I went out yesterday with some friends in Ferraris for a little blast. Drove a 250 GT PF cab. Will be uploading video soon, if you want to hear a Columbo V12.
what a joy to see this videos! MANY THANKS! the Steve McQueen story only added up to the already amazing stories on some epic cars you drove and the people whom you had driving along. Again, thanks and keep more videos like that coming. If only I had been there to watch, drive and enjoy those great moments. Kind regrads from Spain! Subscribed!
Stephen, thanks so much for sharing this. It's such a treat to see the brief era when these cars weren't the "assets" they are today, but rather 'fun machines.' You clearly got yours in. I'm going to hit MHD this weekend on the way to Paramount Ranch to see the old track. Will send you a good thought. Cheers!
Man what memories. The first time i met Peter Helm, when i was in LA visiting Joey Heatherton, he took me for the scariest ride of my life in his Ferrari. I'll never forget it. But what I'll never forget is he had installed a home stereo tape player in that car and it was the first time that anyone had ever had a tape player in any car. When I got back to NY, the first thing I did was to put one in my car. Peter was awesome and i hope to see him again after all these years.
Peter is coming tonight to my Wednesday gatherings and I've sent you Peter's phone number via PM. You can see more of Peter from that era in the Willow Springs video on my profile.
More of this!! Best clips ever!! You have a really nice storytelling voice by the way. You almost don't miss the sounds of hi revving V12s.... almost :)
I'm taking a 430 up to Mulholland Drive right now to try and capture some of the spirit of this clip. Yeah it won't be the same as being with Peter in a GTO but.....
Thank you SO much for posting this incredible glimpse of another era. It's a truly great thing to see these incredible machines being used (in what is today my own backyard) rather than worshiped as they are today. While the idolatry of the marque and model may be warranted in some books, a GTO or Cal Spyder was made to be enjoyed. And you clearly enjoyed yours. Cheers! -P
Despite not being the most technically great video ever, this film can transport you back like few others. Very fitting narration, awesome soundtrack, unbelievable anecdotes. You inspire me to build a perfect replica GTO, that is, if I don't become a multi-millionaire. Cheers
Mr. Mitchell once again delivers! Whether writing/directing films, or compiling documentaries, he presents his material with an inherent intelligence and enthusiasm which is infectious. How about an autobiography? Note: this is one of many such cars owned by Mr. Mitchell at one time or another.
Absoulutely incredible! It captures a time, a lifestyle and a society that seems but a dim memory. And let us not forget about the cars! Your voiceover is wonderful and almost makes me not wish for the sounds of the snarling 12s. Almost.
What a fantastic video- I'd love to see more of this sort of thing. Your commentary, as beautiful and captivating as these cars are, is what made it good. Thank you.

Amazing movie. I really wish I could go back in time and buy as many of these cars as I could, and I would never sell them.
