  • this only came to london in november for the first time.....and it was awesome....cant wait to go again best £40 ive ever spent

  • Nerdy? well as a hardcore gaming sick o playing video games make's you a nerd listening to music makes you calm happy anything but nerdy!

  • My Top 10: 10. Eternal Wind 9. FF II Main theme 8. FF I Town theme 7. My Mind 6. Battle to the Death 5. Four Valiant Hearts 4. Theme of Love 3. Aerith's Theme 2. Yuna's Theme 1. Cloud Smiles :)
  • One of my favorite FF pieces is from Final Fantasy XII - Time For Rest.

  • Most FF music is better than the tripe that plays on the radio these days.

  • That would be awesome. I'm a huge fan of VG music but I haven't gone to any live shows. Video Games Live even came through Regina and I kind of regret not going.

  • You lucky bastards! I only just found out about this and they're touring in London in November and tickets went on sale LAST DECEMBER!

  • Can't wait to see it, only one week to go C:

  • I've been to a Nobuo Uematsu concert some years ago: it was not that HUGE, but the FF themes are so inspiring and epic that nothing else mattered.

  • I watched this in Atlanta in May and it was amazing!!! There's even a second CD now, and it's awesome!! at the one I went to Nobuo sang with the choir for One Winged Angel as well.

  • like if you are canadian

  • Damn. i wished they came to Germany or something. At least thats manageable for a person living in Holland.

  • i truly wish i could see distant worlds one day in my life..

  • dude...i live really close to you. Does that freak you out?

  • LONG LIVE CANADA!!!!!

  • Game Music is not nerd at all!! Just listen to Final Fantasy VII Crisis Core Track:

The Price of Freedom!! very teary track in deed, and only one of many great gaming tracks of all time. Many Games posses beautiful music:

    Final Fantasy series

    Metal Gear Solid Series

    Dragon Quest Series

    Halo Series

Many memorable games consist well composed soundtracks that become instinct Classics, and brings the magic out of the game, making it more then just a game, but a great journey in story telling.

  • I went, I saw Nobuo Uematsu, he made a joke about how he would like a black chocobo from hell.

  • The Toronto concert was awesome! Nobuo took the stage at one winged angle, and join the choir!

  • awesome,i like what you said.i'm already going to a distant worlds concert anyway,i liked hearing that.this will also be my first symphony concert

  • Just got my ticket for the distant world that's coming up in Toronto. Hope it's as good as the Vancouver one. ^_^

  • Just got my ticket for the distant world coming up in Toronto. Hope it's as good as the Vancouver one. ^_^

  • I saw it! It was good! But the composer kinda messed up on the names and couldnt find his sheet music xD

  • One-winged Angel? I would have preferred Dancing Mad for the closing song. That's just me though, both are great songs.

  • Make me want to go see FF music played live even more!!!

  • The Houston Symphony (I live in Houston :3) did FFDW on my brithday of all days and I couldn't go because my mother was stubborn....!!! T^T

  • I don't know what other people thought about the San Diego concert that played a few days ago, but I thought it was pretty bad. The San Diego orchestra is known for being pretty bad, and this was further proof.

If anybody went there and thought it was bad, don't assume that other distant world concerts are bad, because that's far from the truth.

  • @JPhands it wasnt that bad. but it was very slop tempo. still got chills.

  • im going tomorrw!!!!!!!! SDSDSD!!!

  • I would totally go if they appeared here <3

  • I've seen Video Games Live 3 times, but the most recent show was a few years ago. Just saw this video and went to the Distant Worlds site and lucky me, theyre playing in my area on July 15th and 16th. Thank you for posting this video, if I hadn't seen it I would have totally missed out.

  • Play is a good Cd. BattleField is the best on Play. FFDW, I listened to the discs, and loved it, and I really want to go to San Diego, but I am stuck in Illinois. I missed the Chicago one, since I didn't know it existed at that time. I can't go to all Video Game Symponies, this will be a once in a lifetime chance if I do go. One downside is that the SD one is outside, and I don't like outside that much as inside. The echo is much more dimmed...

