  • Even at over 90 years old, His Imperial Highness had a sharp wit and a burning intellect. He was without a doubt a man of tremendous depth. He is able to offer excellent insight into matters which overwhelm the extremely limited mental capabilities of our modern politicians. It is a pity that a very talented man such as himself, never had the chance to reign.

  • Perhaps something is lost due to the fact that English is not his major language, but based on what he is saying (????) or not saying (???), maybe the best he did not become king. At best it doesn't seem to make much sense. Maybe there are still remnants of all the inbreeding here?

  • At a certain high level a Muslim is one thing but over 90% are not so and so along came 911 and 77and more to come ... just read in the press.

  • Rest In Peace Prince Otto von Habsburg (1912-2011)

  • I don't believe Islam is a fascist religion; the same would be said of the Crusaders and of the Thirty Years War, when catholics and protestants were slaughtering each other. The same is the conflict in Northern Ireland. When christians kill other christians, when blondes kill blondes, then that's not fascism. Was Timothy Mcveigh representative of christians when he blew up people in Arkansas in 1995? Collective finger-pointing is a real form of fascism and far from being a christian virtue.

  • He mentions Raymundo LLull from the Balearic Islands in the 14th century. The Muslims call God "Allah", which is simply Arabic for God. Arabic-speaking Christians call God Allah also, just as ancient Jew spoke of El, or Elohim, etc. They are linguistic cognates. Muslims recognize Jesus as a prophet, much as Jehovah Witnesses. They recognize His virgin birth and honor the Virgin Mary as God's instrument. There are many reasonable Muslims that reasonable Christians can dialog with.

  • Mr. von Habsburg was brave at the time in his actions against Hitler, he should be as brave against the Islam. The Ideology of Islam is very fascist.

  • Islam is very dangerous, just read the Koran.

  • So it's Archduke Otto von Habsburg was the guy who brought multiculturalism to Europe!

  • @SuperZiggy12 No, but his family, the Habsburgs did, you might say. Archduke Otto has labored for a long time for more unity among European nations.

  • I don't think my ancestors in Europe still climbed on trees in those days when we can identify first arabs to form a civilization. This is an error. The european civilization is dating back to the stone ages including cave art and hunting skills which enabled those vaillant tribes to affront terrible ice ages. Sumerians are not arabs, neither the Pharaonic egyptians. The coptic christian egyptian comunity in Cairo may remind itself to the attention here as speaking the old egyptian language.

  • truth hurts .. :) Till today you haven't learn to wash yourself after going to toilets - in fact you need a tree in the toilets to rub and to climb on ...

  • @NicolasPeucelle

I believe Herr citizen Otto was discussing his own ancestors. :D

  • @Lillymill He is not Herr citizen Otto, he is His Imperial Highness Otto the Holy Roman Emperor and King of Austria, although his people have abandoned him God has not, and God doesn't care who we abandoned, if he graced him to be born with the divine right then that's all that matters.

  • @priest008

If God graced him with the divine right to rule he wouldn't have ended up as Herr citizen Otto now, would he?

I presume it's God's way of saying that Holy Emperors are not meant to hang around Nazis and fascists. ;)

  • @Lillymill I understand you are confused on the matter, God's will is one one thing but man's freedom to corrupt his own freedom is another, as God made nature we find ways to destroy it, as God made laws we find ways to destroy them, as God put the monarchy, we find ways to destroy it too, God willed for monarchy, but again men had their own way. People call him Herr citizen Otto but to us he is still the Holy Roman Emperor. When I look at him I see an Emperor not a citizen.

  • @priest008

There is nothing "natural" about someone's conviction in one's man divine right to rule his fellow man.

Actually it's an utter perversion and abuse of Faith.

I am literally disgusted with these shameless persistent royalist attempts to identify such a primitive form of government with Christianity.

Just because you are nostalgic about something, does not mean that you are right.

And what do you mean by "to us"?

    Who is "us" exactly?

What about his relations with Franco and Mussolini?

  • @Lillymill The Divine right of Kings is part of the Catolic faith and it was affirmed until the 1800's afterwhich it was seldom spoken of but it doesn't mean it was changed or done away with. Did you just call a monarchy 'primitive' you seem very uninformed, do you know that Republics/ democratic governments existed before monarchies? Do you? I know you may find it hard to accept how something which is 'medieval' should rule us but you should read "From Hell with Love" it explains all.

  • @priest008

Yes, I called a monarchy primitive because it is primitive.

    Crude, unrefined, savage.

