sorry to break it to you but that is NOT a year old in this video, not even close. A year old snake would probably be around 2ft (max) and would only be the diameter of your thumb. And Caesar is a female.

The risk is that a rat bite can do some SERIOUS damage to a snake. Rat bites are somewhere around 7000 psi. A human bite is something like 300-400. A lot of damage can be done to eyes/internal organs and even bones if the rat bites hard enough in the right place. This is why it is suggested to feed pre-killed, but this is not always possible, and sometimes a snake will refuse to eat pre-killed.

I had my snake since 1991. It's had it's share of battle scars. Once, he caught an aggressive rat by it's tail and just partially coiled it. The rat was able to take bites. Sounded like eating an apple. By INSTINCT, snake slipped an awesome coil and killed the rat.