  • It's crazy I was just listening to One Winged Angel!

And you're right it's an amazing feeling. Sadly I haven't seen Distant Worlds or Play! yet but I went to see Star Wars in Concert last year and it was amazing! A complete blast that can't really be described.

  • damn that when Distant Worlds came to Sweden it was in Stockholm -_- (Stockholm is on Swedens east coust i live on Swedens west coust for u guys who dont know)

  • @ekan1995

damn i missed that (i live in sweden near Stockholm)

PS, i love Final Fantasy music

  • i didn't even know they did video game music live events, this is so cool!

  • I went to a Video Games Live in Seattle,WA about 5 years ago. That was my first live symphony orchestra I went to. I loved it!

    But Distant Worlds sounds cool.

  • Hey man, it sounds like the FF Distant Worlds thing was awesome, I'll definitely have to see that if it ever comes to the UK. I recently went to see Video Games Live in Gateshead, UK, which was a very small venue, but they still put on an amazing show and it was amazing to meet so many like-minded people - I'd certainly recommend it to everyone.

Anyway, hopefully either this or Play will come to the UK at some point and me and the gf will go and enjoy that too :)

P.S. Thanks for the vids :)

  • i saw the final fantasy distant world premier here in sweden it was so fucking good

  • Only game music Ive heard played by an orchestra was OCARINA OF TIME , and it was awesome too

  • i saw this too and i agree with you it was just awesome

  • are you going to get final fantasy 13 ps3?

  • Ahhh I am so jealous and sad at the same time because I always wanted to be in a videogame music concert and from your description man this would be THE concert... Here in Greece which I live I doubt if anyone will manage to organize such a concept...

  • have you seen the movie final fantasy 7 advent children?

  • for my for what i am proud is my final fantasy collection i have all the games remakes all dont matter hat version edition remake i have all of them and that in my collection i am proud

  • I get alot of crap for listening to Falco and Kraftwerk all the time. Like orchestra music, the people who say they don't like it have probably never been to one.I would love to go to the show if it comes to Memphis.

Great reviews! I am a happy subscriber!

  • wow. It is really hard to believe I live about 3 hours from Johnny.

  • Man with the Machine Gun is my favorite arranged song

  • I thought you would do a video on this.

looks like you had a great time.

  • LOL... That's not nerdy. Video games and game music, is just like any other art form expressed in the world of digital media. Besides, most people who call this nerdy, more than likely waste their time on dumb stuff, like their image.

Personally, DQ's - Overture, always brings tears to my eyes. I love the nostalgia, and the feeling of a new adventure awaiting me.

  • @asobermindisawasted1 "dumb stuff like their image" - that's pretty dumb lol

  • pretty awesome dude!

assist to a concert of that kind its not geeky or nerdy its so cool i dont know why people everytime has to tell you a bad thing of the things you like

i like so much vedeogames sountracks i like mega man, demons crest, metal slug and many many more

dude have you ever heard POWERGLOVE?

if you dont , hear it they are awesome they play metal music but their metal game covers are so so sooo nice

    i recommended to you :P

  • Awesome video, dude. I saw VGL last time they were here and it was incredible.

  • who dont like the final fantasy music if they are not a proper fan ! sounds like a fun time ill shall have to keep me ear out for it if it ever comes here thanks maan great video :)

  • Having used to play for a symphony orchestra, I totally get what you mean. You really do just swept away in it all. Totally jealous, it'll never come to Australia :(

  • Having been to a few orchestras I can imagine how awesome it would sound in a well designed theater for acoustics.

  • That sounds like one awesome experience you and Robman had there!! I would love for activities like to come around the area that the Gooch and myself live at.

    Great video!

    ~DB

  • Dom spelade faktiskt i sthlm förra året ; )

  • i wish i had the games on your table and the consoles to play them...FF is one of THE greatest series period.

  • Wow it sounded like you had an awesome time, and I can tell you are pumped up afterwards. FF has some of the best gaming music/music around.