Luxury and wealth, especially the one resulting from pillage, robbery and slave trade is certainly a definition of progress nor civilization.

It's one thing that there are people who feel attracted by the imperial yoke but what really pissed me off is when I heard "His Apostolic Majesty" actually defending his divine imperial right X(

What a nerve! What a barbarism!

  • @Lillymill I know you are Serbian and I respect that, but remember it was Prince Eugene of Savoy and the Habsburg army that drove the Turks out of Beograd in 1718. The Habsburgs did not gainpower y slave trade or pillage or robbery, although taking over of southern Poland in the 18th century could be called that. There is a saying : Others make war, you happy Austria marry. It was through marriage links they gained power. All northernmost EU democracies are monarchies except Germany!

  • @Lillymill Where did Archduke Otto claim "divine imperial right" ? Your country Serbia had kings also from the Obrenovic and Karageorgevic families. Were they so "barbaric"?

  • @priest008 The "divine right of kings" is NOT part of the Catholic faith. Following St. Paul, Christians are urged to respect the civil authority, obviously, with the exception of immoral and unjust laws.

  • @Lillymill Please distinguish modern Constitutional Monarchy from ancient Absolute Monarchy, although some "Republics" today are Absolute Monarchy. They are around the globe from Cuba to North Korea. You are correct to point out that monarchy is by no means a question of Christianity. There are Saudi Arabia, Oman, Nepal, Japan, and Thailand, among others. Franco was Catholic and anti-Communist. Mussolini was an atheist who sought a shaky relationship with the Catholic Church .

  • @priest008 Actually he's not king but Archeduke of Austria

  • @swedo88 Well he is a Kaiser and Emperor so not just Archduke, in fact he is styled H.I.R.H and one can only be imperial if he were an Emperor.

  • @priest008 Right, forgot that Austria became an empire after Napoleon dissolve the HRE. Isn't he techicaly king of bohemia, croatia and hungary as well?

  • @swedo88 Supposedly :) According to God he still is :)

  • @swedo88 Yes, those would be his historical titles if they were recognized by those nations.

  • @priest008 Actually, imperial and royal are titles of the Habsburg family members, archdukes and archduchesses. He doesn't have to be Kaiser (Emperor) and King (Kiraly in Hungarian) to merit those titles.

  • He definitely wishes to be a man full of respect for others. Hopefuly the future generations will be able to live up to such very high values in the face of every day reality...

  • I can't believe he's decended from Charlemange

  • Well. Otto is actually not descended from Charlemagne. Otto is of a completely different house that was given power from another house and so on and so forth. However, this man does get his authority from Charlemagne.

  • Is he? He is Habsburg...

  • This is the first time in my life that I hear Emperor Otto speaking, and cannot agree...

  • Actually, I have recently learned that many Catholic priests in Europe are already hearing frequent Confessions in Arabic. As Belloc once said, "Europe is the Faith and the Faith is Europe."

  • well... he ain't no Emperor, but he wil be muahahahaha.... my little plan...

And he speaks good, I do agree... you need to meet a muslim first.

  • For France, they(the muslims) didn't want us to colonize them, why do they come in France?

  • but you already colonized them, in Algeria 1.5 million civilians died because of colonization. En plus, la constitution francaise ne juge pas sur les ethnicites de ses citoyens, ni de leur racines.

  • algeria will be french once again, old Europe will reise, so will our Empire!

  • for sure : Islam prevails and will conquer not only your France - Islam is conquering the world right now!

  • So is it noble when Christians move into Muslim lands but horrorfying when Muslims move into Christian ones?

  • In my opinion every people should be left alone to live in peace in their own land. Invading other peoples lands only result in war and hate.

  • @Finn001abd Get REAL....in every society or tribe , you have persons that WANT MORE......so perhaps you should go back to the library.....SO WE DONT GO DOWN THE STUPID PATH AGAIN..and say things like "live in peace in their own land"! God you make me sick......you have to come up with a better explaination than that after hundreds/ if not thousands of years of historical stupid queens, kings, religions and secret societies that birth people to war?

  • I admire them (the Muslims) for their believe in God...

    Quite right!

  • The Muslims will become a majority in Europe before 2060 with current massive immigration.

  • well, if they are seeking a better life, maybe that can shed a light on international (mainly western) politics that supported their totalitarian regimes which put them under such a situation of leaving. Look at KSA, 40 billion $ weapons from USA, their regime is protected by USA, the regime is ruthless and in the stone age, what do you expect from its people who want to seek a better life? Why support the totalitarian regimes for narrow political purposes then?
