I see the pictures and to think I have relatives still living there, it's a ghost town. The pictures make me really sad seeing it like that. The only time family from the north go to Bog. is to retire and die. I thought about retiring there, but after seeing the pictures, I'll find some place more alive.
It's so amusing to me how places which are often crime ridden, and poverty striken, to boot completely devoid of any culture (southwest Houston, Bogalusa, etc.) want to blame all of their problems on "Katrina rejects". I drove through Bog when I evacuated; the smell in the air would choke a pig and the people walking around looked just as sketchy as any New Orleans ghetto. Stop blaming New Orleans people for your shortcomings
alot of jobs will be lost once the chemical plant leaves....the city,,,it really looks bad . raised there as well. glad to be gone but hate to go back and visit family
wow bogalusa looks like a ghost town now i lived there for a while when i was a kid it was great we would go to skate palace or the show every weekend i did'nt even see those places in this vid probably not there anymore how sad!
at 4:17 Lewis V Murray, Jr. Stadium. That is my Pappy Lewis V. Murray Jr. He was a great coach and let God rest his soul. And today they have a bust of him.
i grew up in bogalusa lived there all my life but it breaks my old heart seeing it like this gang, drugs, theft i wish the bogalusa we all love would come back used to bogalusa was a safe town now u can go outside and get shot before u close the door
I was born and raised in Bogalusa. I was telling my children how the Bogalusa they see when we visit, is not the same as the one my wife and I lived in back when. It used to be one of the most beautiful and charming cities in South Louisiana. Unfortunately now it looks run down and neglected. I would love to see this town rise from the ruins of the storm and deport the Katrina rejects that came from New Orleans then restore this fine city to it's full potential. Long live the Mqgic City!
It has nothing to do with Katrina rejects, the city was going no where fast way before Katrina. Surrounding cities like Slidell and Covington are booming and no new business are coming to area. Blame on the city officials.
I love how you make it look like no one lives here(not sarcasm)...this twon is so dull and no one outside realizes that there is nothing here for people...
I was born and raised in Bogalusa for my first 11 years of life. I then moved to Baton Rouge, and now live in Hollywood, California. Seeing this video was wonderful. It returned me to my roots and I feel more grounded after seeing it. Thanks.
