing short of incredible ignorance. For one, the music is comprised of legitimate composition that is more related to jazz than it is to rock or blues. Because it is played at speeds varying between that of 260-300 bpm, possibly higher, makes it 'noise'? Are you serious? You may not like this style of music, that's fine, but give me a rational explanation to how it is noise, and not composition; and I may respect your 'opinion' more.

I don't think you're wanting heavier than these guys, because as far as heavier - there's a lot, but it loses technical prowess by extreme degrees i.e. Whitechapel, The Acacia Strain. If you're wanting more technical types of metal that still crush your skull... definitely check out Brain Drill, Odious Mortem, Necrophagist (if you're into a neo-classic/death mixture), a lot of the bands on Willowtip, Relapse (ugh), etc.

It's not so much that it's crushingly heavy, as it is technical and pushing the envelope on what can be on rock based instrumentation. To you it sounds like "white noise with a pig in the back (g)round", but it's legitimate composition, and if you actually listened to it without a preconceived notion of what you think noise is, and listen to what the instruments are doing, it's easy to see that this is an actual song quip full of downtuned melodies and composed riffage.

I agree that getting much heavier than these guys just starts to bring in the concept of genre. Personally, I'm a fan of Through the Eyes of the Dead. I love that they are melodic death and those guys can tear a new hole in my head to breathe through, but at the same rate, they are not quite the same type of death. Grunge vs. Melodic.

"Singing like a monster".. Precisely, and that's why it's fantastic. Origin is amazing, incredibly heavy both vocally and instrumentally.. There's not many bands that can replicate the instrumental 'explosion' that Origin can make. Best thing is, they're not melodramatically satanic or dark; it's all about the metal, which is where Death Metal started and needs to stay. Bands don't need to staple 'I <3 Satan' to their fore-heads to be metal. Anyways, Origin rocks. Need more video's.
