The US has been extremely generous to its illegal immigrant population. But this has made a mockery of the country's laws. I am not a US citizen or resident, but if it were up to me, I would make it a felony to be in the US without a valid status for more than 6 months during a person's lifetime. I would ALSO heavily punish the employers who hire illegals, with fines up to one month's total revenues, for every person-year they hire someone they cannot prove is legal.

The US currently allows 125,000 immigrants to enter the country legally every month, with 80% or 100,000 of those coming from Mexico. That's 1.2 million Mexican's per year. We have been the most generous nation in the world to the Mexican people, yet they claim this is still not enough. More, more ,more they cry!

And if we give 20+ million illegals amnesty tomorrow, that won't be enough either. Still they will come by the millions, always demanding more, more,more!

I find it hard to understand how these people who illegally break US law by coming here and then turn around and demand that the US make them legal. If I were to enter Mexico illegally and then demand to become legal what would happen to me under Mexican law? I would be arrested and deported. I would have no rights under Mexican law.

Yeah DREGARB, you're probably correct on the numbers. Most illegal aliens do come from Mexico however, so they are used as kind of a proxy for other Central Americans, but the same goes for them as I said in my previous post

If you want to come to this country, then do it the right way. Get a visa and enter legally. Mexico certainly would not allow anyone from anywhere to enter their country. Why don't you have mass demonstrations in Mexico demanding change? Mexico has great oil and mineral wealth, why isn't that being shared with the people? I understand Mexicans wanting to come to the USA. Mexico is an inferior society compared to the US.

I understand what you mean, Renny. But did you know that it could take up to 28 years for someone to gain citizenship? And this is only if you have a relative living legally in the US, exceptional skills, or are a big investor. Trust me, if it was a way, those people would not be asking for this. Many are here because of hunger and lack of jobs, and they allow people like you and me to pay $ 5 for a burger, afford a cleaning person, a house, etc.
