  • 9 people....... something clever

  • Do you wana go for a pint? Instant laughter!

  • Stephen is so cute :') De Niro is brilliant in this. "Can I have this?" omg I remember them talking about that pen on XFM

  • Patrick Stewart would love that pen.

  • I love it right near the end of the episode when Steven Merchant says, "He wants to bring his friend, is that alright? It's a friend of his, a lady", and De Niro replies with, "The lady on the pen?"

    Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha

  • you lookin at me? i am now

  • lol Steven Merchant looks like a giant

  • @1foottall he is lol

  • I really thought they missed a trick at the end of this episode by not having De Niro caught masturbating to the pen like Merchant was caught earlier on :) Would have been a magical moment indeed :))

  • I mean it just goes to show how good Ricky/Stephen are as a team... how they got these celebritys practically queueing up for a part, here we have Thee Robert DeNiro saying about 5 words if that and thats it, he's an extra, he wanted to play an extra for them... Kate Winselt talks dirty, totally not how she would act, again not a very big part and of course David Bowie havin his 5 mins of fame

  • Thanks for putting it in 2 parts, anything over 1 minute and i need a break..

  • @metallicakixtotalass you're not funny

  • He's lucky he decided to give that pen to Bob, or Bob would have fucking killed his ass "Taxi Driver"-style...

ah who am I kidding he was probably waiting for a call for Fockers 4...

  • Hilarious!

  • I WANT THAT PEN.

  • steve is sooo slimey in this scene the smile nd all, brilliant

  • I love this scene, but is it just me, or does it feel like they filmed seperately? Like the shots dont seem very natural, and the part where theyre sat across the table looks like a bit of camera trickery. im not sure, it just doesnt look right :s

  • @murphy341 I noticed that...

  • @murphy341 it looks odd because steve is huge

  • ah de niro is the best actor ever. his laugh is amazing

  • This is easily one of the greatest scenes in television history.

Hats off to Merchant + Gervais for the superb writing, hats WAAAY off to the awesome Mr. DeNiro for being a damn good sport!

  • I love the fact that De Niro is so childishly impressed with the pen. I imagined he would be very scornful and bored with it, after all, that kind of thing has been marketed for years. But his sudden boyish delight is a funny twist. Excellent. A scene with him encountering the "Hills Have Eyes" bloke and Count Fuckula would have been comedy gold.

  • OMG Do you want to go for pint? De Niro. A living legend.

  • now if the lady in the pen was blach he'd love it even more, de niro only dates ebony chicks

  • i love how robert smiles but he's not really smiling. his eyes smile.

  • @christentze

bobby gets panic attacks bad so that kinda smerk that he has is something got to do with his breeding technique

  • @Moc870 isn't it crazy that some of the most talented people suffer from panic attacks? i like amanda seyfried, too, and she's known to have episodes of panic. of course, i'm not saying they're comparable, but it's like they have so much talent inside em that it manifests itself in brilliance and also in panic.

  • @christentze

ya its very strange coz he seems like such a cool and relaxd guy, but i get panic attacks too its a phobia called agoraphobia some people get OCD along with it, well i do anyway ha

  • eww he jacked off to the pen

  • Haha I love how he loves it.

  • Smerch DWARFS Robert Deniro, it's quite an image.

  • @FranBMan look at the chairs

  • merchant = the most underrated man in comedy

  • hahahahahahaha fantastic :)

  • @SuperGoldfish1999 Its called comedy, jackass.

  • @SuperGoldfish1999 I'm British you prick.

But yes, Robert DeNiro is a god amongst men.

  • @SuperGoldfish1999 your a fucking rat

  • @SuperGoldfish1999 He's acting, your dumb.

  • "You lookin' at me?"

  • Was this the final episode of the show?

  • MERCHANT the funiest tall man eva...lol..

  • funniest scene of series

  • "you're a man of the world, you'll like this"

  • De Niro is a wanker ? LOL

  • i used to have one of those pens..pretty populer i england if i recall.. man this scene is funny..

