  • here we can hear the rythmic structure in eugene d alberts interpretation which is not so easy to understand in the pianorolls recordings he made.

A very delicate interpretation which is far from the heavy and slow interpretations we are so much used to hear.... Brahms image changes when hearing this.....

  • Thank you for uploading this. Do you know what pieces exactly d'Albert worked with Brahms?

  • He worked on many pieces with Brahms: the concertos, the Handel and Paganini Variations, and the Sonata op. 5 most imporantly. His interpretation of the 1st D minor concerto was the benchmark in the later 19th century: Brahms conducted it while d'Albert played in 1895. This performance was the first successful performance of the work, which had completely flopped at its premier in 1859. The two men shared a huge mutual esteem, as is seen from their letters.

  • Dont know..it souds rushed (compared to what one usually hears) but certainly capricious.
