Also I assume all you have to do when you are having your surgery is inform your doctor before hand that you have health insurance. I am currently UN-employed so I'm going to a public doctor with my partner and son, so health insurance has not been a problem up until this point. Top hospital and extras cover will be what I should be looking for when choosing cover for my top surgery? Is there a usual waiting period before claiming major surgeries?

Second this statement of health insurance importance for aussie trans guys.
I had surgery with Dr Megan Hassall without it - and was substantially out of pocket due to that fact.
