  • sweet! can you control direction?

  • @pofrani Only up and down, the wind does the rest.

  • Hei, really nice hot air balloon, how many cubic meters it is? And have you tested the max liftoff weight? Its is very interesting to know.

  • That would be more fun than flying a kite! Wish I had one!

  • Cool concept!

  • You know what you need? HYDROGEN! and HV ignition..get her up several hundred feet and hit the spark! YEAH baby! Now THAT would make good video! I'd pay to see it!

  • Why don't you just hold that valve on and let her FLY! It is frustrating and frankly boring watching it bob up and down 10 feet off the ground! What fun is THAT???

  • That is amazing, I bet you could sell those

  • @GPVlog there are people that do.

  • how did you rig the weed burner with the rc system?

  • @Fascistburrito43 i bought a small blast valve and put it in fule line and attached the R/C system from a local hobby R/C store.

  • too much weight but its a cool balloon

  • Being able to lift a propane tank is plenty impressive. Though, I felt the video was too long for what it was. I kind of expected more for 9 minutes...

  • Dear All,

I have some questions about psychology:

    (1) Why do we love flying?

    (2) Why do we like to fly hot-air-balloon?

    (3) Why do we enjoy to design and to make balloons with various funny and cartoon shapes?

    (4) Why do like to fly and to watch hot-air-balloon with funny or cartoon shapes?

    (5) What is the enjoyment to fly hot-air-balloon comparing with that on an aeroplane?

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE for your creative ideas and brainstorm!!! :)

  • @applesweeter theres always some idiot leaving a comment like this. idiot

  • @applesweeter

1 we love flying, becose most of our life we're on the ground

2 hot air balloons are cheap and silent

3 we enjoy to make funny balloons funny shappes becose they're sponsors

4 we like to wach hot-air-balloon with funny or cartoon shapes becose they entertain us

5 hot air balloons are more silentand cheap than a aeroplane, and you have more time to enjoy the wiev

  • This is the coolest thing I have seen on youtube this month.

  • how long can be the ballon in the air?

  • @fariloopz maybe 30 minutes

  • thats awsome rofl

  • I f you made your own RC Hot air balloon, how hard would it be to make your own passenger hot air balloon (around 54-77,000 cubic feet)? I'm looking into this myself but don't know where to start.........and the only other pilot's I know of that have done this, I have no way to contact them for information. Would be much appriciated if you have any advice!

  • Best toy ever!

  • how did you make the burner plz help me !

  • @afabandjon , it is a weed buner

  • is that a propane tank

  • @jabbawockeezrock101 , Yes it is a 1 gallon tank

  • now that my friend, is cool!!

  • wow it big

  • What is it made of thanks.

  • @mixmastamike1 . Ripstop nylon.

  • thats what real hot air balloons are for.

  • I'm just sayin.

  • needed some tuning on the burner system.

  • are you planning to take remote or video areial photos with this? if not, what's the point?

  • u could easily put some directional control in it mate, stick a brushless motor either sideand you should be able ot bring her back if it goes off too far.

  • @angrygunsmith thts a good idea, but when the ballon spins the controls will be inverted....

  • that looks so dangerous

  • hmm a 2700 cubic volume should only lift all in all 48 pounds, that is the envelope, the fuel and the payload.. how come you said 105 unless I am miss understanding something here

  • for how much will you sell it for

  • $1000.00 USD

  • LOL f0 u

  • is the only control, flame on?

  • yes, on or off

  • Oh right so I guess it has to be a real light wind, otherwise you gotta chase it, or can you keep it on a string just incase? (dangerous around power lines tho) Its an amazing balloon did you make it aswell as add the remote kit?

Does it have a pilot flame of does it spark up every time you hit the on button? You should get some camera footage from above !!

  • it has a pilot light. I made everything except the remote controle system.

  • What's the volume of the balloon, and how much can it lift approximately? I know it depends on the heat of the air, but aproximately.

  • 2700 cubic feet, total lift is around 55 pounds. and the balloon weighs around 50 pounds with fule.

  • so the gross total balloon and payloadweight is 105 ?

  • @leviterande total lift it 55 pounds including the balloon.

  • hahaha, the dog barking. its so typical to hear dogs barking when hot air ballooning in real size.

  • you should commission these.

  • how did you make it it is really cool

  • i love this toy i very very vant this

  • Thats all well and good, But how can you you mak it really high? and follow it and land it :L XD

  • The R/C unit will only work for about 500 feet any further than that it would be on its own and you would not have any control.

  • What did you use to creat heat in the balloon?

