  • 5 of the 7 games decided by one run.

4 games won with a walk off hit.

The other decided on a bottom of the 8th inning hit by the Twins.

Three extra inning games with the home team winning all three.

  • I taped all 7 games back then. 10 yrs later had those tapes professionally put into DVDs. It was half a lifetime ago, but I'll never forget it.

  • "how about this..." "how about that..." how about showing some highlights?! this is a useless video. cripe.

  • @gleonard9 If you know of a way to get around MLB copyright to air actual game highlights, I'd love to hear it. Last time I checked, MLB Advanced Media sends a cease & desist order and pulls down your video if you show so much as one second of game footage without authorization. And I know this for a fact, because I worked for a season at MLB.com, doing game highlight content - partly because of this video, actually. So next time you don't like someone's video, do some research before you talk!

  • Why the hell cant I find a video of the Kirby homer? At the time I thought that was the greatest moment in baseball I had ever seen. Then I watched game 7, and Jack Morris' 10 inning, one hit masterpiece.

  • but he was my idol growing up as a child!!!!! RIP Kirby!!!! reaching 1000 hits faster than anyone else at the time did it, is still madd awesome!!!!!!! GAME 6 STILL RULEZ THIS MANY YEARZ LATER!!!!! GO TWINS!!!!! WE'RE COMIN!!!! WE'RE COMIN!!!!!!!

  • The 1991 World series was the greatest of all time! Nothing comes close........ RIP Kirby Puckett......

  • And we'll see ya TOMORROW NIGHT! were the best words i ever heard! RIP KIRBY.

  • Fred Willard? You're talking about Jerry Willard.

  • only a Braves fan would not like this video. They probably still whine about losing.

  • @Planktontwo no doubt

  • Comment removed

  • I hope the Twins can get there this season. Those damn Yankees always seem to stop us though.

  • braves fan here truely was an amazing series i was 10 at the time and was at the edge of my seat....it stills eats at me that we didn't win this series....b/c nothing is going to compare to that 91 miracle season the atlanta braves gave us.....not even the 95 championship season althought it was great to finally get one still 91 is very special....even thou we lost......

  • It was the best world series of all time, and I was lucky enough to witness it as an 8 year old in my northern Minnesota home. It doesn't get more inspiring than that!

  • @Angelslover9 i agree.. that would make more sense.. since i am all about the Twins

  • Sam- good breakdown, but you should mix in video clips of the games for a more interesting video.

  • I wish this guy was my Father

  • how about when hrbeck pulled gant off first base and the ump still called gant out

  • lol. My late grandad threw a fit about it

  • @notanomad I know Twins fans at work who even say it a bs call.Regardless,it was the greatest WS of all time.If only Atl had had home field advantage that year...

  • Oh the memories. I was a freshman in high school, skipped my last football game to attend game 5, and was staying up late with my dad to watch every game. It was almost too much to take for a 13 year old kid. Too bad Deion Sanders couldn't skip a football team to play for the Braves in post.

This series broke my heart as a Braves fan, but it was arguably the best World Series ever played.

My hat goes off to the Twins and RIP Puckett.

Redemption for ATL: 1998 NFCCG. :)

  • @PlacentaPudding Dude.... low blow. :'(

  • Truthbeknown1000-I could tell you several more incredible stories about that Series! 1991 was one of the greatest years of my life and my beloved Twins went worst to first, as did my 2nd favorite (lol) Atlanta Braves. I am not too keen on how you can email one another on this site but feel free to email me. I can tell you some great stories about the 91 Twins! They are included in a book I am completing. Feel free to email me and I will give you a couple parts that will be in the book!

  • I worked 3rd shift when Game 7 ended and the security guard announced the score.....I lived in GA and was the only Twins fan in the building. Since I was the only one screaming for joy, the boss sent me home. I watched Game 7 (taped it) and was still shocked even though I already knew the ending. Was also stuck at the theatre with a date for Game 6 but at least I took headphones. The giant scream after Kirbys HR luckily came at a touching scene. Everyone thought I was insane.

  • If this is all true that's one of the best stories I've ever heard. Awesome.

  • It's true. I was there. Well, not THERE, but I was 10 years old and lived in Minneapolis and was glued to the TV the whole time.

  • Well done man! I am a Twin Cities boy born and raised at the U of M now where Dave Winfield wowed us and gotta say I couldnt agree with you more. Best series ever hands down.

  • don't knock where the dude shot it. he's not talking yankess or red sox like every other sports caster out there-see espn. he's talking MN TWINS/ATlanta Braves in the greatest series ever. you don't know baseball if you don't know that series. MN TWINS REPRESENTIN- WORLD SERIES 09'-WE'RE COMIN' WE'RE COMIN'

  • I was there. Game 7, 1991 world series. Best finish EVER! Best moment of my life. I thought the noise was going to blow the roof off the dome when Gladden jumped on home plate. Thanks for the memories Twins!

  • Man how sweet was it?

  • why is he in shea stadium when the mets wernt involved in this at all

  • I used to work there, and it was better than shooting in a random studio or local little league field. I felt it added a bit of class to the pice, to see a real major league park in the shot. And if you paid attention, you'd hear me say that I didn't know who the participants this year would be.... it was just a cool place to use as a backdrop.

  • @SamTeichman926 I'm a Minnesotan/die-hard Twins fan, LOVED Shea Stadium! Everyone seemed so nice there, especially compared to Yankee Stadium. I went to school in NYC while Mientkiewicz was playing for the Mets! It was awesome!

  • Any of you fellow Minnesotans laugh when he said Puckett was 180 lbs?

