  • The sister should have made the boys stay inside until the storm was over...or if they had to go outside she should have told them not to sit under the tree at least. :|

  • you can only cry wolf so many times ...

  • I remember laying in bed during what was just an overcast day when suddenly KABOOM! A massive lighting strike hit in the back yard causing me to jump up. There was no rain, nor any thunder or wind before hand.

Moral: lightning can strike even if it does not seem like it's not going to rain.

  • Sitting under trees is for SUNNY days.....

  • For some reason, that lightning bolt looks computer animated.

  • my mom knows how those perents feel see my moms aunt or something was struck by lightning died like a week later

  • lightning is fake

  • this not real enough for me to belive fnjreigu

  • this is fake fnjreigu

  • this is fake

  • this happend on my birthday

  • were do you get the videos from

  • @ThePipercole I have them on tape.

  • the lighting bolt kinda looked fake..but its real

  • That Doctor almost look like Walt Disney

  • whenever i think of rescue 911 i think of this episode. man i miss the 80s soooooo bad. i was about the same age as them at that time.

  • matching lightning charms and hairdos

  • 1:55 so fake

  • I feel so bad for those guys..... :(

  • It would be awsome to die and then be alive

  • what are the ones that dont end well?

  • this happened to me when i was eight im now thirteen and always get a weird tingling sensation in my arm

  • they don't say DO NOT SIT UNDER A TREE DURING A LIGHTNING STORM because of the risk of being hit by lightning, its because when the tree is hit, it explodes, releasing shrapnel.

  • that lightning struck looked fake

  • Lighting is like tapping into Hign Tension Lines.

  • at 04:35 the narrator says "it's been nearly 4 minutes since the boys had been struck by lightning"... WOW! that was a long four minutes for the parents to return and do all they did...

  • whats the next video called that was advertised? :)

  • @kandyflosschick "Mattress Mayhem"

  • Never sit under a tree

  • 2:57 now that's great CPR....not

  • ok....it's lightening...don't go under trees.

  • i lol'd at the lightning.... Poor editing

  • "BBRRREEEEKUURRRNNACHHHOOORAKKKEEEEEEEEEEEE" That's all i got from the phone call...

  • That sure was a shocking segment

  • 6:27-6:34 "Emergency 3" moment...

  • July 24, 1987 was 5 days before my 5th birthday and 20 days after my parents' 7th wedding anniversary. My brother Andrew was almost 3.

  • lol at the horrible lightning effect.

  • This episode gave made me terrified of being struck by lighting as a child.

  • That is why you should never be under a tree during a thunderstorm.

  • why the heck do they need a cop for people who were struck by lightening???

  • arent they so old that they have learned in school to not sit under a tree while its thunder??? O.o

  • sorry i know its serious but that was lame lighting effects.

  • Wow. That is easily the worst effect I have ever seen on this show. Normally they are rather well-done, especially for the time; what happened here?

  • @1RadicalOne I guess CGI hadn't come that far in 1990.

  • Now they can say they survived a thousands of voltage of electricity.

  • Thank you for the input Captain Science!

  • but the lightning was soooooooo bad faked

  • I love this show

  • LOL OWNED BY PIKACHU!!!!

    Pikachu Used Thunder!

    Tree and kids where defeated!

    pikachu gained 0 EXP!

  • i like how in these situation the 911 operaters, have so much compassion when they find its a kid on a the phone...idk..im wierd i guess

  • nice editing on lighting

  • That's why you should not sit under a tree during a thunderstorm

  • i remember watching this!! wow i was just thinking of which ones i remembered and missed watching this as a kid, but this episode i remember cleary one of the best ones actually...

  • I really feel bad for those boys that were struck by lightning

  • oh quality special effects!!! getting killed by lightning strikes tho is the second most uncommon way to get killed, right after shark attacks. Most people survive the shock if they are that unlucky to get struck. The only people who are in any real danger are those with metal based implants and pacemakers

  • im wondering why the daughter didnt call her parents after she hung up the phone after calling 911 thats what i would have done so they could meet her at the hospital

  • yup, never ever sit under a tree during a storm. most dangerous place you can be.

  • Yep, that or water...a tree is even worse if it's a stand alone tree, like in this segment

  • @rambojuliuscaesar well theres more dangerous places but thats won of them i know that

  • @rambojuliuscaesar No, the most dangerous place you can be is in Toys R Us during christmas. *sudder* I still have nightmares.

  • What state was the city of Gulf port in?

  • Mississippi

  • So those boys were struck by lighting in Mississippi

  • Oh God Nooo!!!!!

