@tgungen123 I checked Wikipedia; they differentiate between the Genesis craft in collecting mode, and its sample return capsule. It's akin to the difference between the Saturn rocket, the Apollo Command Module, and the Apollo Landing Module. All are parts of the same craft, but have different shapes and functions.

The placement of intelligent life on the moon and planets would be a more accepted practice for encouraging the people of Earth to colonize space, rather than dressing up like aliens and pretending to crash land, which is injurious. @jrstok1 Decent to doom? This thing was in virtually on piece when it crashed. This was probably a UFO that was tracked in space and somehow disabled using military weapons. What you see is a fantastic fall of a UFO and does not break into pieces, rather it stays almost intact.

However I have to disagree with you. This is the Genesis mission. The pictures on the NASA website show the spacecraft in it's collection configuration. Once all of those panels are closed and the main body of the spacecraft is expelled. You are left with what we see here in the video.

The placement of intelligent life on the moon and planets would be a more accepted practice for encouraging the people of Earth to colonize space, rather than dressing up like aliens and pretending to crash land, which is injurious. The best that American science fiction writers could come up with in that vein was LOST IN SPACE, which was not as effective as it should have been. We need something more real to get people on to space stations, lunar colonies and Martian expeditions.

This is not fake nor is it a ufo.
This was a failed reentery of the spacecraft Genesis that was sent out to gather bits of the solar wind and return in 2004.
It was going to be a strange capture to begin with. The plan was to use helicopters with hooks to try and snag the parachute on the spacecraft as it fell. However the parachute failed to open due to backwards installation of two critical sensors and it crashed to the ground.
What you see here is the footage of it's decent to doom.

Why would you want to snag something out of the air when it can be recovered on the ground after a nice soft parachute landing? Seems to me it would be a greater risk of damage and loss to perform such an operation than to let it land...

@jrstok1 Decent to doom? This thing was in virtually on piece when it crashed. This was probably a UFO that was tracked in space and somehow disabled using military weapons. What you see is a fantastic fall of a UFO and does not break into pieces, rather it stays almost intact.

However I have to disagree with you. This is the Genesis mission. The pictures on the NASA website show the spacecraft in it's collection configuration. Once all of those panels are closed and the main body of the spacecraft is expelled. You are left with what we see here in the video.

REAL DEAL THERE FOLKS!! there are fakes, there are possibilites, and there is this video that shows a shot down EFO this is the actual footage of a downed EFO fom early 2008 when we..I mean they shot it down as lightening prevented the craft from acceleating out of the lasers path..perfect shot, perfect knock down..and there were 4 survivers of the craft and one not so lucky marcian that lost his head in the wreck!!
