321 def good points. A technical suit doesn't impact a stroke bit it will reduce drag. Since spitz the sport has advanced..being longer,more streamlined and stroke techniques all geared at reducing drag to swim faster. In the day spitz was tops..today that stroke wouldn't cut it.

Phelps wears a $400 high-waisted jammer (Fastkin3) which is highly superior to anything Spitz used in competition. So yes, suit technology (including the current FINA approved jammer) probably does have a minor role in stroke mechanics.
