Buffalos bulls are known to hunt down prides of lions like this just to kill them and their cubs. And are extremely powerfull individuals. I have seen one adult bull in his prime surviving a pride of 15 lions. It was marshy land thou.

It's hard to say. How do you know the lions haven't been attacking the buffalo previously? Maybe they ate a few buffalo. This may be their way of saying, 'Stay away from us!'
That buffalo has probably lived through many lion attacks and has learned that the killing of any lion could be removing the predator that might come to kill it later on.
I think that the Cheetah and the Leopard are the coolest big cats. The leaopards pulling prey 2x their size into a tree is amazing. Powerful legs. And the cheetah in a sprint is one of nature's most glorious sights!
You are watching 5 minutes of the buffalo's lives. What you havent seen is their calves being captured by lions and eaten for dinner. Re my usage of a well-worn colloquialism, the term "jungle" is meant metaphorically, not literally.
And if you want to be obtuse, I said that lions are kings of the jungle. I did not say that they live in said jungle. You should know that many a king has ruled many a land from afar.

as i recall you were replying to a comment which suggested that buffalos were much stronger than lions. Your comment might have led someone to believe that you thought otherwise. i pointed out that lions don't live in the jungle because i wanted to prove that the old saying was incorrect, not only about the fact that lions don't live in the jungle, but also because they aren't as strong as some people might think.

To say that I have an above average vocabulary is to say that Michael Jordan was an above average baskeball player or Alexander Pichushkin killed an above average number of people or Rachel Maddow is kind of a dyke or Scorsese is an above average filmmaker. Further, that my intellectual wherewithal and preternatural vocabulary are irreproachable is unassailable, in the way that Pynchon is unassailable.

That buffalo has probably lived through many lion attacks and has learned that the killing of any lion could be removing the predator that might come to kill it later on.

I think that the Cheetah and the Leopard are the coolest big cats. The leaopards pulling prey 2x their size into a tree is amazing. Powerful legs. And the cheetah in a sprint is one of nature's most glorious sights!

You are watching 5 minutes of the buffalo's lives. What you havent seen is their calves being captured by lions and eaten for dinner. The buffalo remember that and are doing this for payback because they know those cubs are going to grow up into big cats that will kill the buffalo and/or their calves.
So dont act so shocked about this. Lions kill buffalo all the time, sometimes they eat them alive. I have no sympathy for the lions.

buffalo kills are sacrificial kills for lions.
many lions die or are injured when hunting large buffalos. however the rewards are worth the rick since its 2000 pounds of meat and will feed the pride for a long time.
