@lewisstorer89 i have the 6505+ and the back panel is totally different to the normal 6505. which sucks because the + version uses a 9 pin din jack for the foot controller where as the normal 6505 uses a straight 1/4 inch jack.
I have never ever used a tone knob, those things just make no sense to me and I have played in cover bands for 30yrs. Maybe for jazz or if I was playing music from the 50's, I cant get paid playing that stuff, people wanna dance yo.
i love that he uses mostly gear either as a tribute to someone or they're signature stuff. its refreshing to have a great guitarist use what normal players use
I am so jelly of the polka dotted V. Randy is my favorite guitarist of all time and i love Phil's signature V. even though i don't listen to Machinehead, their Iron Maiden "Hallowed be thy Name" cover was kick ass; easily the best cover.
In all my guitars, the tone knob has been bypassed (wide ass open) and in place I use a rotary kill switch. Very cool. I can get that studdering, machinegun sound without using the pickup selector. And when you want it quiet, it's off immediatly. Rock on Machine Head!
Doing a 500 word essay on him, its taken me like a week cause I end up just sitting here watching these videos and listening to Machine Head all night
@BangLikeABassist Year 10, it was on a sports person/musician with mental health issues, and seeing as he has/had depression I thought I might as well do it on Phil :P
@MikleShnikle no he meant randy rhodes. look up his polka dot v. randy may have been giving a shout out to buddy but phil is definitely calling out randy.
@Theshredder1712 I never said he wasn't good lol I am just saying that a lot of gear doesn't make you play good. The person I replied to said " man if i had all of that crap i would be amazing at playing guitar, cant wait to get my demmelition jackson. I absolutly love machine head!!!!"
@diabeticmonkey No problem. But the neck will be different, just like the neck is different between Demmel's and the KV2. The KV2T has the same neck as the pro SLS3 hardtail (the white one).
You know this band is heavy metal at its best and Phil is so just down to earth and cool person. I am going to get the PDX version, have kids and can't afford the 1250 version. Going to start a christian metal band when iget home form Iraq.
@1919sean1 i just bought the pdx version last week. it is amazing. seriously, with the price difference, its so worth it to buy the pdx version. u dont notice the bolt on till ur at the 22nd fret, the jackson floyd plays and stays in tune exactly like the original, the pickups are okay, i'd suggest changing them for actives like i will. but ur making a good decision, its a great guitar for the price.
A bottle of Fabreeze. and i personally love the tone knob. the guitar's for me really never have enough crunch. i like the tone and i intend to change the meaning of metal as in 1983 tharsh metal.
He had two of the Rhoads tribute guitars made. He's got one and another guy from Dublin that he grew up with. I keep buggin him that I want one but its not workin yet! Phil is an awsome dude and very down to earth. just another one of us from Dublin Ca, and knows where his roots and friends are. Dublin has produced some great names in the business and Phil has done us proud. But I still want one of those fucking Rhoads axes bro!!! You know who this is...
Phil's got the right idea. The tone controls on the guitar itself are such a waste of space. They're a pain in the ass to use, they're not really that good anyway, they get in the way.
We here in Sanctuary respect phil... Brilliant musician and he doesn't have a rig complicated as hell.. Down to earth guy and has fantastic taste in instruments which is why I actually own one of his signature Jackson models
"nobody uses tone in metal"? Well no wonder he sucks. He just insulted a lot of metal guitarists. Of course you need tone, unless you just wanna make annoying sound.
@werbnnerf he said no on uses tone controls in metal. he's talking about the tone controls on his guitars. most metal guitarists don't use the tone controls on their guitars. tone comes from your hands mostly and your amp for the rest of your tone.
