i believe po is a myth. the planet is awash in the stuff. there is peak speculation on the other hand. gas prices and oil supply are not related, even though we are told that .what would happen if everyone stopped driving for just one day? gas price would drop dramatically.
Natural gas we have tons in the states and that and its a very easy conversion from gasoline basically just a different fuel delivery device and storage thats a great short term fix no one seems to talk about. The problem with electric cars is it would cause lots of brownouts our current electrical system can't handle the massive load increase anyways. Not to mention after your done with your batteries its basically just toxic waste kind of like compact fluorescent bulbs no one recycles properly
PEOPLE CAN'T FORGET THAT OUR CONSUMPTION OF ENERGY IS DIRECTLY RELATED TO THE GROWTH IN POPULATIONS , UNLESS WE DEAL WITH THE POPULATION ISSUE THERE IS NO HOPE FOR US.
"Educated" people consume more so I don't see your point. If everyone received a PHd in science or medicine, the value of a phd would drop and the wages of those with phds would drop to substience levels, if not lower.
Hemps heals all earths problems and the elitist know it. It's your medicine and clothing and fuel and 100s of more uses. Our gov't knows this and keep it illegal until the elitist can get control of its use so only they can profit.
Peak oil: my father told me about it in the 70's. He went back to school in the 60's and they discussed it then. These people haven't heard because they don't want to hear.
You don't have to run out of oil. All you gotta do is keep the economy from growing at an exponential rate. Lol. We wouldn't be able to survive 0% GDP growth for a sustained period, let alone a serious contraction. At least not without the financial system to come tumbling down again.
I liked seeing the bank machines in the background of some of the shots. Tons of people pulling out dollar bills like crazy. Is that paper really worth anything? Will it still be there to take out when bank runs hit like they are in asia and other places already?
Other backgrounds noted: high end sushi bar, people checking email on their smart phones, sunny and clean neighborhoods.
It's all about supply and demand. We need to explore more possible oil reserves in the US like the Bakken oil formation and stop relying on these middle eastern countries who are holding us hostage because of our thirst for oil. The last man to explore free energy was Tesla, and he was robbed of his innovations because of greedy corporations, we'll never have alternative energy for that reason alone.
I have a similar kind of non-scientific poll going on here in Sweden as well..Most have never heard of peak oil. One lady who is management in the Road Works dept...working on big project to improve Sweden's road...had never heard of it either.
From younger ages in high school and college to adults...never heard of it...
one thing that you missed is how will large scale farms produce crops with oil that high? They can't do it financially. Localized food would not meet the demand required to feed everyone. Not to mention the millions of tons we send to other starving countries. I am talking on a macro scale. Sure towns and areas can survive but you would be living like the Amish.
There is more oil than we can stand in the upper states of Wisconsin and North Dakota. The Problem is that it is poisoning and wreaking us.... Our Great Grandfathers could have whooped any one of us.... Let it go and get your hands dirty
I found it interesting that only one person thought of higher food prices as a result of higher gas prices. Food travels an average of 1500 miles to get to the store shelves. That would equal a lot of hungry people.
@TheDeathbycancer not necessarily, dramatic changes in the logistics of food would occur. it would be more centralized, localized and prices through the roof. Unless the region that produces lemons don't mind eating lemons :) The key here is diversification of crops. I am getting my backyard ready to grow corn and zuchiini and tomatoes. I just hope the summer heat doesn't kill em all.
What I find surprising is that nobody addressed the affect of fuel prices on commodities. I think most Americans could barely afford to drive to work with $10 a gallon gas. What they couldn't afford would be the prices of food and other necessities that would skyrocket when fuel prices went up. People forget that when they pay more at the pump, they also have to pay more at the checkout.
@Thatcrazyprepper Very true, often overlooked. Practically everything we consume is of petroleum derivative manufacture. Then it has to be delivered, and the stock boy has to put it on the shelf. Everyone will need gas/diesel to do these things.
oil will be $200 by the end of the year. There are 503 billion barrels of oil in Montana. It can keep America going for 30 years. There is a total of 2 trillion barrels under the rocky mountains, enough to keep America going for more than 100 years! Read the USGS reports showing this. It's all about money and power. When we can no longer get oil from Saudi Arabia, they will then open up America's oil fields and they will make trillions of dollars profit. By then people will be desperate.
If there was $10/gal. of gas, what do you think the effects would be? And the guy @3:52 says, " I think people would be screaming" Yeah right guy...there would be riots and chaos in a matter of weeks!!! People are clueless! We are going to see $5 to $6 a gallon in the not too distant future and we'll see if people are just "screaming"
@Avisualrecord Great video as usual. I love the fact that you seem to stay neutral and allow the person being interviewed to answer the question. At least some people are awake up north. There are quite a few people awake down south here in the I.E. :)
Our dependency on foreign oil is our biggest national security concern. We gotta drill for more oil while also eliminating all subsidies and let the market come up with solutions. Also remove bunch regulations.
"We" need to reduce arrogant consumption, by choice. Sadly, the reactionary mentality of US consumer will render, to little to late solutions with more regulations.
@safewaysecurity have you read any of the USGS reports? there is one from April 2008 that shows there's 503 billion barrels of oil in Montana and N.Dakota. Enough to keep America alive for 30 years. Stanberry report - April 20th 2006, 2 trillion barrels under the rocky mountains. That's more oil than ALL other proven sources on the planet! Truth is, the United States is the most oil rich country on the planet! It is, however, controlled by those who care only for money and power.
@YouDiddntSeeAnything You need to understand the difference between "oil in place" and "recoverable oil". Just because the oil is there doesn't mean that you can recover it. Most oil or gas plays only ever achieve 10% recovery. All of the low hanging fruit is gone.
Hemp revolution. combined with solar, wind and hyrdo electric. Hell I drove by a sunoco ealrier today 3.49, just went by again 3.59. same store 12 hrs later
I personally, drive very little. I do need to find work and transport tools and materials to a job. If people would use available technologies and make a conscious effort to create economic opportunity for local residents, then I believe we/I would have a more fruitful and less pressured existence. Demand needs to change. Freedom is psychologically linked to the automobile and the self image that comes with that that change will come as people transcend consciousness.
Our mental and emotional needs have lead us down a slippery slope. We have been conditioned and indoctrinated--- this is very evident when you interview the public in a city that is very much in the mindset of a college town.
yes , I think that " peak oil " runs downward from the apex due to gravity and is then pumped into barrels , sort of like oozing volcanos of oil , lol
Nothing will replace cheap black gold. Nothing. A better question is how much oil do we consume globally on an annual basis, versus what is the annual production amount globally. Just look at the numbers statistically .
Many of these people had difficulty thinking & talking at the same time , Could they be suffering from some type of cognitive disorder ? or were you wearing your revolver again , lol
Peak oil hit in 1979 on a per capita basis (which is the only way to measure it who cares about total amount if the population is increasing faster than production) so its not a sudden event. Its going to be a slow degradation to the stone age. LOL