  • i said the same thing wen i went to one of this concerts

  • jesus soo jelous of you..... that would never come to rotterdam DAMNIT!:(

  • another great vid.

really would like that collection you have there, allways been a fan of Final Fantasy and it's music. btw, you should do a video on the Kingdom Hearts games ^_^

  • gamedeals (dot) ca

they got a site up now, sweet deals guys, snagged mgs4 finally

  • sweet jacket bro

  • damn I was there too.. it was soooooooooooo good

  • I REALLY hope this comes close to me. I listen to several of Uematsu's works while I work every day. I wish I could've headed up to Canada for this!

  • that collection on ur table is awesome!!

  • awesome shirt!!

  • If it comes around here in Texas, I'll make a note of it.

Also, have you by chance heard of the Star wars concert?

  • Aww Goddamn, i'm getting shivers just as you speak about it.

It's an extreme shame I live in the UK or I would be most definetly checking that out.

    Great video though!

  • Awesome.....

  • that's awesome, johnny!! i'll have to check that out if it ever comes to austin!

  • You should definitely check out the metal band Symphony X, there music reminds me alot of the FF battle themes.

  • I saw distant worlds when they played over here in sweden last year.. It was truly amazing

  • Glad you enjoyed the show - it must have been great. I always enjoyed seeing Orchestras as a kid, I was lucky to see those - to see a Final Fantasy one though, awesome..

  • people who say going to a live performance is nerdy are nurds them selves, an orchistra is high class man. GaMe On!

  • Sounds epic.

FFVIII's music was always the best to me. My least favorite FF, but the music is amazing.

  • ffviii is the best i think

  • i went to Play: a videogame symphony last year when it was here in dallas and it was awesome as well, they played alot of different game music like FF, oblivion, Silent Hill and others. the encore was One winged angel and they played it twice! it was the coolest thing.

  • ff6 the best ff music of all time.

  • Not a bad thing but the guys who said that you going to final fantasy distant worlds is geeky have other things to pick on :P

Your game collection is so impressive and cool.

  • Man, I wish something like distant worlds would come closer to where I live, alas, I will likely never be able to see anything like this. It sounds like it was amazing through. I listened to a few of the songs from the CD and they sounds great, I'll have to get a hold of a copy since that's the closest I'll be able to come to actually hearing the music performed.

  • Im so jealous of you Just curious but did they do Terra's theme and if so was it the vocal version? That is my favorite piece of music from the Series

  • It was an awesome show, I was there that night and listening to the Opera theme gave me chills.

Wasn't impressed with the second encore though, just because of how cliche One Winged Angel has become. Good song, but overplayed and oversold as the best Final Fantasy song ever.

  • robman said about this on facebook, good to hear you both had a good time, wish it could come to england :S

    great vid tho!

  • Saw the show in Minneapolis, MN. Great, great show. I cried during the performance of To Zanarkand... phenomenal.

  • Hey man awesome review, and props goes to Oliver for sending you that cd, how nice of him! :D

  • Symphony music can evoke emotion like no other music, powerful stuff indeed. Cool video.

  • final fantasy is some of these best music ever made in any genre of media

  • Was this the one in the Orpheum Theatre? It was pretty freaking amazing.

  • Ya, Minneapolis?

  • Nah, Vancouver. I live about an hour away from it.

  • lol FF13 Which one?

  • that sounds amazing man, wish i could have seen it

  • Now I'm really sad that I missed it. :(

  • Awesome man, you're lucky! I wish we could get those kind of concerts here....

  • This is one game series I never got into! I was more into Zelda which I played ALLOt! and I am just now starting some pokemon and kingdom hearts just a fw months now lol I really want to start a FF game which is good for the DS any suggestions?

  • Wish I could've been there!

  • Id love to go to see that if it was here in the uk! Also nice one with regards to the retro gamer magazine, nice to see you get a mention in there!

  • My friend who went with me who has never really played many of the games Was completely blown away.

Nobuo was at the concert in Seattle, they screwed up the Distant worlds track from XI though.

  • Ah! I went and saw distant worlds In seattle back in July.

