@megaKittycatMS : Dear Azaduhi ,it's about "Grung=the crane" ,migration bird ,an exiled Armenian asks the crane if she had any news of home "Armenia" .
Fantastic musician! Now i am studying his dances for the piano. They are amazing also, and will perform them next month in Turkey.Greetings from Turkey.
This song is actually sung by Armenak Shahmuradian, a pupil of Komitas - but the man himself is accompanying him on the piano! The recording was made in France in 1912. The song is about longing and exile, asking the crane - a migratory bird - if it has any news of home.
@Takoushjanik actually, I have this CD, and it says that Armenak Shahmuradian, Komitas Vartabed's student, is the one singing. This CD includes 5 songs that are actually sung by Komitas Vartabed himself, but this one isn't sung by him.
No aghzar, it is Gomidas Vartabed's voice. I recognize his voice and it's his. It is such a beautiful melody to my ears - it is amazing! He is amazing - a truly divine man; a saintly man that he was, may God bless his beloved soul.

This song came to my attention by a modern version performed by Inga & Anush, I think it's a beautifull version...But this original version by Komitas is AMAZING!
Thanks God , we have sometimes the privilege to hear a free spirit and Music so linked with its divine part... thanks for posting this marvel...A great man , devoted to high beauty¡¡¡

It sounds very sad, but beautiful. What is the song about? Is it about the genocide?

The song is about Bird,in english that bird called Crane
Crane is a symbol of Armenia as a native land, home for all armenians who lived far away from fatherland
and he sings:
Crane, will you come here
I'll serve to your voice
Crane, do you have some news
From our Land
