  • Sick run. Thanks for posting

  • Thanks for playing the lick slow at the end so that I wouldn't have to fight with Audacity for 45 minutes trying to slow it down to learn it by ear.

  • Isnt that suppose to be E minor chord to a minor chord?A minor relative is c major which has d,e,a as minor tones?and c,f,g major with b diminished?

  • when useing the harmonic minor scale 3 chords are diffrent. the 3rd is augmented the 5th is major and the 7th is diminished

  • Thanks for this. Really cool.

  • The harmonic minor is a beautiful, beautiful mode. Metal guitar and Classical music have more in common than people think. ;)

  • this is a really cool lick bud. ive been studying this scale since last night and came up with a few licks but they are very simple compared to this one. It was cool to to make us learn it by ear. it took me a bit but it always feels much better than using tab. good lesson. thank you. keep it up i'd love to hear more from you. :D

  • Good for you man!!!I'm so glad it worked for you.

I've always thought that if you do have your ear practiced you can play anything.I suggest you download a software where you can isolate the guitar and break down the tempo without messing with the pitch.

I used it to get some hardcore licks.

    It's called TRANSCRIBE.

    Try it out.

  • Cool man I look it up. I feel the same way. It's very challenging but the rewards are endless. Check out my video i just put up. It's a lick in A harmonic minor also that was inspired by this video. Let me know what you think. Thanks again Bud!

  • i might do that thanks!

  • for how have you been playing guitar

  • I begun palying the guitar at the age of 9...I'm almost 27 now so...about 18 years.

But I got to serious practice for about 3 or 4 years.

  • cool did you have a teacher when you started playing guitar?

  • yeah but he basically taught me the basics...chords and songs...later on i studied scales on my own ;)

  • cool sweet ill try to do the same thing

  • i can i get tab for that, please

  • I'm afraid not...

I made these videos for ear-practice too.

So screw the tabs and get to work.

    Peace...

  • wow,AMAZING guitarrist,5 star!!!

    visit my channel!!!!

  • hey, isn't the 1st lick from yngwie malmesteen triology suit

  • If memory serves me correctly it's almost identical, but extended.

  • nice

  • i never understood what the harmonic minor was for..its too confusing

  • totally the same as a normal minor scale.. just 1 difference: the last tone "G" (when playing the A minor harmonic scale) is raised by ½ so it is G#...

  • cool, but how would u use it in a song over a few chords?

Is the G# just played as a leading note or something? that would make more sense to me if it was

  • im no expert so I probably will have a bunch of mistakes in here but...basically u can use the harmonic minor in a minor chord progression with a major 7th, so in A minors case the chord progression could be Aminor-Emajor...u get a nice spanish sound with that aswel :)

  • how many hours a day do you practice ?

  • but nice lesson nevertheless =D

  • would be cool to post tabs, quite irritating learning it by ear

  • master your ear...if you do you'll be 10 times better guitarist than you think you will...plus you need to have a good ear to jam with other musicians ;)

  • thats really col ;) hahah how long have u been playing?

  • great job.

  • Your lick isn't just for an E major chord. Try E7b9b13, E7+5 or at least say E7. The lick wouldn't work over an E major 7 chord.

  • thanks for the heads up ludwig.

  • He didn't say Maj 7...he said Major. In the exmaple he plays a regular e major...no major seventh anywhere.

  • Of course he said major. but to be more precise, he should have said E7. The major triad E-G#-B, with that scale played over it implies a dominant 7th chord. I was just referring to functional harmony.

  • who gives a shit?

  • functional modal would be a major chord for classical harmonic minor....or7th depend if your just using 5ths dont confuse them

  • this is also E phrygian dominant

    nice work

  • another good one!

  • damn, you sounded just like yngwie! and you teach much better than he does too! again, 5 stars

  • Thank you very much my friend.I wish you where living in Greece( i would show you some stuff).

Keep in mind though that speed is a result of mathematical progress via practising.True music comes out from the heart and melody.

  • Dude, that's A HARMONIC Minor. It's a natural minor scale (1 2 b3 4 5 b6 b7) except the 7th is raised (1 2 b3 4 5 b6 7).

    On the other hand, MELODIC Minor is a totally different thing. It's got a minor 3rd and a major 6 and the formula is (1 2 b3 4 5 6 7).

  • You are absolutely right my friend.I'm always comfusing these too.I will change the name right away. Thanks for the tip.

  • Hehe, cool. I'm sorry if I came on a bit harsh there. Just wanted to point the fact out that it's a harmonic minor lick :D

    Sweet playing btw.

  • No,not harsh at all my friend. If i want to upload an instructional video,It must be correct. Thanks again for the tip.I always comfusing these too...

  • Say no more(Hit2)
