Raising the minimum wage, unfortunately, would be economically disastrous. It would result in a lot of people working in marginally profitable businesses loosing their jobs. It would result in many service businesses charging higher prices, meaning you buy less, meaning less demand for business and therefor even less jobs. It would also result in an even larger number of jobs being shipped out of country.

As an Australian, I am interested to see the result of this election due to the consequences it could have for Australians. Under the free trade agreement, laws, military commitments and even foreign policy is affected. American copyright laws have already been passed here with little debate (as it basically compulsory) and the rest of our region is starting to hate us as well (damn Howard). What a cheap shot. The only claim is stem cell research. We can't leave Iraq, it would give terrorists even more power. Sure, we can have gov't funded health care, but prepare to wait years in line for an operation (see Canada). Raising min. wage to over $7 would cost a lot of ppl in that wage bracket a job. We're losing jobs overseas, but we're also creating tons of new jobs that are better. Stock market at record high. Dems are making Congress do nothing.

Raising the minimum wage, unfortunately, would be economically disastrous. It would result in a lot of people working in marginally profitable businesses loosing their jobs. It would result in many service businesses charging higher prices, meaning you buy less, meaning less demand for business and therefor even less jobs. It would also result in an even larger number of jobs being shipped out of country.

I don't expect you to understand but stocks are not generally up - just the DJ avg. The DJ is made up of large safe stocks which are invested in prior to an expected market downturn. Work is not the way nearly all people become wealthy. Most of the rich are that way because someone gave them money. We do not live in a pure capitalist country. People die in hurricaines thats why they have mandatory evacuations 2 weeks before it hits, im not saying the response was wonderful but it was because people didn't expect it to be that bad, no one. I hate people play monday morning quarterback.

Who gives a crap about Monica, or the other whores he nailed. I look at the fact that he helped arm North Korea, and he didn't even bother with terrorism. How about his failed promise to improve health care. How about NAFTA, the welfare repeal bill? The Illegal war in Yugoslavia? Environmental damage. etc...
