left all 4 cats in though lol, so not really a straight pipe. Still a nice sound. Im going to do this with my 97 Eddie bauer 4x4... lifted of course lol
Ok muffler expert. I have a 2003 Expedition with the 4.6L. I want a better sounding muffler, but I dont want volume os much. I want it to sound good, but not be much louder than stock.. what wouold you recommend?
get an 18" body magnaflow. they arent much louder than sock but sound nice. 14" body sounds even better but still not too loud. you can look em up on youtube to hear them and make a decision
cherry bomb glasspack.. Honestly. Everyone thinks cherry bombs are redneck but all I did on my 2002 Durango was cut the muffler out, weld the glasspack in. It sounds a little louder than stock, and it's throaty. No snap crackle or pop. No drone going down the road at cruising speed. It sounds perfect.
i have a 97 expedition with the 5.4 and on a dyno it ran 233hp, and i've heard the 98's and up have 260-300 hp, btw i cant wait until i straight pipe my expy, so sexy!
you know what for a fact? its possible to put out 355 on a stock 5.4 with PIPES?.......well buddy, you'd better get the facts or the facts will get you.
yeah well, this ones not a 05 or newer, its a 99 with god knows how many miles on it, and the pre-05 5.4's (how do we even know this guy isnt running a 4.6?) arent even CLOSE to the 300 horsepower mark stock, i think ford is overshooting its potential even in saying that the new ones are 300+ HP stock.
First of all if you knew much about what you were talking about you'd know the F-Series along with Mustangs, and even the Lightning all use the same engines. The 5.4L even the 99 version came close to 292HP, not hard to get 355 out of a gasoline motor, especially with a tuner. Diesel is even easier, but a gasser yeah HP can increase over something as small as a K&N Cold Air In-take, or some people add RAM air, giving them 10HP more. I've seen people Dynoing them, the Triton is a solid engine.
The 09's are even more peppier, and yes Ford does deliver around 300 RWHP. The modular engines hold well to any mods. I know a guy who just removed his stock Exhaust Manifold, and replaced it with headers he got from a welding shop, got him 30-35 more HP over stock. Flowmaster boast at least a 40HP gain on most engines. Really dude I think I know a bit more then you. Theres a dyno here at the local college autoshop.
really dude? you think you know more than me? really dude?..........im done arguing about this video and with you, but good job at having a dyno at your school, i was a technician at a 2 ford dealerships with 3+ years of ford factory training........but im sure because you know the whereabouts of a dyno you know much more about the subject than i.
Ford training? LOL. Yeah next time my Powerstroke 6.4L breaks down I'll drive it up to the dealership and let the idiots up there take a look at it. My last 7.3L that had over 800k miles on it had a lifter going bad they swore it was a rod knocking...
The Ford 4.6L Short Block can do 451 HP with little to no help from tuners. I guess the mustang peeps are fools to.
i went to an exhaust shop where i knew the owner and all he did was cut out the muffler and weld in a pipe where the muffler was. On march 9th i rolled the expedition 8 times so it's gone
awesome

you can listen to mine. I have a 1999 Expedition with a 4.6L. I cut my muffler off and it's not to loud. Dynomax is a good one and rather cheap.

It is a fact, with a tuner, and straights yes. Especially with the 05's and newer.. They are 300HP stock.