  • I lived in Ocean Springs and there is a Rescue 911 episode that takes place there which involves two high school kids suffering through alcohol poisoning after drinking so much liquor.

  • The actor who plays the blonde kid in this re-enactment also played one of the kids in the Ocean Springs segment.

  • do you have the ocean springs segment?

  • @fritzeugen02 Basckit13 uploaded that one.

  • Comment removed

  • RogueKnight12866 stop being envious

  • why didn't the sister do anything she just stayed in the house?

  • because she thought they were playing around.

  • when she realised they were not playing around, she phoned her parents

  • I hope those boys are ok

  • Bet those two boys did what they were told from then on. At least during thunderstorms...

  • ouch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • although the lightning looked really fake............That is still really scray for the parents and sad for them

  • Those 2 boys should always think before going outside especially if it was thundering or if there was lightning!

  • does anybody recognized the shot at 07:10 that is used when RESCUE 9-1-1- went into syndication in 1994.

  • gas

  • This episode used Twister technology.

  • it looked fake...:(

  • 7:11 The cameraman inside the ambulance, lol.

  • lol they go on the boat at the end together....and then get struck by lighting

  • that looked funny

  • smart asses they renenact u cant u really shock people with lightning

  • they dont look 11 and the girl didnt look 13

  • man the sister's just thinking about beating him up! listen to her.

  • they should've bought lottery ti tickets lol x

  • 13 years old and she doesn't know to call 911 after standing there watching dudes parents do cpr... smarter 4 year olds out there.

  • lol im 13 and i can call 911

  • i'm 14 and in england and i dnt even kno wat to dial, is it 999?

  • well maybe she was in a panic and in shock. in times like that, the mind can shut down and it can take some time before the person is thinking straight

  • @Drolan77 A three year old did that in another episode.

  • @Drolan77 She should have insisted that both boys stay inside cause the storm was coming. The boys & her could maybe have played a game of cards, watched a movie or she could have been real nice and offered to scratch the boys backs for them (that feels good!). She was really stupid not calling 911 right away.

  • im beginning to remember how fake the lightning looked

  • CGI wasn't the best in the early 90's :-)

  • cgi?

  • rofl looked like zedd lightning from MMPR

  • White painted fences - white houses - perfectly manicured lawns - prefect neighborhood - Only white people - I'm thinking what....down Chicago right ??

  • lol its probably down chicago

  • At least they didn´t suffer burns.

  • LoL, Nice Special effects!

    1:55

  • I'm surprised the lightening struck the kids. Lightening is supposed to strike the object nearest the ground--which, in this case, is obviously the treetop.

That being said, I'm not even going to wonder how someone can think a lightening strike is another human being's fault.

I feel the need to say that, as Paramedics, we learn really fast that things happen. You can't control when an accident occurs.

If you could, my work would be a lot easier.

  • they should have listened to the sister

  • Nice pair of rich, preppy parents totally unfit to have children in their charge. They're more concerned with their social lives and wealth than actual parenting of their sons. This is exactly the kind of parents I despise and should lose their kids forever and some of their fortune as a lesson in humility.

  • Why are they unfit to have children, just b/c their son was struck by lightning?

So parents who go out once in a while are unfit?

My mom went to a neighborhood party when I had a fever, and she was a DSS for years. I lived with her until I graduated high school.

I'm glad most people at accident and medical emergency scenes aren't like you.

When someone experiences a trauma, the last thing they need to hear is that it's their fault-especially in cases where it isn't.

  • how is this the parents fault, hell i didnt know people could control the weather now

  • what state did this incident take place in? There is a Mississippi state flag on the EMT's shirt at 5:00 but they did sound like Texas accents.

  • I'm pretty sure it was Mississippi, since the town was Gulfport.

  • I've been thru Gulfport before, en route to New Orleans (pre-Katrina)! Near Biloxi, former home of Barq's root beer! (And still many a gambling casino)

  • fake

  • @dave11686 It is in Mississippi

  • special effects suck

  • Yeah my special effects look better than this, however considering the time this was made and considering it's a t.v. show...it's justified

  • Starts at 3:50

  • Dumb Sh*ts sitting under a tree during a lightening storm! Hoo Haa!

  • Granted, it was a dumb thing to do...but sheesh there's certainly nothing funny about it. Want someone to laugh at you (hoo haa) if you were the victim? Dumb ass.

  • idiots..this is an re-enacment..you obviously can't just expect another storm just like the one that acutally struck down the kid..

