  • Christ! I've heard speak-your-weight machines with more charisma. What a mediocrity!!

If anyone is still interested, the ban was overturned democratically at last weeks AGM. In the event, it didnt even manage to last for a year.

  • She is excellent. Cool and composed. Direct and rational. Beautiful, too. Why is this iddy biddy girl making all the big bad wolves howl?

  • I've got another description: Boring. Given the choice between having to listen to a one hour speech by her (which she can't be bothered to learn) in that monotone, or eating my own left bollock, I know which I'd chose.

  • tRAGICCKLOWN

  • Appointing ineligible people as chair in contravention of the education act, refusing to acknowledge the legally required calls for quorum, and failing to accept the claims of voting irregularities by the vote counters themselves can only be considered "a democratic process of protest" if your surname is Mugabe. And at least he makes the effort of delivering his speeches well.

  • how do you imagine its 'in contravention of the education act", the education act 1994 doesn't say a thing about how students union meetings are supposed to be run (apart from simply being 'fair and democratic' it has no specific requirements), it doesn't say anything about quorum, it doesn't say anything about chairs. Anyone claiming the education act was contravened doesn't know what they're talking about.

  • 1. Questions of continued affiliation have to be conducted by Secret Ballot, which the motion was not (22-1-ii).

    2. The violation of the Standing Orders are in clear breach of the requirements of the Act for SUs to conduct themselves in "a fair and democratic manner", particularly in the observation of its written constitution and by extension its derivative instruments, of which the Standing Orders is one. (22-1 and 2-a)

  • Because banning recruiters from recruiting officers will stop the war! GENIUS!

That's too high up the thinking ladder for me to understand. Jesus...I never did think that it was soldiers and officers who fight in wars.

How wrong I was...How wrong I was indeed.

  • Wouldn't want intellectual debate to get in the way of terrorizing civilians, torturing prisoners, raping and dismembering women and children -- in other words, the war. Your arrsehOle moniker is well chosen.

  • Nothing to do with bullying, she honestly was so dull, slurred and monotone that I couldn't take in a word she said.

  • Well we are but thick Sqauddies who were herded into the recruiting office against our will. They got me in with the offer of an icecream and a shiney red baloon.

  • You got an ice cream?

I was fecking robbed by the RAF! Bastards.

  • Hate to burst your bubble, my friend, but I already have my PhD in International Relations and Political Science. Where's yours?

  • Inarticulate? Hawks? We are neither, she has neither an ounce of charisma or persuasion. This is documented in cheesegrater magazine by students of her own university. This also documents her stand for the democratic process. I cannot speak for the process of her suspension since but it can be no worse than the way she was reported to have handles the meeting that got her into trouble in the first place.

  • A dull humourless out of touch person, just what I expected really. I think she and her mates have been given far more publicity than they deserve by pulling this cheap and disrespectful stunt.

  • It's funny how people like Sam Godwin love free speech..aslong as it's their free speech!

I'm sure that if young students didn't want to join the military they wouldn't,nobody forces students to join; it is their FREE choice if they wish to contribute to their country.

The irony of Sam Godwin and followers objecting to military recruitment is astounding...considering the Armed Forces would fight(and have done)to protect the very freedoms she holds so dear!

  • I think most people posting will know more about war than they wish to, and far more than you ever will.

  • That is what is under debate isn't it my friend- whether it was democratic. Most observers who were there say it wasn't very democratic. And even if you want say it was (the investigation will see) it certainly wasn't representative. Student democracy is just about the least legitimate but UCLU takes the biscuit. THis will come back to amore representative vote soon enough- lets then see where the majority view lies.

For the record, if you stop biting they'll stop messing with you

  • You know you've lost the high ground when you start writing in capitals- you're a septic right, not Micheal Moore are you?

  • I was and am, in opposition to the war, but your comment was possibly the most retarded thing I've heard this year. Tell me about the enlightened approach to governance adopted by the Taliban and one S Hussein (deceased). I'd love to hear your thoughts.

