Who's right is it to ban students from joining military university units if they want? Why also should it be perfectly reasonable for the left-wing anti-war lobby (who have no idea of what goes on in these units) to censor others from activities that THEY deem to be inappropriate. Are students not mature enough to decide whether they want to interact with the military or not? I doubt that UCL have banned any anti-israeli groups from participation. This is disgustingly hypocritical behaviour.

how do you imagine its 'in contravention of the education act", the education act 1994 doesn't say a thing about how students union meetings are supposed to be run (apart from simply being 'fair and democratic' it has no specific requirements), it doesn't say anything about quorum, it doesn't say anything about chairs. Anyone claiming the education act was contravened doesn't know what they're talking about.

This also documents her stand for the democratic process. I cannot speak for the process of her suspension since but it can be no worse than the way she was reported to have handles the meeting that got her into trouble in the first place.

I'm sure that if young students didn't want to join the military they wouldn't,nobody forces students to join; it is their FREE choice if they wish to contribute to their country.

It is funny how YOU love free speech as long as it is yours. I'm sure that if students want to join the military they will exercise their FREE choice & do that. UCL student union members exercised their FREEDOM and voted not to host military recruiters. That's all. BTW - troops in Iraq and Afghanistan are not fighting for free speech in Western Europe & those countries now have fewer freedoms thanks to us. You didn't know that? Do some research before you support wars you know so little about.

That is what is under debate isn't it my friend- whether it was democratic. Most observers who were there say it wasn't very democratic. And even if you want say it was (the investigation will see) it certainly wasn't representative. Student democracy is just about the least legitimate but UCLU takes the biscuit. THis will come back to amore representative vote soon enough- lets then see where the majority view lies.