  • weed burner and custom tubing.

  • But how?:)

  • wow! cool.

    how the ballon was made?

  • i made it myself

  • That was a test fly?

Put a litle camera on board ! Thats would be amazing :)

    5/5 aniway !

    Nagyon nagyon durva :)!

  • u should make it fly really high nd chase it with ur car

  • R/C only works for so far after that you would not have any control.

  • oh yes of course i forgot i fly planes i dont fly balloons but they are pretty interesting

  • very cool. I free flight my envelopes only. Heard about the rc's in albequrque. Replace your bottom 2 ft w/ nomex.

  • Any chance you want to sell the envelope? Where did you get the material from? Thanks!

  • yes

  • you'l burn your huose down.

  • no...........not yet............

  • Why do they only fly like 10 meters from the ground?

  • that is oooooofiiiiiicallll i lovvvve it thats great work

  • Funny toys for big boys ! Really awesome .. if you won`t get a fire started :) !

  • I want one!! but there rather expensive

  • what material did you use for the balloon? how close are you now to getting up in the air yourself? is it possible to build a mountable hot air balloon at home? i would be willing to invest serious amounts of my time/money to do this.... NICE JOB!

  • Damn looks like so much fun, All you need is a 360degree camera attached to it ;)

  • tie some rope to that bitch and lets see her fly

  • awesome i want an rc so bad!

  • if you were already burning hydrogen, why not just heat water into steam to move turbines?

  • That was great. Nice one. Look forward to the next flight.

  • nice idea

  • I don't think it would be cost effective to use as a turbine. The cost of propane used to keep it in the air would never be made back in the electricity production. A helium balloon would work much better to lift a trubine into faster wind streams.

  • how much are you selling these for theyre cool

  • Woo!! :D :D Hot-air Balloon!! :D :D

  • can we have more videos

  • how did you make the bruner?

  • very good work

  • very good.

  • thats so cool!!:O

  • I would be interested in a tethered one, to lift a 2 pounds camera. I already do aerial pictures from kites and blimps, the hot air balloon would be an interesting alternative.

Would you please send me a quote ?

    Cheers

    Philippe

  • how much would u sell that for or make me 1

  • please check your message box for the answer to your question.

  • Great Job!! I liked it!

  • who is rc balloon pilot :)

  • My name is Matt and I am the one in the gray shirt

  • Itd be good to take a pet up in it wouldnt it!

  • Until it jumps out

  • its a shame that it didnt work out that well with all that work put in it but its still pretty cool

  • This is a one of a kind totaly made from scratch. It takes some trial and error to get it right. This was the every first acutal flight for it. So I was very happy with the results. It just needs a little tweaking now to make it even better.

  • yes i suppose you're right. well in that case i wish you lots of luck for the future

  • Thank You

  • Excellent work. looks like it needs either a larger envelope to carry the weight of the tank or a more powerful burner??

Pity about the burnt ripstop. Just think of it as an upgrade opportunity for a nomex skirt and scoop. ;-)

Again an excellent job. Your sewing looks first rate and the cut of the material looks good and sits well. Is it a replica of the full size in the trailer off to the left?

  • I didn't calculate the weight of everything when i scaled it, Plus i wasn't planning on using such a big tank but got tired of changing out the small one's and went searching for something better and found it. A larger envelope would be nice but I'm not making a new one anytime soon. I need to turn the tank over so I use liquid instead of vapor and loose pressure and power. That would make my burner more than sufficient.

  • The balloon on the truck is from the United Kingdom and does not match mine. I drew templates of the panels on a drafting program and cut out full size patterns on a CNC (computerized router) It made everything a lot easier and identical. I'm sure it won't be the last time I melt a panel! Thanks

  • what did u use 4 fuel? propane or alchahol? i've tried cotton smothered in vaseline but it burns too fast and the flame is too big. also, nice job on the controls; please respond...

  • 1 Galloon Propane tank.Thanks

  • what fabric was used very nicely done yeah 80f temp kinda hot would fly beter in much cooler weather and in calmer winds take it from a hot air balloon pilot great job i am impressed ;]

  • 3/4 oz ripstop nylon with french seams. Yes the winds that day were very variable.

  • Yeah, nice balloon, but, where is the basket ;)

  • This flight was in 80 degree weather. At that temperature it was to heavy to get off the ground with a basket.

  • good?! fantastic! how much did it take you to make it?

  • $800 to $1000 total for everything. I had over 40 hours sewing time on the envelope.

  • You rock bro!!! Good Job!!!!
