  • Why don't you just use water?

  • he trusted me more than his other buddies...but since all those feeding episodes,he was reluctant to even step up on my finger...so i totally agree with spoon feeding sick birds.they find it playful and that keeps them happier and healthier.i stopped forcing my bird and and he went back to normal in like a week.he's the happiest boy now:)i hope your bird never gets sick again! cuz it hurts like a knife when they get ill !!

  • my parrot got injured ion the eye lid...he was talking and chirping on his way to the emergency clinic...the doctor prescribed some eye drops for him and some medicine to be fed to him through a syringe...i had to forcefully feed him that and hold him like that to put those eye drops in his eyes....trust me,that scared the poor little guy like any thing...he was having a fever the next day from all the extra care, his droppings were runny...he was not eating and just wanted to sleep.

  • Thanks for the advice-wouldn't hurt to get all birds used to drinking a treat from a spoon before they even get sick so you will have better chance of getting the meds in

  • What happens if your bird tries to cough it up?

  • do you have a dog?

  • How Come He Doesnt Bite You When U Force Him To Something? How Do You Controll That o:!

And What's That White Thing On Hes 'leg'

  • Thank you for posting this! My Tiel is on Di-Trim and it's SUPER to get him to drink from the syringe. He even flies away from me when he sees me holing it! :(

  • thanks my bird sun conure had the same thing thnks for the vid

  • what a parrot is it?

  • @TheKillingpie Its a Sun Conure :)

  • I just fall in love whith apollo along all the videos <3

  • I hate it when birds die. They are great companians just like dogs or cats

  • this happened to my sun conure but it was a rectal perlapse she fluffed up like apollo in the beggining of the video

  • I'm having to give my sun conure some antibiotics, too. He shakes a lot of it out. He's still breathing heavily so I really hope it's not a fungal infection instead.

  • How is apollo now?

    poor bird..

  • how much did the medicine cost?

  • @Mia006 for my bird, the antibiotics (liquid) was about $15

  • my baby conure eats like that but he does not hate it

  • its so adorable when he drinks off the spoon, im glad hes recovered fine.

  • yeah i wonder why hes sick maybe cause you take him out in cold weather ,,.,. i mean when i take my kids outside in the cold for long periods of time they get cold too...,., imagine that

  • When My sun conure first got sick he was scared of the syringe as well. I put it on the spoon too and mixed a drop of syrup, he seemed to like it. He got a bacterial infection two years later, I used the syringe and he took it like a baby. I guess he loved the syrup flavor! Great video!

  • Nice. I like to se owners there only whis the best for there birds. And this is in deed a great way to give him the medicin. And whit the juice he took it at hes own free will. deffenly something i will try if my bird get sick and the medicin has to come in the beak.

  • Its the same I had to do with my mouse but he didn´t hated it that much

  • We recently had to give our GCC antibiotics and we had to do the exact thing, it was 0.1mL with exact syringe. We found what worked best was to just take the syringe with the antibiotics in the syringe and suck up her favourite type of juce (apple juce) and then she drank straight from the tip willingly. Found that worked the best.

  • i have come to love Apollo through your videos, is he better?

  • @vivavasquez He's doing just fine!

  • It's cool you are being creative giving medicine to Apollo. I'm going to try apple juice next time I have to give her medicine. Thanks for the video :)

  • great work, bro. they all just HATE medicine haha.

the vet told me my cag has a nose infection so its been the same with tryna give him medicine. i'm gonna have to mix it up with orange juice or somethin. >.<

  • I imagine the reason most parrots in captivity get sick easier, is because (mostly) they are hand-fed... so they don't get the extra stuff that their parents would feed them that boosts their immune system when they are younger... just a guess (no, I am not trying to sound like I am smartass there... I am literally saying, its just a guess)

anyways... so has he gotten any better?

  • Poor Apollo. Hope he gets better soon!

  • I hope Apollo gets better

  • Hey wow. I hope Apollo gets better? How long has he been sick?

  • aw poor apollo. How did he get the infection?

  • He was sick about 6 months ago and I think this was a relapse. For some reason captive parrots are horrible at fighting infections. We have him on the same dose of antibiotics he was on before but this time its less per dose with more doses. He's recovering wonderfully.

  • This may be because they do not have access to "herbal remedies" they may have sought on their own if living in the wild. Whatever nutritional alteration they could make in the wild is obviously unavailable in captivity. Do you think that the respiratory infection could have anything to do with the parrot going outside or getting too cold? Is the cause known by any chance? Hope he gets better soon.

  • I just moved from Tennessee to Oregon and we camped the entire way. That's my guess as to what did it. Strange sleeping patterns and constant change of temperature must have made him weak. He's doing better now it seems.
