10 000?! there is at least that many in the gold coast alone! I notice that the surfers and waveskiers are on opposite sides of the beach though. To me that is retarded anyway because i am a big fan of all self propelled water things most of all.
I surf and love surfing, and what you do is cool, and in my opinion it is surfing - just like bodyboarding and bodysurfing is surfing... It's really disappointing how many unfriendly dicks there are out in the line up these days. Surfers need to respect each other and respect the ocean.
@TheBackcountryski i saw a vid where some guys mounted alpine bindings to water skis and did a tow in to some decent sized waves, it was sick, this is just sitting on a surfboard

@phil656565 sigh... im stuck in Seattle... plenty of pow over the winter though! I did a great trip with North Cascades Mountain Guides.! Got to use some demo Skis, dynafit monaslu, loved the front rocker.
@TheBackcountryski sounds great, ive always wanted to try some rockered skis, i use an old pair of rossi bandit xXx's for pow, theyre a handfull but they love speed

I am one of the 10k waveskiers out there and one of the maybe 20 or so in SD...
let's bring the sport to the forefront just like SUP's have done...
if you are ever at Tourmaline paddle over and say hi, I'll be the only one sitting down on a wave...

I just got a waveski a few months ago and surf the south shore of Maui 3 to 4 days a week, it's just me and a very few others!
