its all part of whats called a light system. My friend has one? Its not that complicated. You turn on what lights you want, whenever you want. It may have been out of respect of someone performing something, such as glowstricking or freehanding? Catchin my drift? That stuff looks alot better in pitch black so if whoever was DJing this had the lights off for that reason, that would explain it

In all fairness without the machines coming out of Japan in the early days of techno and hip hop we wouldn't have the sound that became techno or the culture that came with it. While UK is defiantly the source of some of the electronic dance music out there, you also have to consider Italo Disco which predates a lot of the Acid House which UK and Chicago are known for. Just like the punk scene, the scene crossed a lot of borders each with similar flavor.

@nandimri Japan started the candi culture that is popular in American raves. I haven't been to a rave in England yet, but I'm hoping to go for Halloween. The music in England will be better than this, but I'll miss the pink haired hotties from American raves. And yes, England is the birthplace of raves.

It's all so mainstream and crappy! don't get me wrong, there are AMAZING parties here, you just need to find them...which can be very hard unless you're the kind of person who's wanted at the party by the organizer...to me, the best parties are the squats...or renegades, or whatever...but they are mainly psy trance! The psytrance scene is pretty much the only sick scene left in london...But that's just my opinion and that of many of my m8s. x

What do you mean no constant beat? There's a prominent 4/4 there. Dark psytrance usually avoids melodies too, going for strange, messed up sounds instead. Stuff to frazzle the mind to. The sounds of a bad acid trip. Love it. ;)