    All the music was fantastic

  • las peliculas en hd son muy demoradas mas lo vidoe eres very good.

  • varey niice video dude

  • sounds awsome i dont know if ur a starwars fan but they do the same thing with starwars and it plays music from all 6 movies with a big screen showing scenes from the movie

  • man that must have been that highlight of your life there.

  • that sounds awsome

  • great review, i def will check it out if it comes around here. I think a great way you could have ended your video was a big "Prestige Worldwide" shouting lol. thanks again for the videos

  • I'm jealous! I'd love to see this! I did a video when I went to Video Games Live and I was blown away by that. Nobuo Uematsu is a genius.

  • Meh, I think One Winged Angel is pretty damn overrated

It's not bad at all, but not the best piece in the history of gaming

  • i love final fantasy music, really incredible and amazing composition

  • I saw it in Chicago 2 years ago and while I enjoyed it I was also soerly dissapointed. Being a lover of video game music, I can not stand the fact that they dumb down the experience with the video screens and lighting effects. The compositions are powerful enough to exist on their own, and richly layered and complex enough to tell the story without beating the audience over the head. The audience is clearly composed of fans, so they do not need the images.

  • i hope it comes here in Alberta :)

  • That sounds awesome! I hope they come here too. I'm not a big fan of Final Fantasy, but the music in it is fantastic. :)

  • Not a fan of FF but do like the music in the games so i would love to go to something like this so am glad you had a fantastic time and for sharing it with us.

  • 4:34 to 4:43 the inner nerd kicks in! lmao

    I love it lol :D

    Nice Video HCG!

  • Haha, you really must have liked it a lot... :P :-)

  • it's time to get a canadian visa!

  • that is so awesome! i would go to that in a second no hands down! good vid!

  • I wonder if they are coming to Toronto =/

  • OH 0_o man!!!

This must have been fucking EPIC!!!

  • awesome o_o

  • I just looked to see if this concert is playing anywhere near me. No luck :(

I would have DIED to hear the Opera scene!

  • Awesome, I'm quite jealous :P I've been to video games live and really loved that, and this looks even more awesome!

  • Sounds like a completely amazing experience. I'm so jealous!

  • it was in Vancouver??!!! where the hell was I??!! dangit!

  • What some people don't know is that video-games could be just as an art or a masterpiece as a movie classic; in both visual and musical.

It's great that music orchestra are making live concert playing great video-game musicals.

Here's an idea! How about a Final Fantasy Opera?

  • omg i wish i could see this but im in uk

  • same here, and to top it off there is no video games live in london this year :(

  • i went to the one in texas. i enjoyed it. it was worth the money.

  • UGH! I missed it cuze I had was on a trip to NY when it came to my town...

  • thats soo cool.

  • DUDE!!!! Freakin awsome! Damn I wish I was there lol

  • It IS really geeky, and we're ALL ok with that.

  • Some PS Final Fantasy games are on sale at Fry's and Electronics. Cool they have those games in stock.Great review!

  • Ah I'd love to see this :D And yay that sounds good that Nobuo is finishing FFXIV music, sounds like its getting close to done :D

so how much was this though?

  • It sounds like it was amazing. I will have to see if they are coming to Toronto I would love to see it.

  • wow it sounds amazing :)

    great vid

  • Try hearing some proper classical music and you'll be even more amazed.

  • Hope it comes out my way. Halifax is probly my best bet. Great vid.

  • same :)

  • That seems like an awesome experience. The closest I'll probably get to seeing something like this is Play! in 2010.

  • Man I wish I could have been there. That would have been amazing I'm sure. You lucky guy you!

  • Yeah, this has been done before in America. A few years back we had the "Dear Friends" concert series, with Nobuo directing on stage!

  • Come to America! New York! :DD

  • Well Video Games Live on 10/25 at Beacon Theater will play some orchestrated FF music.

  • Great video.

Big fan of the FF music over these past years, just recently started picking up the soundtracks.

Too bad things like these are hard to see in the Netherlands.

  • Wow sounds great, I wonder if they'll come to Toronto.

