I just got this ARF what a nice plane for the price. I am how ever having an issue. First flight didn't get more then 3 feet of ground, wouldn't clime any more. It was like it was under powered. I'm charging the battery again ,maybe the battery was not fully charged. I have seen other post with similar issue but not seen any solutions posted. I’m charging the battery now and will try again later
It's was do to lack of charge.. after fully charging with Turnagy ACUUCELL_6 I was able to get airborn. The plane fly nice no so happy with the transmitter but what do you exp for $90.00.
....and then, comes the issue of bad Chinese quality. its a geared motor and the gear shaft is made out of REALLY bad and soft quality metal, VERY malleable that bends with the slightest crashes. got it hammered and straightened out first. 2nd flight, it got way bent out of proportion. da propellers kept breaking even as it dipped nose in da grass. the wooden motor mount holder bent & crushed the foam inside. all those were bad chinese stuff. if you upgrade it [extra $100 and up] it can be good.
i just got this plane from Bananahobby, and got only 2 flights out of it !! wont say its a bad plane .its nice,he wing is nice and wide with a good dihedral and nice lift. its pretty fast and all,but first issue is the radio - it is NOT a 2.4GHZ and i have been LOTS of glitches and interference on it. Infact, i have left the plane on the ground with the transmitter on and plane battery plugged in to wait and see and i could see like every 2 minutes the control surfaces move by themselves.
Bought thisrecently. Plenty of power out of the box, 1:1 thrust to weight ratio with a full charge. Battery runs for 6 minutes at full throttle during bench testing. I've been charging it at 1 amp.
It is a little naive to expect everything to be perfect on a $89.00 RTF. Mine works fine, but I was also prepared to do some troubleshooing.
Even if you have to swap a motor or servo due to bad Chinese factory Quality Control, it is a great value for someone with a little technical expertise.
Hi Pete. Fantastic video as usual. This is a great plane for the money and can't understand why there are comments reffering to 'lack of power' on take off!..(?) I fly one of these regularly. This plane is really well built for the money, very tough and flys great, as shown in your vid. Well recommended 4ch warbird!
Went out today with a full battery. Plane still will not leave the ground after 5 attempts. Plane does not generate enough speed to lift tail before takeoff. I even tried to hand launch...crashed to the ground...weak power. I broke the cowl and the second of three blades. Bought from Banana Hobby for $89. I will count this as a loss. In the past month, I have bought 5 planes from various suppliers and all fly except this one.
I just bought this same model (yellow) and it will not leave the ground. I have tried on several ocassions to fly this bird with the same results. The plane will roll and not lift. I hit the curb on one of the attempts and the motor gear disconnected. I pushed the gear back to its previous location and the plane still will not fly. Very disappointed as the plane is less that three days old.
I bought this plane as my first plane to learn to fly...its is great for learning! I have crashed it over 50 times and everytime it has been completely repairable and nothing important to flight has been broken. The EPO foam is super strong and the motor provides ample power. I am going to buy another one now that I know how to fly!!! It is definitely worth it! The only thing that breaks on every crash almost is the propellers so stock up! I recommend the 8x6...works perfect for the power!
The motor in my new Texan is bad. It does not have enough power to leave the ground (see comments above). How can I get a replacement motor? I am an experienced flyer and have done everything right. The body on this thing is awesome and I would hate to scrap this plane because the motor is faulty. I bought this plane recently from BH but have had issues from the start. I also need to buy a new cowl, as the one I have broke on one of my none-take offs. Please inform.
@fullpullprez I bought this plane too, my first airplane for learning. I crashed it on solid rock the first time so after almost 40 crash it continue flying, so it less beautifull than first time:) A little bit difficult to stabilize on start but after this it fly very well. Great airplane, I tryed 8x4 (because I destroyed my other 16 propeller, I bought them by dozen lol) but it's not great, 8x6 is better.
I recommend it, very nice to see acrobatic figure :D I'm not as this step :)
Thanks. Were you there when I put it together? In fact, you were not and call me all the names that makes you happy. I INDEED assembled this aircraft like all the OTHER aircrafts I TEST STOCK OUT OF THE BOX. I do not have the time or need to mod ANYTHING. Funny with your 8 years of flying experience... I have guys that started flying this as a first RC aircraft that are flying just fine.
@bananahobby hey i just picked one of theses planes and had some one with experience take it up and trimmed it out, i flew it and its flys really nice, i just want to add some more power does anyone know of a good brushless motor that can mount up. im looking at the alpha 370 brushless? or e-flite 370 brushless? let me know what motor that is out there that has some more power. stock motor has good power but i want some more
hi, i just bought this plane last night and i was wondering if i made a bad choice with it cause, im a beginner not a total never flown before but i have a little experience. so could yout tell me.
This is a great choice if you do have some basic knowledge. It is much more sturdy than many of the airplanes on the market. Check out some flight simulators. They are great for learning if you feel you are not confident for now.
I want to see some of these crash to test durability. I'm considering buying one but I only have 15 years of flightsim experience with computers and the RC sims with a joystick. I'm good on the computer, never crash, just wondering how it will translate.
The radio included is not high end but does get the job done just fine. The whole RTF package is under $100. I flew it with the stock radio and had no issues at all. Thanks!
When I finally got this together and out to fly, anytime it would start to take off, it would become too front heavy, and crash. I went through all 3 propellers, and never got it off of the ground. Also, on the last attempt, i tried a hand toss, and it just went nose-first, and completely destroyed the model. Was it something that I did, or something that was wrong with the plane?
Make sure when you pull back on the right stick the elevator moves pointing UP. If not you can flip the servo reverse switch on the ELEV channel or Channel 2 located on the transmitter.
For this price it's a perfect beginner. Start at a place with long grass, handlaunch and take care at first but before you know it you"ll be doing rolls and loops!
Hey! Just had my maiden with the AT-6. She's my second TW-model and she handles great. Very stable, nice rolls and good speed. Still got the ME-109 waiting for her maiden! Videos coming up soon. Grtz from little Belgium
I fly rc helis I tried flying a superstar ep and that was a disaster. Will this make a good trainer for me? I would like something with good slow speed characteristics and that can be upgradable at some point.
Ya it sure was windy when I made this video. I can't choose the days I can film on so it's go unless its raining outside! She handles the wind really well!
My throttle powers all the way down try setting your throttle trim half way or up all the way before you plug the battery in then once its armed pull the trim all the way down see if you can power down then.
Nope - tried that, but thanks for the idea. The plane starts up at mid-throttle or higher and won't go any lower. Only way to cut the engine is to power off the remote control.
Oops - this is an upgrade (AT6) 4-channel radio for me...didn't realize the rudder and throttle were controlled from the same lever. All is well! Now I understand what throttle trim is for too - thanks!

