Kinky Friedman does a hysterical parody of it, "Asshole from El Paso," which is more than worthy of a listen. As for the original, I was 15 before I realized there really was a town called Muskogee, Oklahoma. To this day I still sing "The Fightin' Side of Me," which I like even better than "Muskogee."
Just sitting in my home, listening to three fine artists. I have to hurry wiping away the tears.
