Great Quality! That's what I remember! I never heard a longer version before. This'll be a treat! WAIT!!!! This is better than just a better recording!!! This is what was missing!!!! I did hear this version before!!! That's why the other seemed a bit flat and less than satisfying. This was the one I was addicted to, from Breakfast with the Beatles. Thanks for posting it. I wish there was an mp3. The stronger instruments and children singing add so much energy!!! That's what made me love it!!!
yes, thanks for posting, have never heard this extention on this tune!! Ya know I have many favorite tunesmiths, Joel, Bacharach, B. Wilson, Dylan, Webb, but Macca, has to be number one, without a doubt.
I am biased since I love all of McCartney's work, even this track. There's a simple joyous quality to it. However, I have to point out to @MrMusicPlease101 that is "rare" long version is just a splice from the original record which ends at 3:31. The extra refrain is from another alternate version that has commonly popped up on Wings bootlegs, and probably available on YouTube.
@MiddSouthFootball09 IF THIS IS THE ORIGINAL RECORD, WHY IS IT DIFFERENT ON THE VIDEO I SAW? LESS INSTRUMENTS AND HARMONY. WHAT IS THE NAME OF THE RECORD THIS ONE IS ON? OR THE VIDEO VERSION?
Okay, the artwork distinctly shows that Mary had not one little lamb but five little lambs. As John said, "All I want is the truth! Just gimme some truth!"
@NicNac13c NO LIE!!! She only has one little lamb. The other four lambs in the picture are cousins visiting. Haven't you ever had family come over for a visit? You always take extra pictures. LOL
Imagine that. LOL
You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one.
What a talent! People make fun of this song; I think it's awesome; esp. the cadential extension at the end with all those great chord changes! Love you forever, Paul! RIP Linda!
@litenslick anyone who makes fun of this must be tone deaf ..... it's one of the neatest and genius of ideas to put music to this song. , and such awesome music ..., very simple , but so pleasant to listen to , and a melody ya never will forget . the key change before the last verse makes what already was a great song into a fantastic one .
It's bad enough that Paul left the video of this song off his Mccartney years DVD - This extended version should at least be a bonus track on the Wild Life CD but of course it's not.
How about a prescription internet channel. 99 cent MP3s, what's the video extention? (ones that you can put on disk), give me that too. Let it Be, too contriversal(?), give me short videos, whatever you can.
I would rather have hard discs but I'll take it as downloads (not real player, you don't really own that).
I know I would blow my whole retirement on this, but I would be happy.
That is so funny that you mention that...I immediately said that to my wife as we were listening to it for the first time, and then, I played the end of Six O'Clock right after hearing your song. I will never understand why that version of Six O'clock was not put on the LP (vinyl) version of Ringo back in '73. It is Paul ad-libbing at his best! Very nice talking to you.
You're welcome, Joe. Yeah, it knocked me out when I uncovered it as well. Kinda reminds me of Paul's extended version of "Six O'Clock" from the "Ringo" LP. It's the same kind of tag.
J'adore cette chanson; quel talent , Paul!

I love this song myself, my 18 month old grand daughter loves it as well, BTW she is big fan of PM, especially appreciates his work with Wings!!!

This is also the cleanest version on YouTube; the others are all scratched and poorly recorded. Thanks.
