Yes, it's the Adventus arp but you have to place note in the right position to get this sound, not only 3 bars at the same lenght

I guess what I mean to say is, could I buy, say an alesis photon, plug it in with USB, use a program like the one you use, and select a sound on the software, then use the keys and play the instrument live? Thanks.

Yes! I can recommend Cubase.

Plug in your Midi controller, load up your VST's (Virtual Instruments) by clicking F11, and assign the midi input to give it's output to your VST. PM me if you need help.

I need to understand something. If you get a midi controller keyboard can you play the intruments from a virtual synth? Is that all you need, and does it go through just the USB? Once you have a midi controller is it compatible with most virtual synths? Been recording for years, but just with my Alesis QS6.1 so far. Thanks for any help. I'm really curious about this stuff.

Yes, almost all vst intrument can be connected to your midi keyboard, you should work with a sequencer like Fruityloop

If you have a soundblaster type card on your computer you can get an adapter for about $25 to hook your Alesis MIDI up to your keyboard's MIDI and use that.
