  • Nice video, and everything is so neat.I hear you talk about getting the right wire

size, what size wire do you have coming from your wind turbine to your charge

    controller?.

    JA Robby.

  • I've noticed your friend "Yankeeprepper" has two words within his limited vocabulary .. bullshit and god .. at least my 5mins invested in "YP" found your site. I've been off grid since June 1996. Thx for sharing with the masses. N...XP

  • Amazing you rock, I've just started on my path of solar and wind power. At the end of my journey my system has to produce 50 kilowatts a day.

  • Great video, No wonder so many Liked it. Subscribe to my channel if you like SOLAR ENERGY. Happy Holidays Everybody.

  • That must have been expensive. Panels, turbine and all the inverters, batteries, charge controllers, wiring and switches? How much would u estimate the total cost to be.

  • this is the best system I've seen so far

  • Wow I am impressed you do very good neat work , i want to build a system like that like it very much

  • Witch one is better the tri metric 2020

Or the digital display for my xantrex c35

  • @jonathans1212 I recomend both your display on your charge controller is real time info and your trimetrik is your gas gage. They make much better units now I would look in to it. I hope that helped.

  • @OBXSOLWIND ok but what is a good one

  • Hey I have a 12v battery and based on what I've heard 6v golf cart batteries are the way to go I only have about 100 watts of solar but can I have 2 golf cart batteries 12v and 1 12v battery until the 12v dies then have only 6v batteries

  • @jonathans1212 Yes you can if your charging source is large enough. If you are cycling your batterys it is not a good idea. That is why I have a switch to keep my battery banks seperated. Remember bird of a feather flock together.

  • I bet I've watched this video 20 times. I absolutely love the details that you're willing to share. I have 1 question. I want to get about 300-400 watts of panels soon. I've been experimenting with the little small 10-15w units. In your opinion, what brand/model/etc of panel would you recommend a new solar user start with?

  • @deanlisenby I would recommend 100W sun panels from SUNELEC.COM. They are good panels and they do not have to be truck shiped they ship UPS.

    I hope that helps.

  • @deanlisenby It depends on UL listed VS non. I like the SUN panels from sunelec . com the prices right now are great. Kevin

  • Have you found a great source for LED lights at a better price than the stores yet?

  • @dieselplow Ebay china

  • could you talk about diodes for panels , thxs

  • when are you expecting to get the mony back with this setup

also are you still relighing on the energy compony fore some things or are they giving you mony

one last thing how long will one of those batterys last when connected to a running laptop and a running 12v tv

    thanks alot

  • Nice setup!!!! Where did you get the solar panels form and how much were they because i will like to add to my solar panel setup.

  • Kevin

You talk about ul approved on some of your stuff to get the OK.

Looks like your not making you own solar pannels or wind gen. like I see all over the net. Is that why? Is the ul approvel keeping you from making your own?

Thanks, love your videos, keep them comming.

  • Great Job Buddy Nice setup Im Jealous

  • Kevin, I've been admiring you system for sometime now. My question is about Net metering. Ive heard that the power co. will not allow A DIY system. I'm from a different state, Louisiana but heard you have to be a license electrician or certified installer to get a net meter anywhere. I want to Do it myself. how hard is it to get the ok in your state?

  • Hey You need to call your power company and ask for a grid tie application and see what they require. If you own your home you can do all the wiring your self but it may require a licenced electrition to sign off on it. Get the application from your local utility and it will answer your questions. • I wish I found this channel about a year ago! man Great Stuff! 5 Stars!!

  • I can't get enoughg of this channel. Great videos!!

  • Wow OBXSOLWIND !! Yer a Freak ! I love the details, & neatness, What a clean & fun set-up, Lots of cool meters & lights...Good for you, it's beautiful ! Thick Wires Good ! lol I'm in the Venice Beach area, and just starting My baby steps ! Thank you for taking the time to show us !!!

  • You are welcome Thanks for the comment.

    Cheers

  • Thanks, I found your control center very interesting... I must admit I am lost on the details of building such a contraption... I comprehend several different types of major generating components but I am a miss when it comes to linking everything in a command center consol such as you have. I applaud your ingenuity...

  • Thank you it is live and learn just keep it safe.

  • I appreciate the compliment Kevin...but this is a nice control panel here. Mine is not even close.

  • Its all baby steps unless you have a ton off money.

    But thank you.

    Kevin

  • @OBXSOLWIND My system has created climate change. The minute I finished the wind stopped blowing almost immediately.

  • The main reason I got into this was for power outages.

I may have sealed the deal by being ready but you never know.

  • I love your design ! I will use this info for my setup. I got alot of soldering to do. Try 700 solar cells ! I will post it on my site when I get half way on my project !! Thanks and keep up the awesome work !

  • Im looking forward to you video Im glad to help.

    Cheers

  • What does this all cost?

  • Thats hard to say because I get alot of stuff for free. If I had to guess without labor maybe 7k. Thanks Kevin OBX NC

  • nice job , why do you have so many inverters? I understand the two stacked to get 220 but not the other 4 small ones?

  • Send me the pickup and I will send advice. The two inverters are not stackable They are simply feeding the two legs on the backup pannel. running 2 inverters allows me to run one at a time or both depending on sun, wind and time of the year. The other 4 inverters are grid tie They backfeed the power grid. I dont know if you saw the other videos I think they explain this. Let me know if you need a mailing addres for the truck. • Kev Nice set up i have 1200watts i just aqired i was woundering hows come you split them up in two sets of three i have yet to install myne< Thanks Dave

  • Hey Dave Idont know if You checked the rest of my videos. At 12v a c40 will only handle 600w solar aray. I wanted to do several things with the system at once. Runing a pair of charge controlers can be tricky to get them to synk. I called ZANTREX they did not have an answer. They need to make them so they will interface with each other.

Thanks for your comments I am not shure I answered your question maybe the other vids will.

    Take care Kevin NC

  • Greetings from Puerto Rico.

  • Nice setup!

    Thanks for sharing your information.

My family and I use to vacation in Kill Devil Hills, it's such a beautiful area.

  • Thank you it can be hard to live here but I do agree it can be nice. We have lots of wind and crazy wheather so its nice to harness some of it even though Im fighting the town to get my turbine up. It sucks to live in the 2nd most windy place on the east coast. We are 2nd to cape cod mass, Thanks again your set up is cool so keep it up. CHEERS WINDY NC
