Fuck verizon Id go with another carrier in a heartbeat if they had coverage in my area. Also most verizon employees in stores are some of the most stuck up, suit wearing assholes ive ever seen.
The business and the profits belong to Verizon. These employees deserve nothing beyond what they agree to work for each pay period. If they don't like the wages, they can quit and find a job that pays more. If they'd rather strike than work, Verizon should obviously fire them and hire people willing to work. There are millions who would gladly work at the wages these people are paid.
@stewartx5 exactly. Consumers go to verizon for the phones and service. Its the executatives who plan out and make thse deals. These workers are simply the ones sitting in phone shops, and putting up the phone lines. There simply selling the phones the executives had to make deals to get. Their putting up phone lines that the managment planned out.
Commenting "smckeon"... Nice philosophy: money justify everything, isn't it ? Profit is good and shall have priority over anything. I wish you to experience the same situation that Verizon workers did. Just for fun !
What happened to, "We Will Last One Day Longer"?? LMAO. Good luck when you get back to work. Hope the managers treat you with the same respect you treated them!
@taxmino - sorry if you're unemployed. With that attitude, it's more likely to happen. Would you give up everything you had to a company making Billions from your efforts. If Verizon was able to take everything away from it's employee's then their certainly would not be a recovery. A recovery is dependent on people being able to spend, not losing their houses You should be a little more concerned with all these corporations sitting on record amounts of cash, while the middle class dwindles.
@taxmino -Didnt say you were, just sounded like it. First off, it's Verizon, not version. If corprations can have lobbyists for their interests, I can have a union for mine; and Verizon is the remnant of the Ma Bell, the owners are stock holders, of which I am one. I feel sorry for you that you feel you cannot ask for things, and must simply succumb to whatever others feel you are worth. The $6 Billion they earned in the first half of this year dictates they do not have to take my pension.
THE STRIKE HAS CONDITIONALLY ENDED! I would like to thank all that supported us through these tough times including the good lord above. The battle is won (for now) but the fight still continues and we will still continue to fight for workers rights everywhere. Again thank you for all your support and generosity!
Low life trash in the streets. If they were so smart and better than anyone else why dont they start their own business? Why suck off the ideas of others then demand top end pay for a shitty job they are doing running verizon into the ground. Unions are nothing but bitter drunks, dopeheads and lazy people demanding they do no work for high wages.
More power to you, I have fought the fight with Verizon and the 'little' guys work a lot harder than anyone realizes. I have friends and family working there and they have jumped thru hoops to use those health benefits when needed in a nut shell, drive unbelievably long drives for there jobs and now they want to cut there pay and such. GO FOR IT!!!
You are ALL fecal matter with legs....plain and simple. Half of you would be cleaning toilets, the other half would be sitting around in your trailers wearing wife beaters and cutoff jeans scratching your nuts all day if it wasn't for the unions protecting your pathetic simpleton jobs. LOOK AT YOU! Not a single one of you could make it in the real world...bunch of brain dead, fart sniffing rednecks who have no skills. I hope Verizon locks the doors and replaces you with labotomized monkies.
@yoomama415 you are one of the reasons the rich are getting richer! Just sit on your ass and do nothing and just take what they give you! Sorry the ones with balls fight and do what then can to make things better.
every single one of you are sacrificing your jobs, and therefore your family's well being, to fight against wealthy business people that aren't affected by your striking. Not to mention the workers that would rather get paid their regular wages than 7$ a day to get honked at by people who make no difference in their future. There are more important things in life than being right. Somethings aren't going to change, no matter how hard you fight or how long you picket.
Why is health care so expensive? Ever ask yourself when you get a bill from a doctor or hospital was does the band aid they put on you cost $5 when you can go to you pharmacy and buy 100 of them for that price. Its corporate greed that drives these cost. Haven't you had enough of this and if so stand up and fight!
To all you union haters, don't worry your heads will be on the chopping block next if this great country continues toward economic collapse. You need to look at the big picture and draw a line somewhere so this is a fight for the middle class not just for unions. Those with money & power will continue to hold on to it by any means necessary. If the unions fail then anyone making a halfway decent living will be the next target union or non-union. Then we'll have 2 classes. Where will you end up?
@FrankeeFraud That "take this job and shove it" attitude sounds great but it ultimately does nothing but punish the quitter and it's one of the reasons we have these bloated, greedy mega-corporations that pay off politicians to get whatever they want. You have to stand up and make these greedy corporations step up and do what's right not quit and walk away. That's what they want.
@MurphyDogRocksinMD Really? And I thought it was the greedy and corrupt UNIONS who pay off politicians (Obama got over 100 million from these dorks in '08, and probably more in '12), Don't like your job, then you shoulda finished high school!
@FrankeeFraud ...what an old racist prick you are. With a handle like "FrankeeFraud" I'm sure you thought bailing out the rich banks was just great,eh? Just remember this Mr. Fraud, you will NEVER be rich. You will NEVER be allowed in the restaurants & country clubs of the uber-rich that you defend. They piss on you and tell you it's raining and you smile & lick their boots. Real hard working Americans want a fair shake and while you might have no problem getting fucked in the dry ass... we do.
@ToolFan68 Well thank you, Karl Marx! And I thought you'd been dead for 100 years! Losers like yourself are not driven by success, but by ENVY. You HATE the wealthy- you think everyone should be making the same $7.00 an-hour at Radio Shack that you'll make till your sixty-five. And anyone making over minimum wage is on a "power trip" and it is up to THEM to bankroll your unambitious ass. Bullshit! If you can't be a success in the US, you can't be a success anywhere. Jealousy, will get....
Verizon should fire every employee who has walked off the job - plain and simple. Yes, it's American and you are welcome to have your union, and welcome to strike, but free enterprise means that Verizon doesn't have to employ your collective bargaining brothers and sisters if you don't do your damn job. The "middle class" jobs that you speak so highly of are often demolished by labor unions stepping on the middle class self employed worker because they refuse to join the collective. Wrong
@ToolFan68 LOL - Most people call it fiscally smart and having grown up and lived my life in blue collar area's of Pennsylvania I witnessed first hand the over reaching power of labor unions and what they do via both intimidation and their collective legal abilities against the little guy, or the person who chose not to join a union but instead run their own business. After 4 years of harassment, threats, and various legal challenges, the union won because the little guy was broke.
Please put on a military, police, fireman etc. uniform before you complain, these are jobs that actually need unions but that's right they can't strike because there jobs are needed to keep people alive!Corporate greed and corruption and union greed and corruption are not so different. The CEO's will take as much as they can get and so will this union. The only difference to me is they earned their jobs at the top and I'm sure a little who you know was involved,oh yeah Verizon nepotism at its best
unions suck and should be outlawed thats one reason for outsourcing so they dont have to put up with this crap been a non union splicer 26 years ,have done just fine with out giving my money to the mob unions protect the sorry while making money off the ignorant
Awesome video! This is really inspiring and I love the song. As a Verizon customer, I stand with all of the workers on strike fighting for fairness. Keep up the fight!
@blueline66 So then, the working stiffs are cry-babies because they are fighting to keep their pensions, but Verizon(Very Greedy)with it's multi-billion dollar profits is reasonable when it demands working stiffs give up their job security and old age pensions.......Hmm, something seems twisted here.
@redmenace1917 Yea like there isnt enough unemployed workers looking for jobs. duuuuuuuuu. Why dont one of your unions reps hall a freakin tv down there so you guys can catch up on curent events.Blind leading the blind god bless america.
It's fine to strike. But when you harass and spit on the hard working employees who work overtime, unpayed to full your slots. When you verbally assult them, swear at them. You people are the perfect example of greedy, fat, scum.
You people are lucky to be in a job now a days. Verizon wireless is the only reason this company is doing so well profit-wise. Land line is a failing industry and you are not showing your customers anything very impressive that will keep them with Verizon. What happens when all your customers are too embarrassed by you and leave for another company? Grow up...just remember that if a deal is made, you still have to come back to the company and the managers are not going to forget your actions.
I am a lineman for an electric Utility and WE REFUSE to replace any pole of Verizon's!!! STAND FAST VERIZON you have the support of all IBEW brothers and sisters not just those employed by Verizon!

And then when republicans cut that, you can just rot. And it'll be the same story for your kids' education. For the parks and utilities in the neighborhood you live in.
Strike all you want, that's your right, but throwing feces and spraying urine at managers, telling managers that you hope his wife and KIDS are gang raped, and sabotaging phone lines with the anniversary of 9/11 around the corner, is just plain disgusting. "Fighting for the middle class"?? You're just fighting for yourselves, you don't give a damn about the middle class! NO PUBLIC SYMPATHY HERE!
I understand that some of these folks think things they are being treated unfairly but they need to be happy to have a job right now. There are loads of people out there without jobs who would give their right leg for these people's spots.
Great video! Support all of you! Solidarity wins! Together we stand, divided we fall! Can't help but wonder how much these union Haters are paid. POWER TO THE PEOPLE!
Solidarity from Wisconsin! We've been raising money to send pizza to your picket lines (because it meant so much to us when people sent pizza to us in the Capitol from all over the world). Pizzas delivered so far to lines in NYC, Trenton, Syracuse, and Pittsburgh. Where should we hit next?
In Syracuse NY the workers are picketing a 1/4 mile from the old Carrier air conditioner plant which they moved out of the country because the workers kept asking for more more more. Now they have a big empty lot with thousands unemployed while the top people are still raking in the big bucks. It can also happen to Verizon, no one is immuned as the U.S. is for sale to the lowest bidder. Hell, congress makes big bucks and they don't give a shit about us.
@bklyndude77 China might have a "Communist" Party that is in control, but they are hardly socialist, or communist for that matter. The people of China are under authoritarian rule, and those in power give great freedoms to businesses.
@togra7 It has nothing to do with not liking where you work. It is disliking the theft of labor by the ruling class. The people are forced into wage slavery, not in the common sense as by hunger, but by threat of hunger, or of the hunger of their family.
@AndrewRayGorman you are only "forced" by a lack of truly valuable and marketable skills. You wouldn't have to go to all these lengths if other companies wanted your services. That's exactly the reason the execs make the money they do... simple laws of supply and demand.
@BobJones140 " you are only "forced" by a lack of truly valuable and marketable skills."
If our job wasn't union, I wouldn't have taken it. Many of us are well aware that building and maintaining both Copper and Fiber Outside Plant is a skill that's exclusive to RBOCs(Regional Bell Operating Companies), and would not have spent years learning how to build and maintain it safely and efficiently, if we knew our wages, benefits, and job protections would be taken from us. And so we fight for them.
@BobJones140 Jobs are made to be as unskilled as possible by design. It is a mode of industrialization called Taylorism. This makes those who sell their labor more replaceable in the event they strike or unionize for their rights. All profit not given to the worker is money stolen from them.
@AndrewRayGorman the worker does not deserve a piece of the profit. They deserve compensation for their services. Their compensation for their services is based on what the market is willing to pay (if only 1 company wants you - not as good as having 10 companies want you). This is capitalism. The system that created the middle class as well as upper/lower classes. There is no "fair" in capitalism, but there is every opportunity for you to go start your own company and keep all the profits.
@BobJones140 There is another term for what you propose - exploitation. We literally live in a system where the people are being exploited for their labor. There is something fundamentally wrong with the system when the CEO, who does hardly anything at all, makes the pay of about 400 of the companies workers a day. And it only increases if he cuts down on their pay, and out of economic necessity they stay as hard as they can, as these are living people with families to support.
@AndrewRayGorman this is a free country - go get any job you want. If you don't think that employer is compensating you appropriately for the value you produce you can start your own company. That freedom is why you can't claim any exploitation. It's sad that your skills aren't more in demand, so you can have companies bid for your services. But you can change that...and no one is stopping you. Go back to school. Take a small biz loan (interest rates are very low now).
@AndrewRayGorman CEO v labor comp disparity is a function of the same system that enables there to be a middle class. Capitalism compensates for value creation. Say in 1yr an installer connects 2 customers to a $150/mo service ea day. 5yr revenue = $4.3M (ur comp $75K). In 1yr the CEO gets $20B from investors to build a network then hires folks to design, engineer, construct, operate, sell. whips them to get it done. 5yr rev = $50B (his comp $7M). what if he didn't do his job?
WHAT THE HELL WAS THIS?? A video straight from barack obama . gov? Oh those BIG EVIL CORPORATIONS who by the way just happens to employ you jokers. Hopefully Verizon has the balls to give these unemployed strikers three days to return to work or eliminate their positions.
@Leaderoftheplanet Suppose I am your worker and you are my employer. If I offer my labor at the lowest price, [...] No, I do it because my family and I would starve to death if I did not work for an employer. Thus I am forced to sell you my labor at the lowest possible price, and I am forced to do it by the threat of hunger. - Bakunin
This order of things cannot always endure - Eugene V. Debs.
We need to destroy this system of exploitation of labor. Verizon strikers, good luck!
These blow hards would not know what a real days work is...... CO techs, field techs and CSR's jobs monkeys could do !!!!! Funny it takes the union workers 10x longer to do a simple task then a company who does not have union workers!! These land line dinosaurs have to go !!
@albyva I'm surpised you have time to comment shouldn't you be getting ready for your second or thrid low paying job. CWA is fighting against corporate greed and the out sourcing of jobs that THIS country needs. Verizon should want to share it's profits with the people who built and maintain they network that makes them BILLIONS in profits every year while paying zero in federal income taxes. Do some research.
Awesome video! Know that you are supported. I stood on the picket lines with my community members twice this week and there is a big rally this weekend. Solidarity forever!
Anyone employed in this country knows how important this fight is. Today it's Verizon screwing their employees, tomorrow it's your employer. Strong union = strong middle class = strong America!

It can also happen to Verizon, no one is immuned as the U.S. is for sale to the lowest bidder. Hell, congress makes big bucks and they don't give a shit about us.

Respond to this video... 9 people need to move to china
bklyndude77 6 months ago
@bklyndude77 China might have a "Communist" Party that is in control, but they are hardly socialist, or communist for that matter. The people of China are under authoritarian rule, and those in power give great freedoms to businesses.

@AndrewRayGorman Right on. China is much closer to Fascism, which is a Right Wing ideology.

If you don't like working for Verizon, find a different place to work.
togra7 6 months ago
@togra7 It has nothing to do with not liking where you work. It is disliking the theft of labor by the ruling class. The people are forced into wage slavery, not in the common sense as by hunger, but by threat of hunger, or of the hunger of their family.
AndrewRayGorman 6 months ago
@AndrewRayGorman you are only "forced" by a lack of truly valuable and marketable skills. You wouldn't have to go to all these lengths if other companies wanted your services. That's exactly the reason the execs make the money they do... simple laws of supply and demand.
BobJones140 6 months ago 2
@BobJones140 " you are only "forced" by a lack of truly valuable and marketable skills."
If our job wasn't union, I wouldn't have taken it. Many of us are well aware that building and maintaining both Copper and Fiber Outside Plant is a skill that's exclusive to RBOCs(Regional Bell Operating Companies), and would not have spent years learning how to build and maintain it safely and efficiently, if we knew our wages, benefits, and job protections would be taken from us. And so we fight for them.
JakDerrida 6 months ago
@BobJones140 Jobs are made to be as unskilled as possible by design. It is a mode of industrialization called Taylorism. This makes those who sell their labor more replaceable in the event they strike or unionize for their rights. All profit not given to the worker is money stolen from them.
AndrewRayGorman 6 months ago
@AndrewRayGorman the worker does not deserve a piece of the profit. They deserve compensation for their services. Their compensation for their services is based on what the market is willing to pay (if only 1 company wants you - not as good as having 10 companies want you). This is capitalism. The system that created the middle class as well as upper/lower classes. There is no "fair" in capitalism, but there is every opportunity for you to go start your own company and keep all the profits.
BobJones140 6 months ago
@BobJones140 There is another term for what you propose - exploitation. We literally live in a system where the people are being exploited for their labor. There is something fundamentally wrong with the system when the CEO, who does hardly anything at all, makes the pay of about 400 of the companies workers a day. And it only increases if he cuts down on their pay, and out of economic necessity they stay as hard as they can, as these are living people with families to support.
AndrewRayGorman 6 months ago
@AndrewRayGorman this is a free country - go get any job you want. If you don't think that employer is compensating you appropriately for the value you produce you can start your own company. That freedom is why you can't claim any exploitation. It's sad that your skills aren't more in demand, so you can have companies bid for your services. But you can change that...and no one is stopping you. Go back to school. Take a small biz loan (interest rates are very low now).
BobJones140 6 months ago