Hi Pete, as much as i love the idea of buying one of your sweet fighter jets..i feel my skills will make the enjoyment short lived... i think i should order a texan..Question can it handle the AE Model Li-Po 11.1V 1200mAh 10C Lithium-Polymer Rechargeable Battery that you sell at your site/ and will it plug in without any mods or do i have to solder a tamaya conecter.. actually id like to change it 2 deans... Anyway i will need spare battery which one is best.. thanks greg
Greg, there is no reason to switch the Texan to a Lipo. There reason why I say that is because there is plenty of power with the included NiMh battery. There will also be the weight and CG issue withthe AE lipo comming in lighter than the MiMh. You can order additional batteries. The Texan is a nice aircraft. Has very forgiving characteristics.
Okay sounds like a plan... does wing come off easy so i can fit everything in a box and boni it on back of my motorcycle? also which batteries do you recommend? i would like same batteries as stock so cg and fit is same if possible...I was not able to find same batties at your site they are 9.6 650's if i remember correctly
It says on your site that this plane can be hand launched and can belly land, but if you tried that, wouldn't it cause the propeller to break,or did you just mistakenly jot it down on the site, because it's really interesting and I wanna be sure about every detail before buying it.
You can belly land it safely. How you go about it is like this. When you make your approach and you turn off the motor, you can see the position of the propeller. If the propeller is to the down position, hit the throttle real quick and when you get the prop horizontal to the wing, then land. If not on the first approach, then on the second. =)
This does not include a simulator. As long as you pay attention to the position of the propeller belly landings are fine. If you have some flying experience, this Texan would be a nice aircraft.

That does not sound right at all. I wonder if the elevator channel was reversed? We have sold hundreds and everyone is loving them!
bananahobby 2 years ago
Would that be the fault of me or the plane? Also, should I be able to take off from the grass at a baseball field and/or the diamond?
I noticed that when I would go down on the remote, the rear flaps would go up....
JeepRuby101 2 years ago
Yes the elevator controls sound reversed. If you push the stick forward, the rear surface will point DOWN not UP. You have stated it was pointing UP.
bananahobby 2 years ago
But is it something that I did, and if so, what can I do to fix it next time?

Make sure when you pull back on the right stick the elevator moves pointing UP. If not you can flip the servo reverse switch on the ELEV channel or Channel 2 located on the transmitter.