  • ive not gone to one of these yet but next time i get a chance im going thanks for sharing

  • shit i hope they come to ottawa

  • final fantasy 8 being the best of the series for my oppinion i just love that game

  • I went to Video Games Live last year in London and it blew me away.I'd love to go to that concert so will defo be looking out for it.

  • Sounds cool Johnny, Dinkydana when to something similar in USA but it included other video game music also.

If there was something like that over in Newcastle I would go. :-)

  • I wish the Montreal Symphonic Orchestra would do that too!!!

  • Great video. There's a Star Wars, John William's, Symphony Orchestra coming to town. I'm definitely going to check it out. Thanks. =)

  • i know. i've seen live orchestra of Beethoven. their breath taking.

  • Sounds like a fantastic night out! Would love to attend something like this!

  • Man I wish I could have gone! REALLY COOL. They should do one for Chrono Trigger because the music was really good there too!

  • ARRRGH! I want them to come to the UK!

  • Agreed, that would be incredible, but I'll be amazed if it does come over here.

  • Fantastic stuff. \m/

  • "They played Man with a Machine Gun. I almost passed out!"

That part cracked me up. XD

Honestly, while I'm not a huge fan of FF music, I wouldn't mind hearing some of the music from IV live. Also, the opera scene from VI would've been awesome.

  • This better come to the uk :)

  • it may be nerdy but to us nerds its the greatest thing EVER! lol

  • Dude I,m so jealous, if that comes to the UK I'm definitely going. Hearing 'One Winged Angel' fully orchestrated would be worth the admission fee alone!!

  • I felt your passion in this episode, HCG. I was fortunate to catch two Final Fantasy concerts in my lifetime. The first one "Dear Friends" (2004) @ Walt Disney Music Hall. And "More Friends" (2005) @ the Gibson Amphitheatre located near Universal Citywalk. Both times I witnessed Nobou Uematsu performing on-stage which was surreal. My favorite moment out of the two concerts was when Mr. Uematsu jammed with his "Black Mage" rock band @ the "More Friends" concert.

  • Damn, wish I could be there!

  • Who cares if its nerdy

  • Its really good, hope i can see it soon.

  • i want to go there soooo bad.....but i live in germany :(

  • "There's nothing nerdy about doing any of this"

Who cares if something is nerdy or not? ;)

  • fantastic musical experience!

  • Wow! You were soooo lucky to catch that.

  • ffxiv should have some good music if it's anything like ffxi

  • In Australia, we have a similar thing called - Eminence Symphony Orchestra (headed by a Japanese/Australian) they've actually recorded full orchestral scores for games like Soul Calibur IV, Odin Sphere to name a few.

Every year, they get together and perform a concert covering everything from Final Fantasy to Metal Gear Solid.. I have to say - it single-handedly turned me on to classical music (Bach, Paganini etc.)

You're absolutely right about the power, Metal bands don't come close to it!

  • Wait ! Nobuo is doing music for SquareEnix again?

  • Whats the problem with being a geek?

Thats a question they wont answer!!

  • Very cool video!!!! :D

It's cool you got Distant Worlds in Canada. :)

We have a group known as "Eminence"

and they cover a wide range of games including FF.We were even lucky enough to Nobuo himself come to Australia for a concert a few years back (unlucky for me cause I couldn't go T.T).

However I did go a Eminence piano concert in 2006 and man it was mad. XD

The pianist played both anime and game music .But I absolutely flipped out when First step towards Wars from Ys was played.

  • I have that video game symphony live cd too! It was so good that i uploaded it to youtube. :P

  • a lot of people would be surprised to hear classical music in person and the difference of it live as opposed to a cd :)

  • there was a concert here in LA a while back....the reason i didnt go was cause it sold out T_T

  • wow mate that sounds amazing. Would love to see that but I bet it doesnt come to the UK like most cool things dont!! anyway it gave me shivers just hearing about the show. Let alone watching it. I bet it was great... thanks mate ;o)

  • I missed Symphonic Fantasies (the German version of this) because of a LAN party. Now I have to wait a year until they do it again D:
