Ive bought one of these and for the money they are superb, i have coaxed some really lush sounds from mine, i use mine along side a few other synths including a virus and a jv1080, the sh cuts through the mix really nicely.
@hyogen82 Just depends on your usage style. I'd suggest an SH-201 over a JP-8000 because it is easier to integrate. But if you want to do the whole JP-8000 route nothing stopping you but some goolging, Ebaying, and Craigslisting.
The 201 has its own sorta weird plasticy sound, but once you look past that and accept it, you can create some bangin sounds with it: its got a great arpeggiator, FB oscillator, reverb and delay, 2 timbres, sweet modwheel programming capabilities, etc.
I know of a few. Just browsing on Muscian's Friend you can get the Alesis Micron, Korg MicroKorg, Novation XioSynth 25, Akai Miniak, Novation XioSynth 49, and Dave Smith Instruments Mopho for under $500. Remember that a synthesizer is an instrument just like a Guitar or something, and people pay a lot for those. Same thing applies to Synthesizers. And yes, I'm having way too much fun with this thing.
I've messed with several Soft Synths, but nothing I've ever heard compares to this. I mean just how rich and powerful pads are. The basslines it can create are stellar. Leads can pierce through a mix bringing a track to a screaming climax. I think it is. Honestly, I can think of a few monophonic analog synths that are 5 times as expensive that I want. But this thing is a great way to cut my teeth into the world of synthesis.
@Neonicss "all the money" !! This doesn't cost a fortune to buy. It was a few hundred $ brand new, and you can find it for about $ 400 used or even less.

Superb patches you have created by the way.

very nice. makes me want to get another (i sold mine).
was thinking about getting sh-01, but i tried it and it didn't impress me (i'm new to synths though)...
i'm debating on this or an old JP-8000 which is the best for trance :O
