  • HAAARRRRD all the way

  • How often do you see a team give up an 8 ender at that level of curling. Almost never.

  • "HAARRD ALL THE WAY"

watchi this with your eyes closed and this is porn.

  • when you get 8 points scored on you in one end, i think its time to find a new career!

  • sorry ..... I slept ,This wasnt gonna happen if thy were wearing some swimming suits

  • I first saw this sport on passport to europe samantha brown looks fun n interesting.

  • 8 women with brooms. That's an odd looking kitchen

  • Amazing sport!! Fascinating. Big fan here. Oh wait I lied.

  • hard! HARD!! HARD ALLLL THE WAAAAYYY!!!!!

  • 3:40 she looks like sarah palin :)

  • @summ22 LMFAO!!!!!!

  • only in the women's game does this happen

  • Hard all the way HAHAHA thats what she said

  • King's 8th throw was kinda unfortunate, you have to admit. Too much power, stone left the house.

  • wow

  • Le sport le plus con du monde...

  • Is it me, or does this just look like a bunch of really hot moms that got together in their spare time and invented this sport?

  • yap... HARD!!..... woah woah woah.

    lol

  • At the 22 negative Valuated: yet it seems you have no idea of curling.

    ---

An die 22 Negativ Bewerter: Ihr habt anscheind keine Ahnung von Curling.

  • aw man...i can't believe i have to go another 4 years until i can watch curling agian in the winter olympics...we need a curl tv here in the states. Well fencing is coming up soon i guess

  • @BlankJebus

if you had satelite you could get tsn they cover

    brier

    soctties

    world championships

    contnental cup

    sometimes world junior finals

  • @BridgetownCo agreed

  • Sarah Palin @ 1:53

  • "Either way, the guards prevent a straight shot to the button" surely a shot can't go straight to the button because of the bias, a blocker only prevents a button takeout

  • I've search for this video to a school work, but a couldn't understand the game of the right way, I guess.

  • @taahvieira09 which school are u in????? I'm doin this homework right now.. and I need to watch this on u2b.

  • wow... curling pwnage...

  • I hate character limit, but understand.

Man, I never thought I'd get such a debate from all this. But anyway, it's not just putting up guards, but utilizing them. If you put up gaurds and I use them.....

This whole thing started over 'physical defence', like in football. Offence gets around defence there too. But it's still physical defence right?

  • 'putting up guards ALSO helps your opponents to score,

because if they get around your guard,

its harder for you to take it out,

which is why throwing up guards is an aggressive strategy.'

Like you say, you have to get around the gaurds to score. That or get rid of them. It's not necessarily harder for your opponent to get around because you got around them. Plus then your opponent can raise a gaurd. Either way, the guards prevent a straight shot to the button.

  • surely on the last stone why not hit the red just a bit on the right?

  • hmmi like older men! Dont ask meh why i am telling you this

  • When the opponent is got 5 stones in the target, you're not supposed to try to score, but to throw a heavy stone in the opponent's...

    That's quite basic.

  • @vassalagem1 Of course you're not supposed to try to score. You can't because the opponents stones are preventing that.

Yes, in sports like baseball and football, you are either on offense or defense. In baseball, unless there are strange rules I don't know about, it's impossible for the defence to score.

And yes, for the most part, you are always trying to score on offence in those part. But if you are 4th and long, you punt.

You have to knock out the stones to be able to score.

  • no, you just have to be the closest to the center

  • @Agis2Ashes I know that. I was agreeing with vassalagem1 that you would have to knock out (or move around) some, or at least one of the opponents 5 stones.

  • to add to the previous messge, in that particular situation, you would have to move some around to get into a position to be able to get closest to center.

  • @vassalagem1 There was no way into the nest of yellow on the four foot except playing in off the red one. Basically, Cathy had no other reasonable shot to cut it down.

  • holy crap, tahts incredible.

  • if some team ever got an 8 ender against my team, i would kill myself....

  • You have to make some serious mistakes to give your opponent 8.

  • wow that was amazing!, amazingly boring

  • i do not view that as a sport....

is that phsyically strenghous? why is it olympic?

competetive dancing should be olympic, but not that "game"

  • really ANYTHING can be olympic sport. it just has to be voted by the committee Rumor has it paint ball is in for voting for the 2012 London games.

  • @I3eReal U mustn't play any physically demanding sports. Cuz if u did u would realize that eventhough the sport looks really easy there is a lot more to it.

  • wow , this is the most masculine sport i've ever seen, alot of "guys" playing with brooms and teapots, LOL!!!!!!!!