  • Stephen Merchant looks like a cartoon character. Oh, he's amazing.

  • @heckler52 yeah he kinda looks like an animated beaver

  • @ghostwhiskey he really does look like something straight out of a cartoon

  • 0:06

  • merchant u legend! i did L O L!!

  • lolx luv him... Robert De Niro looks like a midget compared to him =D

  • Steve Merchant is the funniest part of extras, although he has some stiff competition ^^

  • "turn it up the other way, oh HANG ON"

  • He gave Robert the pen which he and Barry wanked off to in that very same episode... Lol

  • Yea took me a couple of watches to realise you are supposed to think of de niro wanking off to the pen at home lol

  • Very funny. The funniest thing about this though, is that you split it into two uploads, like the layers or each punchline needs a moment to digest. heh.

  • "Do you wanna go for a pint?"

    Perfect!

  • thats well funny at the end where he asks him if he wants 2 go for a pint lol

  • ye, like he thinks there best friends

  • "You're a man of the world."

    Belter.

  • Great sketch.

  • Robert De Niro has such facial expressions.

  • Comment removed

  • i love extras...

i am probably the only American who doesn't think DeNiro is funny however...

  • He's not he's just an amazing actor

  • god, i love extras.

  • Smerch is great, love the way after he has given De Niro the pen he assumes that they must now be mates.....so he suggests a pint ! LOL !

  • @jonnyoverlord Heh, they actually do go for a pint and seemingly become quite friendly-he calls Ricky later to tell him the news

  • how good an actor is smerch? :D

  • Barry.

  • "Nothing suspiscious...now turn it up the other way...hang on! hello!" haha classic stuff.

  • love that straight wink he does..

  • "can i have this?" ROFL

  • what the hell has DeNiro have to do with feeding the world ? go to a Bob Geldorf clip instead

  • this is a clip from extras starring robert de niro who get a nudie lady pen.Why are you all talking about solidarity and rich-poor people?

  • i was just wondering that

  • me too

  • lol he talks like gareth

  • from the office?????? i was thinking EXACTLY the same thing :D

  • The actor who plays Gareth actually borrowed strongly from Merchant's accent. They talked about it on one of the podcasts.

  • Interesting.

  • What the fuck is with these comments. It's a clip from extras. How can this form a basis for a war of words between Britain and the USA.

I'm from England myself but love America with a passion. Be proud of the world you live in, not the country!

  • I know I'm just an ignorant Brit, but what's the crack with all this nationalistic sentiment on a clip of Robert De Niro?

  • which one is this DeNiro?

  • yo momma

  • @WKaliberr Stupidest youtube comment ever. Congratulations.

  • "Can I have this?" lmao.

  • I live in England. And im grateful for what i have here, my family, food, water, free medical attention if i need it, the chance to earn money and live a happy life. No country is perfect, your country is what you make it, i love my country because i ws born here, my family is with me, i have everything i need a good education, many oppurtunities, exciting ones. Be adult about this, shake off anything you dont like reading, shake it off and take no notice.

  • remember people, whatever country you live in, be proud of it despite what ANYONE says about you or your country. What makes it special is that YOU live there, you was born there and you'll probably die there, after living a happy life.

Some countries like Africa for example are not so lucky. They dont have the food they need, medical attention or water... you have something to be proud of, you're given what you need to survive, you're unique American or Canadian.

  • Africa isn't a country.

  • Shroomer01--do us all a favor and leave the country, get a citizenship in Canada. I cannot believe how ungrateful you are to live in the most prosperous and free nation on the planet

  • agreed this guy is a fuckwit (because he's a yank) but most free?

  • Of course we are losing freedom, but we remain the most free at the moment (of any of the G20) Why are we the most free? Because we are nearest to a free market economy (it is mixed and the current run of bailouts and government takeovers threaten this). Countries that (like canada/sweden in many aspects) are socialized are LESS free. Having the government take care of you and "sharing the wealth" is tyranny not liberty.

