Thanks for posting this video! That was my station and I liked it. Actually, Asakusa of the Ginza metro line was my station but since I didn't want to spend money for the tickets (I had the JR pass) I walked everyday to Ueno station. Ueno is very nice.
So it's pretty cheap to get from the airport to Tokyo? I thought it was more expensive. I didn't know the prices b/c of the JR pass.
haha - I totally did that at Ueno station on Friday - looking for a shop and then realizing I had to leave to go to the subway instead of the regular train, it didn't let me out when I swiped the card a 2nd time to leave. But the station attendant just shook his head, said "Silly gaijin, Suica is for Nihonjin" and let me go. :D
(I"m kidding of course, the station staff people were always nice and helpful when I needed them)
I really think it's cool Jason that even though you're in Tokyo, you are still willing to make a lot of videos for your Youtube viewers like myself. Thank you very much. I really appreciate it. Great view from there.
It is hard to pick just one prettiest place....BUT I was fortunate enough to see the Nasrid Palace in the Al Hambra AT NIGHT. They are SPECTACULAR at night and since the rest of the Al Hambra is closed, there are no large crowds to deal with....
The sucia card is like the oyster cards you use in London. Granted you have to pay for zones v. per ride but the swiping it over to get throught the gates is the same.
I miss tokyo :P Last time I was out there on business I went with my co-workers somewhere in ginza and we did tabihodai and nomihodai on some shabu shabu... all I know is about 5 hours later we were in a karaoke bar singing thriller together.
On the subway and in the stations there is - they have signs up warning you that you are being watched. My guess is it stems from the Sarin attacks back in the 90s, but it could be simple security.
Indian food in Tokyo, awesome! In the future, after I visit Japan, India is my second destination.
My theory: In Japan the food is beautiful looking, but not so much to my taste. Whereas, in India, the food doesn't look nearly so pretty, yet tastes amazing! LOL And vice versa for the desserts: In Japan, beautiful and tasty desserts. In India, they are kinda plain looking, still pretty, but not as tasty. More milk based desserts. JMTC.
Always did wonder about those cards, seen that you don't even have to take it off your wallet to charge it, awesome. Looking forward to more vids from Tokyo, you are awesome with these vlogs

Eek! Ueno! Beware of the Chinese ladies offering massages!
Wish I had more sleep during the week so I could be more sociable.
Besides that, welcome to Tokyo!
It is very strange hearing all that city background noise in one of your videos.

Way too crowded for this inaka boy

Lol, we have those 'suika' cards in London. They're called 'oyster' cards.
Looking forward to your next vlogs.

myargonauts 3 years ago
Convenient..YES!!! I get a months travelcard on it all the time for all zones in London.
Due to the credit crunch travel has gone up though :-( This student is not best pleased.
Take care!!!
