  • Gary Cooper is amazing in every movie he's been in. He's is one of a kind and very few actors have ever been on the same level. Back when acting was actually a masterful piece of work.

  • eggs are eggs, i reckon.

  • Hes nothing compared to Simo Häya -705 kills in less than 100 days with a iron sigth M28.

He the human that killed most other humans in history

  • Gary Cooper was such a fine actor that he did not have to talk he could do it with his body language .

  • @critchley3819 so true! He is my favorite! I love the part where he's trying to understand what a subway is. It's so funny!

  • @hanovermaz I first saw this movie when I was young and it left its mark on my soul,

  • @critchley3819 There is a reason why the real sgt York only wanted Gary Cooper to play his role. No one else could have done it the same!

  • @critchley3819

    Yup.

But I'm chatty tonight. Ya got a pebble I can kick?

  • @grabit1 If you want to talk sense I will listen, but if you can't then try someone else.

  • @critchley3819

Perhaps my reference was too obscure. When Cooper appeared on WHAT'S MY LINE, Bennett Cerf identified him by asking, "Do you say 'yup' and kick pebbles a lot?"

  • @grabit1 OK, sorry about my missing your point, Im Aussie and did not see this, thanks for tour reply.

  • Watch out for Alvin "Gobble-Gobble" York!

  • Gary Cooper is awesome, this is a must see movie for everyone.

  • I read he actually used an US Enfield rather than the famous Springfield 03.

  • all anti-gun campaigners take note, gun control is a keen eye and a steady hand. and some imagination!

  • im a relative of sgt. york

  • really? what kind?

  • I stopped at the farm (state park) few years ago and one of Alvin's kin was there and got to see the family photos. I really enjoyed seeing the place and highly recommend it , just north of there is the Big South Forks Area also worth seeing.

  • @LkOutMtnMan

I remembered when he died in 1964. I was only 10 years old then. A reluctant hero.

But one of his (I believe) three commands when he agreed to allow the movie to be made was that Gary Cooper play him. Sounds like Alvin was a pretty damned good casting director.

  • okkkkkk

  • SOme of the clasics I really enjoyed, this is one of them. No director trying to be edge, just someone telling a good story.