  • @wing13245 yea, lol, he was at least 215 pushind 225 at tha time =D

  • i probably would have cried harder if the Twins lost, hehe. but still, many forget that what makes this world series so special is that BOTH teams finished in LAST place in 1990. to me this 1991 world series was so great because it was 2 well rounded REAL DEAL baseball teams who duked it out til the end. what a series. something i will never forget. i was 12 at the time....GO TWINS!!!! my hat is off the the braves of 1991!

  • I was 7 at that time and I've been a braves fan since...smoltz vs morris on the last game, man I cried with my dad that night I was crushed...

  • i think it was sometime after 11pm....i had just fallen asleep BUT woke up to the cracc of the bat and saw puckett rounding the bases and the now famous "and we'll see you tomorrow night" comment. ahhhhh, memories. god help us win another world series!!!! YES WE CAN!!! GO TWINS!!!

  • very well done. great piece!

  • Top of the 9th, the Braves had the bases loaded, and Bream hit into a double play. Damn. Heartbreak. Oh well, not as bad as being a Cubs fan.

  • THE BEST EVER! Puckett was the best clutch hitter ever!

  • maybe one of the best world series of all-time.

game 6: kirby's (RIP) HR in the bottom of the 11th

    "and we'll seee you...tomorrow night!"

  • with a garden hose??

  • whats floating around his left shoulder (right side) on screen at 2:05

  • i think it's someone washing seats

  • yep. That is exactly what it is. I've seen people do that before.

  • its a hose

  • Good job.Better then some stuff I've seen on espn.

  • but who still won the World Series?

  • The Twins in 7

  • i know i was just saying.. that they won!! just like in 87... not susposed to win. but they did anyway.. sounds like us in 08' since NYG football team won the superbowl both of those years we won the World series.. sooo yeah

  • 260 pounds pulling you off the bag doesn't help to gain one's balance, now does it? And the home team was 7-0 in this series, as in 1987 which the Twins also won.

  • Mr. Teichman,

Thanks for making such a wonderful video. The series brings back warm memories, and it is nice to know others really enjoyed it.

  • AND I would like to see Hrbek get away with that stunt outside of the Dome

  • Hrbek didn't pull Gant. He was falling over and Hrbek just kept the tag on. And what difference does it make where the game was played?

  • Bullshit. He pulled him off the bag. It ended a scoring threat. It was pure bush league.

  • No, he didn't. Gant was off balance and falling over.

  • Gant was off-balance, but there is no way in hell he would have fallen off the base had it not been for Hrbek pulling him off. Any unbiased person can see that. Nobody could stay on a base with Hrbek's 350lbs holding onto them and falling backwards. So, it was really quite an awful call. That being said, it didn't cost Atlanta the World Series. Lonnie Smith's base running did.

  • It was a GREAT call, what else would you have liked called? lol The question you should be asking yourself is what was Gant doing off the bag in the first place?

  • It was 1991, get over it.

  • Fuck yo face.

  • Come on over sometime, I will show you my replica rings from 87 and 91.

  • NEVER!

  • Pwned? Ugh.

This is the closest World Series ever played. Fan of either team or not, if you love the game of baseball then this probably ranks as the best series you will ever see. Any closer, and it would be a tie.

    So shove the "pwned" crap.

  • And Morris didn't win 3 games

  • It was JERRY Willard, not Fred Willard. Fred Willard is an actor.

  • Amen!!! Twins 08'

  • what about the 1986 epic, or the 1982 epic, or the 1996 epic, or the 1995 epic, or the 1992 epic or the 1993 epic, or going way back in the day 1979 epic?

  • The Braves are the only team in history that can boast about a series of National league East titles yet when asked about the world series they have to say 1995, and slither away

  • There is no way in hell the Twins would have lost that series at home. The fans at the metrodome had a voodoo curse going from '87 to '91. terrorizing the tigers, the cardinals and the braves in the process. The ball would bounce off the turf of that park and the walls like Kobe Bryant bouncing the ball to shaq for a dunk.

  • How about Rick Aguilera nearly costing the Mets the 1986 World Series, yet becoming a star in Minnesota.

  • or hows about buckner costing the soxs that series

  • Buckner, took on too much responsibility. he saw the sox championship hopes slipping away and decided to be the hero and took on Mookie the speed demon with two gimpy legs

  • one thing i will always remember about that game 6 of the world series was when kirby hit that home run and the announcer goes "and we'll see ya tomorrow night" i love that

  • No better drama, No better series, no kidding

  • I was hoping to see some video here.

  • Hrbek pulled Gant off the bag, that was a crappy call.

  • I was at game 6 of the world series! I was only 3 at the time but my dad told me we had braves fan next to us and they tried to get out of the stadium after Pucket homered the winning run and one of them was crying! lol! Go twins! we won that world series fair and square! Herbek is a hero to us Minnesotans we even have a statue of Herbek in st.paul! Why are the braves fans bitching? they won a world series later in the 90's....southerners are a bunch of confederate babies...lol!

  • Amen!

  • Listen to him. he knows what he's taking about. and he has Rose Nylund supporting his comments.

  • BEST WORLD SERIES EVER!!!!

  • I still remember jack buck';s call at game 6

  • All you cats here, know exactly what you are talking about.

  • Jack Morris vs John Smoltz was a legendary match up.

  • Game 7 was possibly the greatest baseball game ever

  • And we'll see ya TOMORROW NIGHT!

  • @dennydog10 Even as a Braves Fan, I rate that call by Jack Buck one of the all-time best call by an announcer in any sport to this day. Though Atlanta came out on the short end of that Series, there may never be another WS to top that one ever again.

  • @dennydog10 I think Jack Buck could have said more than that. I'm just thinking, What? that's all you're gonna say? Compare that to his reaction when the Braves got their walk off RBI's.

  • 1991 the best world series ever! The world series of the century, believe it or not!!!