  • Hey assholes This is a reenactment of coarse the lightning isn't real this is from a TV show called rescue 911 don't whine about the 1980's special effects because you wanted to see real footage of some poor little kids get fried by lightning you sick bastards.

  • OMG that's scary! Thank goodness that they are ok.

  • The lightning is a lot fake.

  • lol at the lighting anamation...

  • this is where the concept of staying away from trees during storms came from

  • My Uncle got struck by lightning on the phone.

  • it was their 16th anniversary and their daughters 15th birthday, wow their daughter was born a year after on their wedding date

  • They should have moved them away from the trees. If the trees were hit again there would be 10 patients instead of 2.

  • the dad is doing CPR wrong.. the way he's compressing the chest suggests he's bending at the elbows.. keep them locked.

  • That's because it's a re-enactment. Those actors playing the kids are live and well, so they can't do real chest compressions.

  • And some damn good actors they have too. Getting a kid to lay deathly still is almost impossible. :)

  • Is it sometimes the actual people who play themselves, or are they always actors? I think the actors in the re-enactment often really look like the actual people.

  • Sometimes actors play the victims, and sometimes the victims play themselves. It looks like the kids in the re-enactment are actors, but their parents and the doctors played themselves.

  • Yer if u did it right on the reenactment when the actor was alive it could kill them

  • Tagline for this segment: "Don't go outside"

  • chrisplushado, no1 deserves this!!! NO ONE!!!

  • this so sad and its amazing they survived. i always listen to NOAA weather radio and whatch the sky.

  • what part of the country are you in i know NOAA is all around the country

  • i'm ny and we get allot storms up here. i'm avid outdoorsman and i would leave the house with out it great thing for my kit.

  • ohno kidding im in NY also

  • ha ha they diserved itt they should listen

  • i learn alot from this now i know how to sope with sitlations likem this

  • Nooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!

  • goo goobly poop

  • plz tell me how do you record or uploud vids to youtube. tnx

  • you take a dump on the pot and recerd it and then fart then pop it on here.

  • nahhhh just foling around wit u, u go to multi vid uploader 'nd' ('n') and gfet the vid undupload it

  • u a dickferd

  • I didn't know where this was there are two gulfports one in FLorida near Tampa and one in Mississippi but I found out it was in Mississippi and knew coz their accents where more southern I'm also scared of lightning

  • iz dis real or you edited it??

  • its a dickford

  • what to mee!?!?!?!!!

    <(:<)}

  • Didn't they know that if you sit or stand beside a tree you may get struck by lightning?

  • pole bean

  • Wow i have never seen lightning like that before thats amazing! And hey, what are the chances of getting struck! LOL

  • Lightning does not hav to touch you in order to hurt you or kill you.

  • I've read somewhere that the chances of being struck by lightning are estimated at 1 in 700,000.

  • woooooooo

  • You can tell that that lightning was fake. I can't believe that those boys would be outside in the rain and storms!

  • They are actors. Only a small number of people choose to re-enact their horror.

  • I know the blonde boy was played by an actor because that actor was also in another Rescue 911 segment where they re-enacted an alcohol overdose in a town close to where this segment happened. I think the other boy was also an actor, but it looked like the rest of the people involved were the real people.

  • I know the sister thought they were joking, but if she'd bothered to come out, she would have seen that they were serious. Also, she should've told 911 that there were 2 victims. It's important that they know to send 2 ambulances. I don't know if I'd go so far as to call her stupid, but she wasn't really thinking.

  • Another rare occurence here: Shatner doesn't mention the city and state where the situation occurs. He simply gives the date and sets the scene. But we soon know from the fire trucks that this happened in Gulfport, Mississippi.

  • DONT SIT UNTER A TREE lol

  • Better yet, don't go outside during a thunderstorm..

  • hehheheheh man that's fayk

  • It's a re-enactment dumbfuck.

  • As soon as I heard any thunder I would go inside imediantly!!!!!!

  • The sister is extremely dumb. She stands in the doorway watching her parents doing CPR and she can't figure out for herself to call 911. Wow. I'm glad they're both all right though.

  • shes thirteen and shes scared your brain dosent react that fast ... i probally would of doen the same thing me being stupid and all

  • i dont know she seems 15 to me

  • She was probably 15 or 16 when they filmed this. It happened in 1987, but they re-enacted it three years later in 1990.

  • how come its all bright and sunny as soon as they got struck? was god just fooling around relly quick just for a laugh?

  • Lightning can strike you from 10 miles away...people have been struck and killed when it is sunny overhead many times.

  • hey y arent the cards brunt huh? i thought lighting was relly relly hot