  • Who the hell cares what the god damn definition of a sport is? It's a competitive game that enough people enjoy watching to justify it's existence on television. You aren't winning some moral battle by protesting the presence of curling in the Olympic arena.

  • @nmiller921 that's true too. Thank you.

  • It surprises me how dumb people are. If you do not like something you do not need to watch videos of it. Curling is an Olympic sport and writing negative comments for videos on Youtube is not. Maybe you should spend less time on the computer and more time training for your manly sports.

  • Curling is much as a sport as poker.

    verdict: not a sport.

  • I'd compare it more to bowling. It's a sport, but more of a leisure sport.

  • @TheFobster it is much more difficult to cheat in curling than say sprinting. I would contend that crowds are more interested in the 'soft' sports these days as he with the most drugs does not necessarily win.

    Cheers

  • curling sucks!! ... its even more boring than golf ... go play something real people... i bet you'll burn more calories playing your little brothers nintendo wii, and much more fun, God!

  • Hey fuck you buddy

  • Curling is amazing

  • It's bowls on ice. And that it is. If you don't appreciate it, then it's not the sport for you!

  • fy faan å tragiske folk er på internett altså.. hahaha!

  • how can you play so bad. just launch it like a bowling ball into the other team

  • I know a guy that plays hockey and rugby! He decided to try curling for the high school tournament, and he is now considering joining a curling club

  • HARD! Hard all the way! Woah, woah! Close, woah. Yeah! Waoh, woah, woah... Nice shot.

  • LMAO. I was wondering wtf you were talking about then 2 seconds later your subtitles matched the audio.

  • Close your eyes and it sounds like porn. Really cool though.

  • Why close your eyes.. LOL.

  • Go play in a real competitive bonspiel, 2-3 10 end games for a week and you come back and say its not taxing physically. There is a reason you do not see many unhealthy competitive curlers anymore at the world level.

  • Yeah, it's a sport. I dont know why people are so eager to rip on it. You don't need to throw a ball or run into someone else to qualify as a sport. This game has lots of skill and strategy to it. I'd like to see any of you loudmouths go out and try it.

  • We are eager to rip on it dipshit cuz it is fucking lame!! I would find more excitement watching paint dry!!! If u think this shit is entertaining than you need to get out more.

  • Then why did you search on youtube to watch this then you stupid cunt...

  • No one was talkin to you anyway u dickless turd, so go eat a fat dick!!!!

  • @IFuqqinLoveeMusic

If it is so boring, why did you bother looking the video up? Is your life that sad that you need to go on youtube, find videos you don't like and make fun of those that do?

  • @CanadaMMA

FUUCCCCKKKKK YOOUUUUU!!!!!! So u think you can ground and pound mister mixed martial arts??? I would knock ur dick in the dirt u fucktard!! U probably couldn't punch ur way out of a wet paper bag, so shutup and go suckle on ur mom's nipples u fucking tittybaby!!

  • @IFuqqinLoveeMusic

    hahaha, you are awesome.

  • Theres a lot of skill and strategy in chess does that qualify it as a sport?

To say curling is a sport cus their is alot of strategy involved in it well then that qualifys alot of board games if not all of them as sports. Hell even card games.

Its a game yes........but a sport? Its like golf or bowling alot of people like to call those games sports. But their really more games then sports.

A sport in my opnion is a game that requires alot of physical exeration and skill and strategy.

  • and to add to your point (which i agree and heatedly debate with any disagreeing people) there also must be a defense consisting of the other team physically trying to stop you to score in any true sport

  • @wowhead1 What do you call putting up guards?

Also, are you saying that throwing 40 pound stones and sweeping as hard as you can is easy? Curling has significantly more physical exertion than any board or card game.

Another thing, listen to the song "Take me out to the ball GAME" sometime.

  • all sports are games so you saying that song title means nothing. not all games are sports. the person shooting does nothing but slide the stone on ice their not throwing so it takes very little physical strength to actually slide the stone.

look at all sports. theres someone physically trying to stop your plays. there is no such thing in curling you stop your oppenent with placing the stones.

not saying that curling takes no skill but its not a sport

  • @l3eReal The Swedes won yesterday by pushing the previous Canadian play out...

Your personal philosophy about what is a sport is irrelevant to the IOC money machine.

I believe there should be a 'sport' called: he who stands in the snow barefoot longest wins. The best part is there would be an obvious, although frost-bitten winner. The downside is that no-body would watch this tough but boring event.

  • Yoy are getting so defensive about what I am sayinh I am not saying those games or events or not skilfull or hard to do I understand they are.

