There is a free way to have your esn cleared for activation. If you purchase your phone legitimately you contact customer service for the carrier and explain how you came about ownership of the phone. As long as your story is valid they may clear it. Each is done on a case by case basis and may require many hours on the phone as well as a number of attempts. You have to determine yourself whether it is worth the effort to try. It is not in the best interest of the carrier to clear a bad esn.
i have 2 old samsung vx 8100 phones that after 3 years I go on and it still comes on to contact verizon and they were my phones not stolen, just stopped the service when I moved to an area that couldnt receive verizon siginal, they still wanted me to pay for another year even though I had to get another phone. Can I unlock these some way? cute little phones, or could I get there pay as you go as I have moved where I get all cell receptions
@200saluma you can't clear it unless u know someone who works at verizon and they do it for u but even that way I don't think id be possible please anyone correct me if I'm wrong
@200saluma I absolutely recommend that you do not even try to attempt to work around this phone and try getting rid of the esn. ESN means the phone was either lost or stolen. Being that its a Verizon, it quite unusual for someone to lose it quickly so its most likely stolen... In addition these iphones are gps trackable. Theres a app that as soon the phone is activated, it sends signals that pinpoint your position. So good luck.
@jmar0015 A bad ESN doesn't always mean that the phone was lost or stolen. It can also be bad if the customer didn't pay their bill and has outstanding fees but after a while it will clear on Verizon I know that, not sure about Sprint.
LOOK PEOPLE! A bad ESN doesn't mean the phone was lost/stolen it USUALLY means that the bill was not paid and was shut off by the service provider.
