What I know - I attended a presentation at the Saab owners convention a week after this event. The panels are made from carbon fiber that was laid up on 9-3, so all panels are slightly bigger than a std model.The block is a Saab 4 cyl block. The system got so hot on the way up it melted the intake filter and it got sucked into the turbo. Per didn't have full power for the last third of the run.I spoke with him as he was leaving, while he was removing the brains... to "work on it" he said...

Not so. The engine is a Saab engine and the body is a modified Saab Shell. A lot closer to a stock Saab then say a Nascar car is to its equivalent.

The cars are all in groups. every group has different regulation. The car seen in this video is not the car he set the record with, that car looked like standard saab, only it was not... There is a video on here called pikes peak 2000 or something where you can see the actual race with the ecopower SAAB 93

Its a hillclimb race no more no less. Cars are all made specially for this and never race anywhere els... As the regulation in any other race would prevent this from entering.

By the way did you all know Per Eklund was born in 1946 and set his record in the pikes peak race in 2000... My god he was old

@nilev74 Well i'm from scandinavia and i know that this is Eklunds rallycross car just with more boost and aerodynamics + suspension settings and tires. Just like Grönholm's fiesta was. So basicly these cars are not specially build for this, they are just modded for this...

@AFV918 This pikes peak car is built straight and only for the pikes peak race. Nothing more. Per eklund built it for this, raced with it and now it stands in the Saab Museum here in Trollhättan, Sweden, collecting dust. All though he built it having his rallycross 9-3 as reference. But this is not his rallycross car.