But a sport is a game wich has higher then normal physical needs to play the game. And where the person your playing against has the ability to phyiscally try and stop your plays.

  • @l3eReal so skating, and (in the summer) track and feild, triathalons?

Look up wikipedias definition of 'sport' It says card/board games can be called mind-sports.

  • wikipedia is not a valid source of information ANYONE can make an account and change the information on the pages. Only if something is blatently wrong are articles changed by the admins soooo yeah

  • @l3eReal 'look at all sports. theres someone physically trying to stop your plays. there is no such thing in curling you stop your oppenent with placing the stones'

    They're called guards.

  • wow dude, just wow....where do i say a thing about it being easy/hard? where do i say a thing about "putting up guards" where did i say that physical exertion made the definition? surely, you have replied to the wrong person...and if not, just.....wow

  • @wowhead1 wow yourself. Of course you didn't say anything about guards, I did. I said that putting up guards counts as physically preventing the opposition from scoring. Learn to read.

  • wait tho, you only recanted on one of the three things that i obviously didn't say, what about the others? you were making them up to validate your incorrect point...anyway, reply to this all you want to from now on because i am done, no use replying to someone who themselves cannot read yet call on others to do so......

  • @wowhead1 Didn't see the point on commenting on everything I had said, especially since the one I commented on is the best defends my point.

and BTW I have yet to find any record of the message I supposedly sent you that started all this.

ps Nice using my insult on me. Very creative

  • @l3eReal Curling would take it out on the legs. The forward stance looks like it takes flexibility to say the least!

  • dancing takes flexibility is dancing a sport?

  • @l3eReal Indeed. The figure-skating represents one such event where dancing and skill are combined ... on ice too, so it compliments the Winter Games events perfectly.

    cheers

  • @Banana

Scoreboards in non-olympic curling are different and more traditional. Check out the (surprisingly accurate) Wikipedia page for the details.

  • They're like HAAAAAARDDDD NOOOOOOOOO BUUUUUAAARRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGG

  • HARDDD ALL THE WAY

  • 1:54 is sarah falin

  • Sarah Palin? yes, I see it.

  • @tate2354 no i mean SARAH FAILIN!

  • @dc93olson dudes fine im sorry you guys are right. this isn't a sport.

  • you people are fuckin retarded. no one cares if youre too stupid to understand how the game works. you COULD just simply look it up somewhere (wikipedia maybe?????) but just so yo dont have to think so hard, the sweepers are part of the team, they sweep in order to change the friction and make the stone travel farther or shorter, or to give it CURL (hence why its called curling for u idiots out there) it has the same concept as bocce ball, and if u dont knw that sport, then ur just a fuckhead

  • Indeed. I've only learned about curling a couple months ago. It's quite fascinating. Like baseball, it can be a real nail-biter to watch. The basic concept is quite simple, really. I love the earlier comment of someone saying he doesn't understand the sport, adding "EPIC FAIL". I guess he's admitting "epic fail" of his brain... The only thing about curling that took me a while to understand was the traditional style scoreboard!

  • What's with the scoreboard?

  • As mentioned before, an example of the traditional scoreboard is given in the Wiki article. It's basically the inverse of the "baseball-style" board you see in the Olympics. The permanent numbers represent score, and the numbers placed above and below are the end numbers in which that team reached that amount of points. If you get 2 points in end 1, a 1 is placed above/below the 2. Get 3 more points in end 4, and a 4 is placed above/below the 5.

  • oh real mature. <33

  • this is the best sport that can go along with "that's what she said"

  • are those two 'sweepers" in the front workers or players?

  • queer game

  • this weird why are they mopping the floor, are they part of the team? looks funny

  • @raaspider it clears the ice making the granite slide in the direction that they want it to or keep it going farther

  • For those of you who think this is lame, you obviously have never played shuffleboard, stones, marbles, croquet, or even horseshoes.

These games are all really fun and involve knocking your opponents objects out of play, and add a different element to just scoring in games like darts, etc.

So fucking live a little and try new things besides being a douchebag troll.

  • Remember- they aren't Olympic sports. They're Olympic games.

Also- I don't think you know what the word pompous means. You should probably look it up before using it in the future.

  • curling rules. woo

  • @staphinfection This is like chess involves a lot of strategy and the mind for it. I'm a bowler myself so I can appreciate the throwing and needing to hit a certain spot at a certain speed. Unfortunately we live in a action and 2 second attention span world hence some of the comments posted here.

