How can anyone dislike this. the video kinda sucks but the point behind it is incredible and the fact that she went out there and performed very well after the loss of her mother takes amazing courage and dedication
This was no pity medal. The quality of her elements (jumps, spins, movements in the field) were top notch. I agree it was close with Miki Ando but I still would have put Joannie in third - losing her mother or not.
It was a pity award. I feel sorry for her for loosing her mother but she did not skate well enough to earn a bronze medal. She has never placed that high in any international competition before (and she has competed in plenty) and never will again because she received a PITY medal. I was bored watching her skate, nothing that extraordinary like Kim Yu-na or Mira.
@hktomato wow, you never even watched the womens' competition, and yet you have the nerve to say she didn't deserve the bronze. She easily deserved it and gets my gold as the most courageous athlete at these games. You're just a sick old man with nothing better to do than flap your stinking lips off while hiding behing your computer

Actually, she was the 2009 WORLD silver medallist, ahead of Miki and Mao. Just saying.

It should say:
Joannie Rochette
Canadian Figure Skater
continues her mom's dream.
You made three grammatical errors:
skater, continues, mom's

Does it really matter? *Eyeroll*
Nice video. :)

@julhun23 - It might matter to the person who made the video.
They might want to fix it and may need help from an English speaker.

This is so sad!
How would you feel if you lost someone so special in your family!

I feel sorry to her because she lost her mother but SHE SHOULD NOT HAVE BRONZE MEDAL !!!!!
Miki Ando, and Mirai Nagasu were much much better than Joannie Rochette!
Joannie's skating were NOT beautiful!
Judge should be fair!
If Joannie were not Canadian or if she has not lost her mother she would be 5th place.

I wish the Olympic Committee would give Joannie an extra bronze medal that could be buried with her mom. It would be a nice thing to do.

Joan, will continue to do, what she loves to do! re: not just for her mother, BUT...
for herself, for her fans, AND...for the love of the element!
the reason as to why, she will continue to keep her mother, close to her heart, AND...the meaning of family!