  • Yes because were not happy with that.. You don't live here you guys have no fucking clue what it is like here. You make it seem like were giving all of our money away to everything.. you got it all wrong and in your time of need when you get into an accident and are near death fucking laugh at us then when you get your half a million dollar bill.

  • call me a socialist but i would rather live in a country where i know that i am taken care of than one where i kno that if i am not fortunate enough to have money for health care i wont get it.

not that i dont it is just other people in america r in big trouble because they dont have the means to fend for themselves.

i am aware that i probably will cause people to spam me because i want an equal america. call me a dreamer.

  • One thing is certain, you do not want an equal America. Despite what you say. You want to rob the rich to feed the poor. That is the opposite of equal.

Of course some of the rich are corrupt (Bernie Madoff) but the vast majority have earned their wealth by selling valuable products and services used by great numbers of people (For their own benefit...no one buys something to benefit the seller!)

So you want to take from those who have earned and give to those who need? Certainly not equal.

  • I agree - The whole robbing the rich to feed the poor thing is the basis of communism, and I think it's fair to say that the global examples of communism show that it simply does not work

  • It's called solidarity. I can't believe that people are actually proud of living in a country where its citizens don't give a crap about their own countrymen starving on the streets or losing their home only because they got sick. It's quite a shame to see that some Americans really seem to be as fucked up as everyone says they are.

  • There's a lot of us that aren't, though. I enjoy being American, but I'm really not proud of much of our history or government, or the crappy public education, or the health system. Or the fact that many of us don't know that Great Britain is not the same thing as England.

But really, there are idiots in every country and continent. I think the American ones just have such a presence that it makes us all look moronic.

Btw, what does this have to do with a nudie pen?

  • Solidarity is great, to the extent that we are all unified in the belief that all individuals are created equal and have the right to pursue their separate interests.

To say that I don't care about others is backwards, socialists don't care about others. They disregard the rights an individual has to his own mind. something that is beyond evil, to deny one ownership of his thoughts.

I am proud to live in a country where individuals are rewarded by the value they bring, not the need they have.

  • Jesus Christ, this has nothing to do with socialism. You should watch "sicko". I don't like Michael Moore, but he's got a point there. What are you Americans so afraid of? I really don't get it. That all of a sudden, your army would be red, only because you have health care? The bombs that your country is dropping every day are being paid for with your tax dollars. Are those socialist-bombs?

  • if the rich guys just look out for themselves wat happens to the poor. i am pretty certain that it would not hurt the rich guys bank account to spare some for the less fortunate

there is a difference between robbing an sharing. robbing is when you take without permission and sharing is when u care for other people and out of the goodness of your heart you help them out. but i guess u dont hav one of those.

the world will probably never b equal but is a little more fairness too much to ask 4.

  • First, are the poor to look out for the rich? You are for equality so this should be a mutually beneficial trade. In reality the poor are more concerned about themselves than the rich are. The rich give charitably, the poor do nothing of the kind, they only take.

There is a difference between robbing and sharing. It becomes theft when you do not give on your own accord. I love giving, I don't like the government doing the giving for me (because they have to take from me first.).

  • I think you're missing a point- it's not so much giving people equal wealth, but at least making sure the rest of the population doesn't live in dire poverty. (I'm English btw) Only a small portion is taken (and the poor are taxed heavier than the rich are, go figure). The rich still keep their mansions. Some family of five might just be able to keep a three bed terraced house. Who says the "working-class" aren't earning what they have? Many min-wage jobs have longer hours and are hard going.

  • I wish I could have a pint with Robert De Niro.

  • haha robert deniro punked him for his pen.

  • Funny

  • "are you lookin' at me, i am now"

  • lol.

  • I loved Robert de Niro and I liked in Extras.

