little Virginia Weidler died prematurely in 1968! Even more incredible is that, not only is Joan still living, but her sister, the incomparable Olivia De Haviland is alive as well!
One of my favorite movies of all time! I had the VHS 20 years ago and the DVD since it was released. I've probably seen it 20 times. I was horrified by the recent remake.
I love the original, (spoiler)but just hated when Mary ran back to Steven. the newer version just doesn't stand up (in my opinion only). also couldn't get over the "fashion show" and in color to boot!!!!!!!!!! great opening credits! great, funny actresses all outstanding, my favorite is Mary Boland as The Countess De Lave. & not one man in sight~definitely a girls movie!
bisnagaboy, ....I'm glad they are showing this movie in a theater. It is a wonderful movie to be shared in an auditorium filled with appreciative gay men....

It's almost the Castro's
equvelent to a midnight screening of "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" It's pure, delightful
pandemonium! I'm right with you on the Meg Ryan, Anette Benning monstrocity,
I was never even fond of the 1950's musical remake, "The Opposite Sex". I did however
see a PBS production of the play, starring Cynthia Nixon, that I enjoyed!

imagine if you will, an enormous audience of Queens, hundreds, reciting every
