The Wai Khru is awesome before fights because it gives the fighters a chance to show the crowd their prowess, strength and readiness through the demonstration of control, style and balance. and i might be getting a little too much on the karate kid side here but the meaning is enchanting. giving respect to your trainers, teacher, God and man all while asking for protection for not only yourself but your opponent as well. It's like asking for forgiveness for the brutality of fighting.

@Nakorn24 its not a Buddhist thing. in thai wai means to pay respect and khru means the teacher the only Buddhist thing about it is walking round all four sides of the ring to honour the four nobel truths of buddha but that's not particularly Buddhist. its just saying that he respects the tradition. anyone can learn the four noble truths without being Buddhist. its a lesson not a religion
