I tried this experiment, and the paper clip only vibrate when the high voltage colapsed when you turned off the tv. Some TV that had damping resistor for the high voltage, it didn't work at all. I was thinking about opening the TV, and connecting the wires to the anode. It's too dangerous that way so I changed my mind. I would have to discharge the CRT first because it carries lethal charge even when turned off.
