She does speak German - maybe not as fluently as she speaks Italian, French, English, etc. But I'm sure she definitely understands what she sings.

If she doesnt speak german she has studied the words and their meanings without doubt. Opera singers frequently sing in languages they dont speak.

BTW, she does absolutely right here. This is dancing music that was written by Strauss to have fun. Maybe the ochestra should better play in an Andre Rieu style. (I am not normally a Rieu Fan, but he does this waltz perfectly)
