My sympathies to the family of this young girl who clearly and desperately was looking for love, via acceptance in the wrong places. Very tragic.

....wow..... well, seeing as those people willingly step up even after they watch season after season of people being berated by the judges especially simon it's their own damn fault. dont get me wrong, i feel horrible about what's happened but i don't see how it's fair to place blame on paula when she did nothing but her job. I agree with MMMAUGUST18, it's her family's fault. they should have known she was mentally unstable and should not have let her audition and should have gotten her help

American Idol is NOT responsible! She auditioned season 5 NOT season 1 so she should have known better. She should have expected to be criticize. She should have realized that they were setting her up when (as noted in her blog) the producers told her to wear the same outfit and immediately told her that she was "good" without letting her finish her song during the pre-auditions.
