  • The group is Spare Parts, a barbershop quartet that originated in Akron Mennonite Church.

  • @jimshe53 Thanks for letting me know! I've had so many questions.... Blessings

  • @jimshe53 My maternal grandmother was Amish from the Bern, Indiana area. I don't know how many times I've heard this game played. Never heard the song before, just went through the game with different relatives trying to figure out how I fit into the family.

  • This is great! Didn't recognize the Goshen pic, but still recognize the game, been there done that many times. I miss playing it.

  • wow scott

  • Thank you! Getting ready to speak to a bunch of youth in NW Ohio and I just loved this!!!! Made me smile and giggle...how I so do not look like my mennonite heritage LOL

  • At 38 seconds the group of Charity youth are shown, that's my youth group from the 90's singing in Central Park! Small world indeed. (My married last name is Raber btw) ;)

  • @knittenkiten Wow@! That's really neat! It is truly a small world indeed!

  • So you really just grabbed random pictures found on google? When did you make this video?

I find it extremely ironic - I know some of these people, and I recognize a number of the places from where the pictures are from. I find it extremely fascinating that a number of the pictures are from Belize, and copyrighted by a Belizian photographer Tony Rath! :)

  • @delmarpenner I made it on 4/13/11. I just googled Mennonite images and picked those. I have no knowledge of who they are, except for what viewers and friends have said in their comments. What I find fascinating is that what was intended for a little tribute to my local Mennonite friends, has spread to Mennonites all over the country. The words used in this version refer to local county Mennonite schools, families, ... I am not, myself, Mennonite. I am humbled by the appreciation of others.

  • Linda, which barbershop quartet is it that sings the song. Being a former barbershopper myself, I know the style and these guys are VERY good!!

  • I went to a Mennonite Music camp for 5 years when I was a teenager - I always felt left out because I myself was Methodist and could therefore never play the Mennonite game - let me tell you - the connections between some of the campers and counselors were ridiculous!!

  • No wonder why Floyd Landis moved away to race his bike! Just poking fun there, this video is real America of people as true as could be

  • Another funny thing about the professor (or was it administration? - the two men, one older order), is when I was googling for pics, I grabbed this one, then I looked at the description. It's from Goshen...hehe! In the wedding scene, DIck Stauffer's nephew is in it. Small Mennonite world, indeed.

  • And the scary part of this is.....the part about the professor totally happened to me when I went to college! Yikes - once a Mennonite, always Mennonite! =)

  • Thanks Steph... I forgot to send you the link, I guess. I did post it in status months ago, but I'm sorry. I had a lot of fun with it and many have commented, much to my surprise! So glad you enjoyed!

  • Linda, this is soooo amazing! I only just watched this for the first time....2 amazing! (And the story of my life!) =P

  • A ture Mennonite to suggest 606! Gotta love it. I have one Mennonite grandparent and still managed to marry a fourth cousin. Just can't get away from them (relatives, that is).

  • If I recognize several people in several different picture, does that make me a Mennonite? lol Let the games continue....

  • That was a fun watch. Thanks for making it. Brings back memories

  • great photos! should have added 606 as background music :-)

  • I'm sorry. I googled "Mennonite" and that is where I got the pictures from. As it turns out, some of my local friends have seem their relatives in some of the pictures as well. I wish I could help further, but you can try what I did, and click on Images, so you can see them too.

  • Does anyone know where the photo of the women quilting was taken? My great grandmother is the one sitting on the left in the black dress.

  • I agree... we need one for the Franconia Conference. Though no matter what conference we were visiting, my dad would play the game for hours... determined to find a connection! Almost always happened :)

  • Great video Linda, now lets see, if you are from "this" area, then you might be an Atlantic Coast Conf. girl, which means you are probably related to a Kennel or Yoder or have some Weaver cousins :) I grew up listening to my Dad play this game and way to soon became my father when I started meeting people! Thanks for the work that went into this.

  • Great.....now someone should remake it for Franconia conference.....little bit different names and places, but the same game!

  • Thanks for that lovely window into your world.
