As for my experience with horses who had extreme difficulty being bridled, haltered, etc actually could not be tied up! You have to start at the source and have them tie properly before starting the next step. Good golly!
this is great. my mare is very ear shy and after trying for a year with different ways to bridle and unbridle john's technique really worked by the 2nd attempt you wouldn't even have known there was a problem she responded really well. i'm totally amazed. i didn't even need to hobble her. now after 2 days of practise for about 5 mins at a time she even lowers her head which she never did before. give it a try. thanks John
if millions of horses throughout the UK and other countries are bridled in the 'pony club way' throughout their lives without a problem then how can you justify it as the 'wrong way'. I'm not criticising as I can see how your technique works and have come across horses that have minor problems with unbridling, I was just curious. Thanks :)
The majority of Horses are not the profile that will develop a mental paranoia to glitches in the process but many will. It is those that I sought to assist by passing that onto people. That system sets up young horses for success and confidence whereas the BHAS system is a lottery
I just started to bit up my 2 year old Gypsy Vanner, and used your techniques, it works perfect, I am very glad I started him this way, less chance of problems later.
lmao....let me see....grumpy,sleepy,dopey,bashful,doc,sneezy,AND HAPPY.....
BELOW: QUOTE FROM DISNEY ..HAPPY:
Without Happy around, Grumpy might not be quite as grumpy. For Happy's just too infernally cheerful about everything. When the dwarfs think there's a monster hidden under the blankets, Happy cheerily asks, "Which end do we kill?" ....MAYBE HP IS "GRUMPY"
i watched endospink....he puts bridles on like a pc kid...lol...with his arm under the neck and around the other side of the horses head... :P..maybe its cause he's short ????
Put your right hand across the nose instead of the forehead, middle finger in side of mouth between front teeth and mollars and take bridle off. Use a thin bit just for practice. Regards
I don't know why it is Maree but Horsepersonship :) resides with the Americans and the Australians. The British .......well.....did you watch the Queens Cavalry Shows? Pony Club is still stuck with the BHS way of doing things. Hence the problem. Sad really.
Hey, about unbridling, any tips for a horse who wont open her mouth to drop the bit? I unbridle the way you show, and my gelding is fine, but my mare has always been weird about not opening her mouth and no matter what I try to do it hits her teeth every time, I think it bugs me more than her, but there has to be something! She's perfectly comfy taking the bit, and has no head problems at all, she just wont open her mouth to spit it out!