    Me- 1x PhD

You- One priapic member located squarely on your forehead.

  • Crabtastic12: You and the Taliban have a lot in common:misogynistic,out-of-control,vicious, supercilious, ignorant, caustic, cruel. Friends of yours?

  • Grow up, you child.

  • Hands up who has the answer to this one...

When was the last British Soldier actively involved in WAR deployed and where to?

Now far from me to try and look at a subject precisely..Ive not been to University, Im but a mere layman of a Soldier.. BUT... in order for there to be a British Soldier involved in WAR, there has to be by the very definition of it, a Declaration of War, read out, To the nation, By the Prime Minister of the Country.

So.. When was it, Where was it, Who read it out??

  • How many female students in taliban controlled afganistian?

  • I love you Sam! Run away with me so we can be together forever!

  • Prior preparation and Planning Prevents Piss poor performance. May help you the next time you are tempted to waffle in front of a crowd.

Are you seeing a pattern developing her sam.

You are dull love, im here all week if you want any pointers

I find it ironic that any negative comments on this thread are being deleated. Have the conviction to stand by your comments.

  • You appear to be a patronising, sexist turd. Comnments were deleted for being offensive. None of them dealt with the issues Sam raised, instead you make pathetic comments about speaking style. You have nothing to say. Clear off.

  • At least he didn't resort to gutter language eh Ady? If you are going to post VIDEO then any comment on its delivery is fair game. If you want commentary on the content only issue it in print only.

    BTW- being patronising- thats deliberate.

Whether he has something to say is not for you to decide.

  • "Piss poor performance"? Simply attacking her delivery in such "deliberately" patronising way is pathetic and open to insult. I don't post videos as an invitation for vile abuse as some of the [deleted and blocked] posters here seem to think.

  • At least he didn't resort to gutter language eh Ady? If you are going to post video then any comment on its delivery is fair game. If you want commentary on the content only issue it in print only.

He's right though she is no orator, and she has a face for radio.

    BTW- being patronising- thats deliberate.

  • Are you some sort of clone?

  • comnments?

Glad that education did not go to waste.

My four year old puts up more of a debate than you mate.

  • I'm not your mate, this isn't a debate, evident by the fact that you're focussing on the slip of a key rather than the issue. Go and "debate" with your four year old.

  • Ady, the guy has a point. Her words are vapid, her delivery is dull and the speech, like many you are apt to find in student politics, is reminiscent of John Cleese's "People's Front of Judea" lines from The Life of Brian. If she and UCLU was interested in democracy, why does she (they) seek to deny the right to freedom of speech and freedom of assembly to groups with which they disagree?

  • Ady, "love" is not sexist remark. How many times have you heard women call each other thus? Think about it for a second.

If the poster was being sexist, he'd be saying things like "get back in the kitchen", "Bitch, bake me a pie" or "Show us where you poo from"... ahem, for example.

  • Aww, Ady. You're deleting my posts? Did you learn all you needed to know about democracy from Stalin? Well, sunshine, you're not going to disappear me that easily.

Guess you're going to have find another way to get into Sam's knickers because all this vid is doing is drawing more flak towards her.

  • "love" in this context is patrionising. It's pathetic and spinless too, instead of taking issue with what she says you take issue with the delivery. Post on this video are using all sorts of methods to attack the speaker without dicussing the issues, so don't talk about "democracy" or "free speech" because you're not engaging in either.

  • Student politics. Nobody takes it seriously. In ten years when you are earning thousands in the city can you honestly say you will hold the same views. Look at Labour. All former members of CND, they are the ones ordering the troops to war.

  • Go Go Sam...

    I think your great

If you ever plan to visit Dubai, please let me know- I'll give you 7 star treatment.

It would be an honour to get to know you.

  • What a rosy view of your world you have, Sam. Wake up.

  • We must show up in mass on some designated day and let our public servants know who is the Boss.