  • ...no, it's not like chess in any way

but it is a fun sport

  • i dont get it

  • i just puked at that comment..this sport is ridiculously bad

  • Put Simply , I'd rather look at paint dry !

  • WOW a sold out crowd at the Player's Championship!!!!

  • So I'm pretty sure Cathy King sucks at life.

  • Curling is awesome, and that was amazing... I wish I got to watch it more than once every 4 years but it gets no coverage where I live other than the Olympics.

  • this is boring, no emotion....it makes me sleep, waht is the sense of this?

  • that last stone looked heavy...thought it was going to get swept out of the paint

  • Wtf is the point ... I guess it makes women feel like there doing something

  • So

what the fuck is going on

  • HAARD, HAARD ALL THE WAY

  • the world would be such a better place, if women actually swept like this in the home.

  • Lol. Watch it with that, you might invoke the rage of some crazy feminist.

  • I think its interesting. people can make a case that its a sport the way golf, archery, pool, and fishing is considered by many to be a sport. or car racing. it is a skill and a competition and requires training therefore it is a sport. Does it require conditioning? well conditioning is training the body to perform optimally at the given task, so in that sense it does require body training and although the physicality of it is not as obvious as say football or boxing, it is still a skill....

  • Curling is just glorified shuffleboard.

  • 1:20

  • this sport is for house wifes

  • i swear the woman at 3:42 is sarah palin

  • curling fail

  • curling fail

  • i hate curling

  • curling fail

  • if only women actually swept like this in the home...the world would be a much better place.

  • Maybe the world would be a better place if you got off your fat ass and swept the floor yourself, you sexist jerk

  • Just to express the way I feel about this, after watching it on the Olympics, I'm here on the internet to say, this is the greatest sport in the entire world.

  • I love you

  • it may not be a sport in the true sense of the word, but there is a lot of skill involved in it obviously. just another take on shuffle board.

  • Easily the worst sport of all time.

  • @boggz77 i beg to differ...when i was in grade school back in '84 my dad invented a sport called "kneetouch ball." the object of the game was for me to avoid pissing him off when he was drunk between the hours of 9am and 11pm everyday. if he won, i would have to take my clothes off and let him tickle my balls with his mustache. he won everytime. i learned to cum when i was 8. becaue of him i can no longer live near schools or churches.

  • @ChineseDickFingers

Did anyone really need to know that?

    TMI, man, TMI

  • Cricket

  • this whole video is a big "THATS WHAT SHE SAID" haaaaaaaaaard haaaaaarrrd.

  • Weakest shit EVER!!! Cannot believe this is considered a sport at all, period. This is a hobby people.........a game!! Let's make beerpong an olympic sport, it would at least be slightly entertaining!!

  • Well some people like this...

If you don't like it, then don't play/watch it.

Also, justaguy150, this sport was invented by Scotsmen a long time ago:P

  • i dont get this sport ;O

  • This "sport" was invented by bored Canadian hockey moms as they waited around for their sons games to end.

  • LOL

  • looks cool to me

  • THIS SPORT IS SO AMAZING OMG

  • this sport is so fucking boring

  • this looks fun. and that kathy is pretty hot.

  • lol

this game must be played to be believed i guess, because it looks like a joke to me, as an olympic level sport at least.

Can you even enjoy watching it if you have never played it?

Oh well, I tried, came here looking it up after the simpsons, though Colbert probably got some interested too, but its hopeless.

  • is this piece of shit kind of a janitor game?

  • I really don't understand this

  • 1:23-1:32

  • How is this an Olympic sport? What's next cornhole. Don't get me wrong, it looks fun but not a sport.

  • "Hard all the way!" LMAO!!!

  • this should not be a sport. i could do this anytime. you guys are all bums

  • seriously? have you ever tried curling at all its a great game

  • i know man this is not a sport. this is gay!

  • I'd like to see them score an 8-ender with the Toronto Maple Leaf defenders knocking them into the seventh row...

Now THAT would be interesting to watch!

  • Well it's not so much debris. The ice is sprayed to leave frozen "bumps" on the ice which cause friction. The sweepers use brushes which melt the water and cause the stone to go faster.

  • It looks like they would sweep all the dirt off the ice before they start sliding that thing instead of waiting till the last second....:)

  • I've never watched curling, but now I might, it seems like a game that requires a lot of skill on everyone's part, and also precision.

  • you're allowed to sweep on someone elses turn?

  • i think only after a certain line

  • Sarah Palin curls?

  • Ah, never thought of that!

  • Okay, so why don't they wear skates?

  • I'm pretty sure the skate blades would ruin the ice.