  • De Niro looks like bush on the first few seconds

  • do you want to go for a pint! XD

  • The classic "De Niro" face he does while looking at the pen near the end is priceless.

  • NUDEY LADY...haha

  • i think steve merchant is an underestimated comedic actor. darren lamb is as funny as david brent

  • Comment removed

  • i want that pen

  • Right when De Niro sees that pen he does the vintage "De Niro face" only few people I know can do it.

  • Back to the subject matter in hand.

Bob De Niro is hot, hot, hot.

  • pretty fucked convo, considering the vid

  • extras is nothing but gold.

  • amazing Robert de Niro still looks incredibly attractive..

  • Robert DeNiro looks so tiny compared to Stephen.

  • The classic "De Niro" face he does while looking at the pen near the end is priceless.

  • U lookin at me? I am now

  • NUDIE LADY...hahaha, that line was stuck in my head all day

  • I actually didn't say anything about slapstick comedy. For the record, I state proudly that I love the Three Stooges.

  • LOVE ROBERT DE NIRO!!!!!!!!!!!

    hes awesome

    SPESHILLY IN MEET THE FOCKERS!!

  • iloveducks1 - Totally agree! I think hes the man! The Fockers was great - He was SO good in meet the parents! "Iv got nipples Greg! Can you milk me?"

  • Americain version of the office... SUCKS ROYAL HAIRY BALLS!

  • he says: do you want to go for a pint? [beer]

  • He says "Do you want to go for a pint" as in got to a bar for a drink

  • Haha Merchant was great on Extras.

I'm, very, very American by the way.

  • yeah but all in all it's genius!

  • Hey Brit nationalists, fuck off. I'm an American and I think Gervais is brilliant. The divide here is not so much cultural as it is intellectual-- intelligent people usually seem to appreciate ironic humor; "thick" people of all nationalities usually do not. (And don't forget the "Carry On..." films and Benny fucking Hill, you xenophobic prats.)

  • as an internationalist Englishman, I agree. Don't forget buddy, the press works both ways - I hope your media isn't starting to hate us, and by the same token, I know the US has it's beautiful people so I ignore the shit I don't agree with. Glad you like our produce though - it has to be said, we are Kings of comedy.

  • I concur. When it comes to literature, rock music and comedy, the UK over-achieves marvelously (and in a lot of other things as well). BTW, check out Gervais's old rock video-- very, very surprising.

  • Hmmm, I'd agree with the literature and I'd say we're the world's best for rock music but I'm not sure about the comedy.

  • If you're the from England, I'm thinking the opposite. Most funny comedians nowadays are British, but the greatest author of the twentieth century (hemingway) was ours. Rock music could go either way.

  • The greatest American author of the 20th century arguably, but a bit of a stretch to call him the world's greatest of the century. Although many of his works were influential in the continued development of the modernist era, his work is usually considered to narrow thematically, and his style too economic, to take the mantle of 'greatest'.

  • I would consider him the greatest nontheless. Hemingway, with his "economic" writing, could command an image into the mind like no other and appear as though he weren't trying to.

  • I think your right; I always thought his economy with words was a strength, it dramatically aids the communication of his ideas, thoughts and philosophy - in fact, his whole style is disarmingly unpretentious, considering his ferocious intellect. I think he took a more Orwellian stance on rhetoric, and his was all the better for it.

  • You're exactly right. It's easy to be verbose, but Hemingway was better than that. Like Twain said, "I would write a shorter letter but I'm afraid I have no time."

  • Rock music will always be with Britain.

Rolling Stones, Beatles, Zeppelin, The Who, Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, Eric Clapton, Iron Maiden, Oasis, The Clash, the Kinks, Ozzy.

That list can't be topped. Not even with your Elvis and Hendrix.

Many great metal guitarists are American tho, i'll give you that,

  • You forgot Queen. And while Britain has had some iconic rock, I could give you a name for every one you gave me (unfortunately I am more of a country man myself so this is unrealistic). Although I do love the Clash.
