Stryper has even gone on record as saying that they lip synced during this tour because there was no way they could reproduce IGWT live.

@stryperfreak By the way, if you are using this particular video to prove that they are lip syncing you would be mistaken. This entire video is slightly off time, and so it appears that all the words he is saying are synced. I have the studio recording and his lead vocals are live here, not pre-recorded.

@stryperfreak OK, Tim Gaines and Oz Fox lip synching to the CHORUS of IGWT is not the same as Michael Sweet having to lip sync, which in this video he is not doing. I have known for some time that the chorus was pre-recorded for certain songs, but the lead vocals were not prerecorded...which gives an odd mix of authenticity and fake-ness, doesn't it? I never liked the fact that the backing vocals were synced, but the devil is in the details. Sweet is not syncing here, the other guys are.

Great song but they're lip-syncing their background vocals & Michael is lip-syncing the choruses. This was very common in the 80's. Def Leppard & Van Halen lip-synced backgrounds too. It is understandable to have a backup track of lead vocals though. Otherwise you are screwed if you get a cold on the road. I know that Michael continued to lip-sinc with his solo band in the 90's. My band rehearsed next door to his in Anaheim in 1994 & I watched them do it on "Shining Star". Great song though!

Thanks. I think its natural for fans to get defensive whenever you point out something like that. But there IS a time and place for lip-syncing. It's just not a popular topic with rock bands, perhaps because of too many Milli Vanilli jokes over the years? Who knows. But thanks for that. Stryper was my favorite band in the 80's and still ranks very high for me. I just saw them live here in Vegas a couple of months ago and they were fantastic (and no, there was no lip-syncing! :)

It has been a while since I have seen this video. Damn. Amazing. And guess what!! Michael is going to perform with BOSTON to sing in place of Brad Delp, who took his own life about 2-3 months ago!! I cannot think of a better person to try and fill Brads shoes!
