No artist is complete in a way. Complete is God only. Ustad Nusrat was very skillful iin middle and higher octaves but in lower octave he was not impressive at all. Secondly he was very good at sargam taans and tihais but his Aakar taans were not that appealing. Have you ever seen Ustad Nusrat singing classical with a pair of Tanpuras only ( Without harmonium )? One who can sing and impress without the support of harm-onium is a real singer in the sub-continent.

i dont understand why faqeer sb have given such comments but i can understand it is just ridiculous. Rafi sbs voice suits film songs only while nfak sbs voice is melliflous for qawwalis, ghazals raags. no body can compete khan sb in this format thts for sure. its your childish thought that rafi sb is better than nfak. it is some thing different that u just like to hear rafi sbs songs but in knowledge of music no body can compete khan sb. and in tabla tari khan is mind blowing

Rafi's voice had real beauty. He was a very trained classical singer better trained than Ustad Nusrat but he was a Classical and Ghazal singer, if he ever sang anything like Qawwali even you would see his voice lacked power. Nusrat's voice on the other hand is perhaps the most powerful ever recorded, not for nothing could be carry a song on its weight.

to speak about music or about any artist one should have deep knowledge in classical music and listen tons of indian clasical music.Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali khan was a briliant singer with an amaizing voice and deep knowledge in indian classical music. Ofcourse that his voice was trained in the qawwali style and because of that he could sing in such a high pitch.But this doesn't make his singing less beautiful.His death is such a big loss for both pakistani and indian music.May God bless his soul!
